Yea 460 probably looks better now than the day she was out-shopped 105 years ago. They did an insane good job on it. They even rebuilt the inside of the cab signal box! Too bad she'll never run, but at least she looks good!
It’s funny, this trip is the only reason any of these locos exist (the 460 is the only one) the fact that they are the largest, most powerful, and most advanced Atlantic never crossed anyone’s mind.
'The Roaring 20's', And on the Pennsy something was roaring alright, and it's number wasn't 20. In fact it was PRR E6s No. 460, in charge of The Lindbergh Special, proven that rail was still fast than air, what a show!
@@WesternOhioInterurbanHistory doubtfully. if it had happened, i think 1: the engine would be preserved and 2: it would be in mallards current position
This actually happened. On June 12th, 1905, PRR Atlantic 7002 reached 127.1 miles per hour between AY tower in Lima, Ohio, and Elida Ohio. This claim is often challenged by British people "because mallard better". The engine was scrapped, however the PRR took another Atlantic and changed it to 7002 in its honor. It's also worth noting that the engine in this video (also a PRR Atlantic) reached 115 miles per hour, (I need to look into this) and it's throttle was not wide open. It's very likely that this event actually happened.
Wow ! Love it. I'm really impressed by this whole production, incorporating TRAINZ with actual live historical footage. The sound track and narration are excellent, along with the musical choices. Well done !
Looking forward to it! Lots of variety to choose from on the site! I'm a diehard PRR fan, but i've learned over the years that not everyone shares my same opinion lol
If 460 was not permitted in the tunnel, then why was the grade crossing sequence sounded.because there is a crossing before the Hudson River tunnels and it would not have gone in the tunnels
its quite funny actual Scotland didn't actually break 100mph, her sister did. But the 460, or a reading 4-4-2 camelback could also have taken the record. Another key contender is an unstreamlined 4-6-4 Milwaukee Hudson, which was testing for the hiawatha.
I am highly considering buying Trainz. Mind telling me briefly how it works? I know you have to buy certain locomotives and stuff but what are the basics? Btw I have a Mac so I'll be using the one in this video.
Before you buy anything extra, i'd say try installing the game and giving it a run first. It comes with a good chunk of stuff to begin with and a few routes. See you how you like it.
+Train Freak That, and the NYC had a VERY bad accident that resulted in a wood coach catching fire from steam engine cinders, there was a very high death toll because of that. So the PRR stopped as well, thats also why they made the P70 steel coach. To prevent car fires.
Believe it or not, Lindbergh’s plane only averaged about 100mph! These days, modern jets cruise at 500mph, and Concord topped soared at 1340mph. Pretty insane right?
@@KLTrainz ya the different in speed but what I thinks really crazy was the aircraft was probably made of wood and fabric idk tho but now there composite or aluminum
