I think this was really deep because it showed love as a drug that has it's highs and lows, and the reality of our intimate relationships. just like with drugs, when we become acclimated to the chemicals for love in our brain we become numb to it and don't appreciate it like we used to, but just like addicts we need that high and so we lash out when we don't have it anymore. what K.flay does is encapsulate those moments when the dose is high enough to have an effect again and captures the Euphoria of the moment. The hedonic treadmill is just as accurate in regards to our relationships as it is to everything else.
I just discovered this song and I love everything about it. The lyrics are great, the vocals are amazing and the beat is sick!! I only wish I'd discovered this when it just came out, because I could've already been listening to this for years. LOVE IT
dangboof She will not stop making great Music because she is her own person and makes music for her taste and her self thing is she is REAL but I do agree with your comment partly but hey as long she stays true to her self
after her tour with Imagine Dragons, she'll be getting harder to see. i liked it when you could see her in the Summer and be one of a handful watching her
I used to be very wary about my favorite "underground" musicians getting really big and losing or watering down their charm or raw talent, but I don't think that could ever happen with K.Flay... when you look at her entire discography, you see how much she's evolved yet stayed true to her sound and the messages she wants to get across. I want her to be the most famous musician in the world!!!
Me too, I've had "it's strange" for about 4 years. It was my ringtone for sometime, until today when I shared it with my girl and she asked for the title of the song. That's when I discovered K flay
I swear when I first heard this song, it sent me back to the 90s as a teenager. Its really got a 90s sound and feel to it yet K Flay recorded it in 2017.
Well, yes, musically it would be natural, but then there's the collegiate rivalry between Michigan and Ohio that could perhaps occlude this conjoining. And I'm not a fuzzball (see Waterboy film) fan...just making fun of it.
EXACTLY!!! K.Flay is a... "hit of whatever you've got"... and so f#@king much more... Enjoy, and sleep well knowing that K Flay is creating this level of art.
why is that lady w/ the bangs so attractive?? she's like attractive in a weird way... (also the song is freakin addictive lol, been replaying it way too many times now.)
I REALLY LOVED THIS. I think the surface message is that the song is entrancing enough that it makes people lose control and realize what's important, but to go even deeper, the fact that this track is meant to say "I don't need anything when I'm with this person, I don't need to be intoxicated, their love is enough for me" is really clear when you think about how it takes place in a trailer park where living conditions are not the best- but at the end, the couple realizes they don't need any material things as long as they have the love that brought them together in the first place. I love Flay sm!!!!!!!
Interesting! I have a different interpretation though. So in this song a drug is replaced by a person. As it goes with drugs, it's a bumpy road. Ups and downs. I think it shows how similiar love is to a drug, you sometimes hate eachother (when you're "off" the love drug) and love eachother (when the love drug kicks in). In the end, after they overcame all their relationship issues, they get hooked on the love drug permanently. In the video, K.Flay represents the memory of what the couple had to go through (she kept switching the music off and off) and all the struggles that come with love. This is why they scream at her at the end of the song, they don't want to remember the hard times/go back to them and want her gone, they are happy where they are. Despite that, she smiles, because she knows that without her, and without struggles, they wouldn't be a couple now.
Good interpretation of the song. But can we talk about the video? It seems as though she's using music to ignore the world around her. Press play and you stop hearing the neighbors argue. Press play and everything is fine. Perhaps the same way someone might use drugs?
( which could very easily slip into the above assessment of the lyrics/trailer park being a person with ups and downs. Perhaps this person is her coping method, that is, music or drugs.)
Great song, and the video has an amazing meaning. In the song, a drug is replaced by a person. At least that's what I think the video means. Again, great song.
Ahhh....had forgotten about this song! Remember it being on the radio CONSTANTLY in 2017.....and the first time I heard it, instantly loved it. Catchy af
She is catching up.... I have been following her music for more than 4 years... since her free demos and free singles... great to see her getting popular.. very underrated..

My take on this is that when the couple is on drugs, they are perfectly fine and happy and dancing. Then when they aren't, is when they fight. Hence the stop button she pushes.
@@moy_moy85 no, that’s exactly the opposite lol - i would overthink it. It’s not a simple get the plot music video. It has a lot of deep meaning. It shows the power that drugs hold over one another and how it can take the focus off of true problems in relationships. This is why they’re dancing and arguing towards the end without her clicking the buttons.
I feel this song through my entire soul. She has a talent that makes her songs supremely relatable. Also its good to know that if I am suffering living with roommates that constantly fight I just have to bump this and the synchronized dancing begins!
Great video! So many of K.Flay's videos hearken back to a time where videos actually told a story and had some meaning other than being flashing lights while listening to the song.
I used to listen to this song when I was in college and I listened to this masterpiece few days ago and I'd completely forgotten whatta beautiful song I was missing in my life. ✨💯
