Well the first cologne was named „eau de cologne“ (which translates to water from cologne or in german kölsch wasser)after my lovely hometown so probably not all wrong
Some of my ancestors are from there. My grandfather's, grandfather's parent(s) left this city to the U.S. I possibly have very distant relatives in that area, but I'm not sure.
Me and my wife are visiting Germany and Cologne for the first ever time later this month. Cannot wait to visit as I love Germany! So excited! Thank you for your videos and also your language videos, they are a big help. Danke Schön
It’s super ironic and awesome that you just posted this because in about three weeks I’m gonna be going to the Köln area for a 3-week trip with my german class... even more excited now 🇩🇪
My only real experience in Germany was flying to Cologne and going to Phantasialand (a rite of passage for theme park nerds like myself), but obviously had to visit the Cathedral. Incredible building to even see passing by originally, even more impressive up close. I feel I need to have a holiday in Cologne one day
Thanks for such understandable English speech and, of course, for such an interesting video. Your videos help few Russians to learn not only German, but also English :) Keep it up!
I've been visiting Köln for quite a few years now for Amphi festival, it almost feels like a second home to me now! I was actually looking at all the places I recognised feeling almost homesick :-)
Thanks for such an informative video! Köln is a beautiful city and I hope I get the opportunity to visit or even study there one day! *keeping my fingers crossed*
This brings back memories of me going to the Christmas markets in the city a couple of years back. Such incredible contrast in architecture and the rich culture. Hope I can return some day 😁
Cologne is like: 1. It takes forever to get into the city center 2. The parking meter ticks relentlessly while browsing the department store 3. Many inner cities are now like a garbage dump 3. Eye contact with certain individuals appearing in packs must be avoided under all circumstances 4. You have to be careful how you reject the many beggars, since this too can lead to unsightly consequences 5. You can't leave yourself too much time, because before it gets dark you should be out of there
1-5 describes most cities nowadays BUt I've always loved visiting Germany - always found them really nice friendly people - last time was Heidelberg (sehr SEHR toll!!) and I regret not having got to Koln yet.
Been watching you for a few years now, you do a wonderful job and should consider starting your own tour company. I think you would do quite well. I have been to Germany a few times but not visited Köln yet though I want to. Next trip will be a return visit to Freiburg in February to visit a friend. Thanks again for wonderful work you do on your channel.
Dont go to the chocolate museum hoping to eat chocolate , you get like 10 grams of it at most. Its a nice trip though if you want to see how chocolate is made? You also get to make your own chocolate bar at the end of the tour but its expensive.
Bro is cologne easy to get job, especially on Engineering side,. And can one convert schengen visa into residence permit.. I will be glad that you will answer me.. Thank you..
Went there last weekend,.. it was great,.. and was thinking about the same thing with the locks,.... I also noticed as people ran across the bridge, every step could be felt
Anything with a big, wide staircase in the front is cool to me. It makes it higher up and seem bigger since its even taller than the normal ground and overall makes it more majestic. I guessed the cathedral took 500 years to build and I thought that was a lot but it was over 600. Also, my relatives are from Germany and I have a german last-name. I'm Canadian but still root for Germany in the Olympics.
Cant wait to go there this weekend! Been wanting to go to Köln even before settling in Hanover for the past month. Chocolate museum & Köln Dom are on top of the list.
Hi Dominiki, I was only off by 500 years. wow! Talk about stairs, I I've been holding off going up the bell carillon at the Rockefeller chapel at the U. of Chicago, over 150 stairs. It's hard to grasp the Koln ( sorry no umlaut key) stairs. Great video, will Eau de Cologne help with the stair climb? Keep up the great work. Danke Schoen. JW
Das war ganz tolles Video, ich gratuliere dir, dass du ganz einfach die Deustch Sprache machst und jetz habe ich immer Lust mehr Deustch zu lernen Danke und viele grüße aus Kolumbien
Tatort in Köln has been on MHZ in USA for many years. I really enjoyed it, the characters Max Ballauf and Freddie Schenck were very funny and "un-German" (not stereotypical, untypisch?). Presents a different perspective on contemporary German urban living.
Omg such a mean but funny joke! Those poor people lmao That's a lot of stairs! I got tired going up the Monument (in London) and that was only 311 stairs 😶
I live in Cologne since almost 28 years now and didn't know some of the fact like that Cologne is a Holy City.. or that the airport is an emergency landing site for space shuttles... just one question: are you sure you didn't mix up the german and the english billion? 10 Milliarden Euro scheint mir doch etwas wenig wenn ich höre wieviel der BER schon gekostet hat.
