In a recent article Kévin Reza (Black Professional Cyclist) shared his black cycling experience regarding racism in professional cycling. In the article Reza talks about racism in the professional peloton and using his platform to enable a dialogue. Similar to Major Taylor, Reza has experienced racism during races, by fellow cyclists, and sadly by fans. In addition, Reza discusses UCIs ability to pursue racism similar to the efforts made to eliminate doping. While there are no immediate solutions to racism, representation and visibility go a long way towards resolution.

Nice, and some thought provoking quotes in the article. It's no easy feat being in the pro world tour peloton period. It's all a challenge, but then, as is the case here, you have one more thing. I think that "one more thing" is something people of color are used to dealing with, but it it's an added stress. Kudos to this young man for his perseverance. He's an inspiration for all those that would follow. Speaking of which, let's not forget that the fact he is in the world tour peloton means that there's someone in the position of gatekeeping willing to recognize talent over ethnicity. There are allies out there. They deserve some love too.

Wise word Rando, and you are spot on in noting that "one more thing" that all persons of color, women, and other minorities deal with. Glad you enjoyed the article and thanks for your support.

Love your content. You should find all the Black cyclist and interview them. There was a cyclist named Eric Saunderson a well accomplished cyclist who raced in Europe and America. He was also in a cycling documentary made over 20 years ago.I can't remember the name.

Thanks Larry I’m glad the video/article added value. The article provided a clear eyed view of racism, fair criticism of the UCIs muted response, and a plausible solution. I’m glad you found value.

Blessings 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾 I watched some of the race and their were no commentary on his performance. Not even a mention I heard of during his tour. Cyclist do community service in communities, how come they never work with a group of young black riders. Loved following Lance, did he do community service? Black people donate to charity, but nothing coming back to them. Is black people money going to Ukraine? How come we fighting humanitarian causes around the globe, we fight for animal rights. Black people do not have the right to cycle and compete. It is VERY SADDENING that a people must fight for their rights. Can you believe that. Ukrainians are fighting for their rights, why? Why people must have to fight to live in this world. Sickening. Put your family, children in their shoes, their rights infringed upon. You afraid a black man/woman won the tour? Hey we afraid a white person win the tour as well, we afraid anybody wins the tour, that's why it called training and do best you can 🙂. Equal opportunities. Bless 🙏🏾

Thank you, as a mixed race cyclist i don’t think I have experienced overt racism but I’m certainly not represented in mainstream sports. Even my local bike #specialized bike shop can’t get bikes for our diverse cycling community. Whilst the white middle class cycle shop down the road is well supported by #specialized. Is this racism? Or just business?

Adam, thanks for your comment, shared insights, and subscription. It’s hard to say business practice vs some form of institutional racism based on zip codes. In either case, thank you so much for your comment 🤓
