Here is a history lesson and a fun fact. Originally it was the black people who invented country music in the first place in the South during slavery time. Of course the white people loved the sound and took it and made it as if they were the one who invented it but it was the slaves who did, just like jazz genre music. So the mixture of country and hip hop is really him mixing his ancestor roots with his modern roots together. If you liked this sound, you should hear Beyonce country song in Her lemonade album, she also paid tribute to her southern ancestors roots as well coming from Texas. 😉

The original version of the song is just with lil Nas x on it. His song was on the country charts and hit #1 and then the billboard country people kicked him off the chart since they racist and white (when country is a genre first started by Black people just like Rock n Roll was but it became whitewashed and ironically white people try to gate keep it), they tried to argue it wasn't country music when it is, even if rap is mixed with it. To get back at the racist country chart people, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus did this collab and in the video at the beginning you hear lil Nas x say "last time i was around here the people weren't so nice" , Billy says you with me now so you'll be fine. That means I'm a country artist this is a remix with me, watch them have no choice but to put this song back on the country charts or else. And it ends with the remix is labeled as country.
