In 93, we had some good Singles in Spring/Summer : What's up from The Four Non Blonde -- What is love from Haddaway - Sweet Harmony from Beloved-- Two Princes from The Spin Doctors-- Come Undone from Duran Duran -- World (the Price of love) from New Order -- Cannonball from the Breeders --
I don't know how many times I will come back to this song - but sometimes I need to Cry .... !!!! Especially now , I did the music for a local performance of "Waiting for Godot" in the late 70's - my friend Mark (Percy) was in it , he has recently passed !!!
There are some fundamental truths about the universe, the speed of light in a vacuum is a constant, entropy increases with time, and kd lang is deeply attractive.
If they are fortunate in their career every talented songstress will have one truly epic song they will own, no other singer will ever surpass their version. Some will have more than one but they are few. This is K D’s 👌👏👏👏
I remember the moment this beautiful heart felt loving woman received the Grammy for this beautiful heart felt song, which 2 , well as we speak is heart felt by me, God love her, my heart and passion and love for this beautiful song
Sept 2023! After listening on BBCRadio2. Classic song and the classic car Citroën with the super suspension that's far too expensive for Citroën to have in their cars today!!!!!
Yes, and as a young lad I never could understand why people would sing a song about a fish tank? As in "This is the dawning of the age of Aquarium ... age of Aquarium." Indeed :)
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm petrified to lose either of my parents. We as humans don't process the reality of parents and siblings no longer being here one day. A lot of my friends that have lost their mom's have struggled mentally to the point that they have been in and out of mental Facilities or on drugs.
@dahliablack9017 I'm sorry Broski. I can't imagine watching your friend's going down a horrible road because their parents died and having you watch them. Stay strong my friend. If not for you for them. Take care. Loves you
So amazing I have had the opportunity to meet many artists, but this woman is the best and every single thing she sings brings a smile to my face, my true heart goes out to her
I finally found this song after almost 30 years that’s been stuck in my head. I heard it on the radio (once) when I was about 5 and never even heard it again! But the melody stayed in my mind up until two weeks ago when I kept seeing the Google app commercials that deciphers a song through humming! It actually works. I was stoked to see how accurate it is. Rest assured, the human mind is a brilliant thing. 🧠
I experienced the same thing with another song of hers, only I was in my 20s and the song I heard once at a store and never forgot (searched endlessly for it) was Anywhere But Here. Glad you found this amazing song.
No te mueras nunca shazam! Te entiendo, me paso lo mismo que tú y gracias a shazam puede encontrar joyas musicales como ésta. Saludos y un abrazo desde Chile!
That’s awesome, I had the same thing happen last year after I remembered hearing and seeing the video clip back in the early 90s when I was a similar age, and finally found it too. It’s Stay by the Shakespeare Sisters.
Betsy, sorry country music died a looonnng time ago actually in th late 50s early 70s todays is pop music. This is real from 1959 Frankie Miller you probably won't like it?.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DheABBYirhk.html
@@PaulineCurrie interesting, thanks. I asked because I can’t stand the forced wobble either-especially with kids because they’re unknowingly destroying their voices. But a natural operatic vibrato is, I think, one of the most incredible sounds a human can make.
Proof that angels do walk among up, God put you on earth to bring joy and you lived up to God's expectation Thanx K.D. Lang! I'm still listening in 2024!
I am pushing 70 and I saw her perform in 1990 in Schenectady Proctors Theatre..I have been to been to more live shows than I can recall and still go to this day..I have seen many great bands/singers but she has without a doubt the finest womans voice that I have heard...3 Cigarettes...Brings chills to this day...I will never forget it
I'am a good person unfortunately male & straight these days, I have been around very diverse people all my life, but the times are changing for the worse
Great performance, beautiful song and excellent voice but there are many outstanding vocalists like Taylor Dayne , Mariah Carey and even Christina Aguilera.
K D Lang is a most gifted individual and I think we are lucky to get to enjoy her voice and the huge creativity she brings as well. K D Lang makes life good
It’s a shame they don’t make videos like this anymore. Remember when you could put VH1 on and listen to this and so many other fantastic songs in the 80’s??
k.d. Lang...I love her older stuff. AND...I do remember VH1. In my '76 Chevy Impala I had an 8 track, and I had 8 track tapes. Then there was cassette tapes. I still have 388 cassette tapes. I DO still have VINYL, about 1,000. I did move into the CD era, have many many. I haven't been able to move into the new music on my own. My kids (35 and 40) have lead me into some newer stuff, but I prefer to stay in my own realm. That's my comfort zone. My comfort zone is very broad based...classical, country included. Just by some accidental skipping through the radio channels I found Enigma. OH MY GOD!!!! And they've been around a long time. How come I didn't know?! I'm obviously rambling on here, but there is soooo much music out there that you just don't know about until you accidentally hear it, and then you LOVE it. AWESOME!!!!!!!
I remember hearing this for the first time in a north Miami mall. I asked everyone in the shop I was in who the artist was. What a beautiful voice she had.
I will NEVER forget hearing this song the 1st time. I was getting ready to go out for the evening and had the TV on to some award show. She started singing this song which I had never heard. I came out of another room to see who had this UNBELIEVABLE voice. I couldn't believe how perfect her voice was. I didn't leave the TV until it was over and made a point of finding out her name. She blew me away. Her voice is still superior to today's singer. I can't believe ANYONE listens to Adele!
Listen for k.d. lang as a backup singer with Bonnie Rait, Jennifer Wairnes, to Roy Orbison's PBS Special, "Black and White Night" -- included Bruce Springsteen, J.D. Souther, Jackson Brown, Elvis Costello, T. Bone Burnett, Tom Waits, etc. Amazing singer! Her range from country to jazz is deeply moving for me!
I too saw her on a late nite show, the audience was so pulled the music that when she finished they didn't applaud, kinda lullabied, the host had to shout her name the they erupted into a standing ovation
@@DariceDavisjprocks94I remember the Roy Orbison special with kd land especially when they both sang crying. Loved it and watched a few times. Wonder if anyone put it on RU-vid?
She didn't "retire" per se...what she DID do tho is shoot herself in the foot and commit career suicide by announcing to the world that she's a lesbian...she wasn't "cemented" yet as an artist whose career could sustain such a revelation (like Melissa Etheridge and Ellen DeGeneres) and as soon as she announced it, her career died instantly
I was a sideman for over 40 years, on guitar and bass. I've been blessed to have backed some amazing musicians, but my life would be complete if I could play one show for K D Lang. Her voice is absolute perfection, and her delivery and showmanship are unsurpassed. Her work is a musical miracle.
Respect, mate. 🙏💐❤️ I was a session singer (strictly small-time) for a long time. 3 names I yearned to back/have a play with: George Michael. Luther Vandross. KD Lang. Two are gone now. 🙏 I'm going to indulge in a KD fest right now. ❤️💐🎵
Lawrence Genereux : and you are still a "sideman" (this word doesn't exist in the OED). Not only that Lawrence, you are a shitman! you have the brain of a rat. England condemns you. England likes new exciting music, not sounds from the past century. Are you old and decrepid? You sound it! Are you an old schlerotic grand-dad? England thinks you are! All of Europe (esp England and France) loves Bieber and Sheeran!
@@kevinlongman007 it is underrated tho...lol im saying it should be more liked, i love this song..it "was" once world wide its a one hit hit wonder . . Youll never hear it on the radio = unrrated...but i hear ya. Maybe i should use a different word🤔
