The Königgrätzer Marsch (AM II, 134 (AM II, 195)), also known as Der Königgrätzer or Der Königgrätzer Marsch, is one of the most famous German military marches, composed in 1866 by Johann Gottfried Piefke in commemoration of the Battle of Königgrätz, the decisive battle of the Austro-Prussian War, in which the Kingdom of Prussia defeated the Austrian Empire.

I had to reupload that. It´s from an Indiana Jones movie, but Mr. Jones wears a Wehrmacht uniform in that scene, and RU-vid doesn´t like that. So enjoy the skyline of Old Berlin instead^^ On the left the Imperial Palace on the right the Berliner Dom.

@@commanderrockwell1123 well, even when they do upload it, RU-vid either severely limits it or removes it outright. I tried to upload a couple songs myself and RU-vid deleted them all for violating their guidelines (somehow). It's not always in the hands of the video's poster anymore

You know I quite like this song, my band teacher is partially German so every year we always meet up on the day of German unification and we always play this song and other old songs of the empire. It’s even better to know that there’s at least 5 or 6 other Germans in our band as well so we all have fun playing this and other marches of the German empire. 🇩🇪❤️

This is actually very historical, though. The actual ceremony held in Nuremberg did include the Koniggratzer Marsch. It doesn't matter, though. Even today, it is not widely seen as a Nazi song and is played by many bands all over the globe. Hell, even my high school band played it.

Ich auch! Der Königgrätz-Marsch wurde mir durch Indiana Jones und der letzte Kreuzzug (1989) vorgestellt. Erst als ich nachschlug, entdeckte ich, dass dies 1866 zu Ehren der Schlacht von Königgrätz geschrieben wurde.

Actually, it is Indiana Jones that got me into world history and specifically German history. It also got me into finding my German ancestral roots. Which is my second largest blood makeup behind Irish/British. If I didn’t watch Last Crusade or the series in general in 2007 at just the age of 4 years old, I probably wouldn’t be here.

In dem Film gibt es einen Zirkuszug der von einer Dampflok gezogen wird, ein Teil des Films spielt in Deutschland und der Königgrätzer Marsch einer meiner Lieblingsmärsche kommt darin vor.
