This is a look at the Z-Frame Cross-Stitch lap or table stand. I love this stand. It’s stable and easy to use.

Thanks so much for making this video. I, too, tried a sit-on frame and didn't care for it. My z-frame arrived today, and I am already in love with it.

I ordered my Elan lap stand last year. I ordered it online and they shipped it when they got it made. I love my Elan.

That long screw on the holding part is to attach a roller bar.

Yes, I love to use mine lap stand with my Handy Clap roller frame. Their side bars have a hole in the middle just remove the clamp and put the screw through the hole in the side bar to attach your roller frame.

I just got mine last night and was wondering what that extra screw was for. Thank you for your video, it helped.
@SimplyThirdStreet
@SimplyThirdStreet 3 года назад
The screw under the clamp? I think it supports the back of the clamp when a project is in it, holds the clamp level in the back.

Thanks for the video! Very helpful tips. I did get one and love it, but had a problem with the strong stain smell -- my issue not theirs as I am sensitive to smells since chemo. So I am waiting for it to "de-smell" Air out, etc. Did yours have a strong stain odor in the beginning? In the mean time I bought an unstained regular frame and I LOVE IT! its for bigger frames.
@SimplyThirdStreet
@SimplyThirdStreet 2 года назад
I didn’t notice a smell but I do know my mother was also sensitive to smells after chemo for some time. The stain smell should disappear I would imagine. You also could lightly sand the stain off. It’s a wonderful stand. Where I bought mine they will sell unstained at special request, but that won’t help you now. Hopefully airing will do it for you.

Is this working for left handed, is the "z" going In the opposite direction. And I expérience the samething with the Elan, I text and called and never got an answer.
@SimplyThirdStreet

It’s either right or left handed. My BFF is left handed and she just turns it around. Works just the same. 😁

I wonder how stable it is, wondering whether it would make sense to have another arm on the opposite side for stability
@SimplyThirdStreet
@SimplyThirdStreet 3 года назад
It is very stable. The clamp is very good. A second arm wouldn’t seem to work on a lap stand I think as you need to slide a hand under the work. As a table stand you could put your hand in the center but on your lap close to the body you go more toward the side to gain access underneath. It’s perfect. I LOVE it.
@mrs.marissafraser

They have a double armed lap drama that I think is more stable. Used one at my local needlepoint shop and decided to buy it.

Do q-snaps really hold the work tight?
@mkaye3100
@mkaye3100 3 года назад
I put my Qsnap right in after I got my stand yesterday. It fit nice and snug, I also had some extra material so I had to sort of wedge it into the clap but it held nicely.
@SimplyThirdStreet
@SimplyThirdStreet 3 года назад
I like them. I do adjust the tension a little now and again but it’s very easy, just a little twist if the clamp. It’s not an issue and not constant.
@vallang4832

Yes I love mine. If it a little loose I use shelve liner the one with the holes. Small piece in between the clamp and the frame.
@wampler7
@wampler7 3 года назад
So is this stand for tables only?? I wish it had one more arm for more height adjustment. That is the only thing that seems like would make it a good lap stand, so you can hold your head level.
@SimplyThirdStreet
@SimplyThirdStreet 3 года назад
It is for laps as well. The Z arm can extend higher than I have it to make it taller if you need. I use it on my lap 90% of the time.

@@SimplyThirdStreet It doesn't wobble on your lap? Is the Baby Z frame easier to use on your lap?
@SimplyThirdStreet
@SimplyThirdStreet 2 года назад
@@flowerlass Its quite stable in my lap. I prefer the standard z stand for my lap but have the baby as well and it also is stable.
@newobmat

What's the purpose of the long screw?
@SimplyThirdStreet
@SimplyThirdStreet 3 года назад
It supports the back of the clamp to make the clamp hold tighter. Without the screw I think the clamp makes too much of a V and the frame isn’t clamped as well.

Is this the baby model or the standard? I know they have two. I am very interested.
@SimplyThirdStreet
@SimplyThirdStreet 3 года назад
It is not the baby. It’s the next one up. The z-frame. The baby, or petite, has a straight arm and the two z-frames have two piece arms (like a z). There is a large and small z-frame. This is the smaller of the two. Hope that helps.
@anniebilodeau6374
@anniebilodeau6374 3 года назад
Yes! That helps a lot! Tx for the explanation.
@SimplyThirdStreet
@SimplyThirdStreet 3 года назад
@@anniebilodeau6374 ok, I looked it up. The petite s the straight arm, the baby z-frame holds up to a 13” frame, and the regular z-frame (this one) holds up to a 22” long frame. I had it wrong, this isn’t the middle one but the larger z-frame. Very sturdy and I’m very happy with it. Comfortable to use a well.

I don't kjow what I'm doing wrong but I can't tighten mine enough to hold my qsnap frame. Do you have any advice.
@SimplyThirdStreet
@SimplyThirdStreet Год назад
You need to make sure the clamps are horizontal (not in a V shape). That is what the back/underside screw is for, holding the back part of the clamps apart. If its being tightened in a V it won’t be tight enough.
