Käärijä x Erika Vikman - Ruoska (Virallinen musiikkivideo) REACTION 

Thank you! Lately I have been watching all things Käärijä, and your Reaction videos have popped up. And I absolutely love them! As a Finn who has not lived in Finland since 1999, it has been great to rediscover Finnish music, and I am totally in love with Käärijä. And Erika is great too. I am not going through her older songs. Anyway, thanks again for your videos, I truly enjoy them 💕

Aaa! I just love the look of these two! The makeup the outfits… So cool! And the song is a banger. The automatic translations don’t quite bring all the nuances through. It’s filled with wordplay and cultural references. But you get the main idea. The comments in the middle of the video were really stopping. I did not expect that. They are really mean and rude. What a statement. And it brought the music video to another level completely. Btw “kipu kiihottaa” can also be translated to “the pain turns (me) on” so you can choose which translation you want. 😉

Rammstein (actually German as are Electric Callboy) absolutely are a major influence of Kaarija - his tattoo is based on the Rammstein logo and he adores them And yes, you're spot-on, that's exactly what the text in the middle is - genuine hate messages sent to the two of them

I love the way this video is designed - these two in the middle and the faceless peope around them. It's the messages they receive and read about themselves in social media etc ... the rubbish that is poured on them: you are stupid, fat, useless, nothing ... So you live in the public eye, do your work and you are a target to - whatever. It gives a whole new meaning to the lyrics in this context.

Erika is wearing armor and Käärijä has spikes like a hedgehog. Two ways to protect yourself.

The song tells how artists are criticized with really ugly words on social media anonymously. The music song is made against bullying.

This is the song that has a metal guitar riff that reminds me most of Rammstein of all the other Käärijä songs. Rammstein is an industrial metal band - which means that the keyboards and eletronic sounds are quite heavily in the music. If you wish to get a hang of their sounds listen to Rammstein - Du Hast. Usually when metal and rap are combined together it is called nu metal. But since there is the hard techno or party mode in many of the Käärijä songs, it does not sit in the nu metal genre, but is not industrial metal either. Nor it is pure rap. Even less hip hop. Party rap, because of the messages in the songs, not really that either. Much is lost in the translation (or missing translation) in the video. There is a break in the middle of the song. There are numerous Finnish comments appearing on the screen saying: "I am a ashamed of Erika Vikman", "After a few years no one will remember a one hit wonder", "Oh, the chubby poor one, she has made herself look cheap and hooker-like again. Embarrassing", "The most unerotic woman of Finland", "Stupid clown", etc. Commentary on "Ruoska" seems to be about commentary on social media without remorse. The intersting twist I believe is that "the pain excites me" is actually telling that "bring it on, show me what you got". I do not believe Käärijä has got much negative commentary except for the "clown" part, but Erika might have gotten more or less all the whiplashes.

As a native Finnish speaker and Finnish language lover I really enjoy these quality lyrics with marvellous figures of speech! If a Finn does not have a appetite for "kahvi" and "pulla" he/she is In very bad condition, alarmingly bad. These "Kari-Pekka" and "hemo" words remind almost every Finn of huge national long-lasting shame (regarding winter sports skiing, World Championship homegames 2001 and Hemohes doping). That combined with old saying " tulla lunta tupaan" ( In english " it snows to your house" ); something remarkably bad or difficult happens and your life is going to be so much harder. I just love these lyrics!❤

Yes many Rammstein fans also hears the similarity but no wonder as he is a big fan :) even while ESC2023 was ON Rammstein's drummer commented his instagram photo and their song
