I became an ARMY in 2015 and I was immediately taken in by J-Hope so he became my bias with 6 bias wreckers. Now RM, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook have become my biases with J-Hope becoming my ultimate bias. This man was born to be an entertainer. Jungkook has always been the golden maknae while J-Hope is the golden hyung.
JHope has so much more to offer. So proud of my bias. Hoseok is king of cadence and now Prince of Pop Rock. I dot know this new genre he created. Can't wait for Jimin to show his true self. I know he is also versatile. And of course Jk and the rest
Guys there are actually alot about his album concept, the theories, the details, I'm not sure if I can explain it all well, or gather the info persistenly, but I'll try to convey a gist at least. His album name is "Jack in the box" (The box we have seen in the mv, the Jester Hobi, and the distorted face of his bands are all related to this) So what is the myth origin of Jack in the box ? The imagery used for Jack in the Box’s concept is closer to a Jester than a classic Clown. Jesters, also called “Fools”, were entertainment in medieval courts. In fact, they were known for being heard from afar due to the loud bells on their caps and their fake sceptres. The real comedy is that a “fool” was not synonymous with someone who was unintelligent. In fact, their fake sceptres were symbols of masking reality with humour. Jesters/Fools were actually famous for accurate observations and delivering profound wisdom with funny loudness. Even today, “you jest” or a “jester” is a phrase for someone pretending to not understand when they’re acutely aware of everything and even have wise opinions on it. For many the jack-in-the box is known as an amusing and harmless children's toy, but its origins convey a much darker story. It has been expressed through folklore and legends that in 15th century France they were using the boxes for a very specific purpose. In French, a jack-in-the-box is called a diable en boîte, which translates to "devil in a box." It is said that these boxes were actually created to capture and hold demons or evil spirits. Many would fashion the boxes with elaborate engravings and amusing artwork to lure the demon's interest. They would then employ the playful music and surprise opening of the lid to trap the demons. Their essence was then believed to become trapped in the Jack character, which was why they were originally made to look sinister with maniacal grins. The box was then to be hidden away where no one would ever be tempted to open it again, as doing so would cause the demon to be released back into our dimension. There are huge references in MV to the movies Fight club (1999) and Jack in the box main theme as well. Both also concentrate on People who have crushed themselves under society pressure, Work and what other expect from them, and have been hurt a lot by others so they returne to Avange them all (the office set represent exactly the fight club)!! in jack in the box main story people's face get melted and distorted because of pressure, just like his band's faces. (From here I'm going to spoil fight club, pls don't read if you don't want to; I highly recommend yall to watch the movie, the reference is so brilliant: so in Fight club, there are two people. Which in the end we understand both are the same person, just 2 different personas. Geniunly, the darker and brighter sides who are constantly in fight, but the brighter actually gets its power from the darker, yet doesn't want to give so much freedom to the darker one. the brighter slowly changes to a more powerful version of himself, something like they've been combined but maintain the essence) this is exactly the point I roughly said. We have this theory that he opened the box, let the Jester out but again put him back. He is giving the Jester freedom but limits it. In general this box is the society and Kpop barrier that is caging Jhope, but he wanna let himself out. It may shock people, they may despise it or everything, but he doesn't want to keep that side hidden anymore. He also has said that his tracks are going to be in order and tells a whole story (on one hand we think MORE is one of first tracks, he is warming up the story) We have to wait for the whole album Title track's MV as well to complete our theories though. Guys It's also interesting to know that his Hope world mixtape concept was Pandora box myth as well !! I'm not sure if I had explained it well but I hope you guys could get it a little bit :) My main source was twt so sure you can find more explanation there if needed. I know it's pretty complicated and detailed, His album concept is so well thought, mind blowing and very brilliant, he is legit a genius !! Worked on this album for 4 years, and it really worth it. Thank you for your reaction. ♥
In addition, I wanna let you guys know some details in the MV: 2:17 "KitKat" has a double meaning here; In Japanese Kit Kat sounds like "kitto katus", which means "you are sure to succeed" or more literally translated as "surely win". Meaning that whatever he does he is bound to succeed. 2:28 he is referring to "Salvador Dali", a famous painter who is known for having a variety of artistic styles and surrealism paintings (He is the painter of " the persistence of memory", better known as the melting clock painting) and the x-ray scene resonates so much with Dali's "Dancer-Skull" painting which was completed in 1932. if you see the painting you see the reference, it was so brilliant! (Dali) here, also actually has a very cool double meaning. In Korean (Dali) means differently, so that line can also be translated to something like "drunk in the artistic paintings, I throw myself out there 'differently' " 3:34 (I'm in my element) is a rough translation of "I'm a fish that met water" and it just links the whole verse together so nicely with water imaginary ( Yeah, I'm thirsty / I need to go surfin' on the beat / I'm a fish who just met water/ Soak up the music) You see his lyricism is beyond excellent. Chef's kiss. And you pointed it out that some screams sound far and muted as if he is in the background and that's true. He probably is portraying screaming in a box (Jack in the box) and the way he's trying to let out his emotion and to break his idol image stereotype which is caging around him and is limiting his artistic career. Isn't this album a masterpiece already? It's very mind-blowing indeed. hoseok did amazing. he went totally on the opposite of Kpop, you gotta have guts for it and damn man, this guy is the most versatile artist and boldest one in kpop.
You made the comment that he's saying that he'd be in an office job if he wasn't doing music.... and I noticed that the lights in the office look like the BTS logo.
Our hope Hobi Please this song spread over the whole world I love Hobi's voice color So unique and attractive Also he is the best dancer in bts So proud of Hobi
Ok your right, Hopeworld was his last mixtape, but the last video he did by himself was "EGO." And in EGO there was a hospital scene, a scene that is mimicked in "MORE." Now in EGO there revived someone. So who do you think the revived? Ladies and gentlemen, they did revive Jung Hoeseok, nor was it J Hope or Hobi/Sunshine. They revived Jack! This is another Persona of his EGO...there are connections everywhere. Not to mention Taehyung was in the video, just like he was in Daydream.
OMG, I love your reaction so much. You guys are amazing. Thank you for really appreciating and supporting j-hope. You guys really did researched very well, I'm so thankful.
