There's behind the scenes for their music videos. You can see in this one's behind the scenes that Jimin and Jhope are the dancing shadows that you noticed in the video.
There are several live versions of BTS performing Black Swan that are stunning and beautiful. Well worth checking some out. Thanks for reacting and liking them.
You'll find they don't really have 'A sound' they do what they want when the want use whatever genre they like mix genre's as they want. There sing and rap about topic's they want to talk about. They are 7 individuals with different musical interests and background who also have similar tastes and idea's. They are true artist who never sit still and are willing to explore their potential rather than sit back and be given a song to sing.
Errrm that's an impossible task with well over 200 songs to chose a favourite or even a short list of favourite's and as the albums tell stories explore subjects such as Mental Health, Psychology, reference great works of art and literature in many different genre's of music
the first time I heard this song I didn't like it, too much autotune for me, then I read the lyrics and did research on their meaning and finally the use of autotune to took on its full meaning. And today this song is part of my top 10 or 20
top 20 or top30 it may sonds low but when you remember that BTS has like over 350 song and they have solo work that give next 100 songs... then top 20 don't sounds so far anymore....
It's their version of Black Swan but also the line ,"1st death" refers to an artist who has a mental block & believe it's over for them. Hence it's their 1st death. Very poetic, I think & sad bc true artist live bc of their passion for their music, painting, writing etc. It's very deep bc people don't seem to get that they only will feel alive doing what they love.
The song and movie Black Swan are from the famous ballet Swan Lake. Swan Lake is about a white/good swan and a black/evil swan. In many modern productions, both roles are played by the same dancer. It symbolizes the struggle within oneself between light and dark. BTS wrote a whole series of songs based on the shadowself. If you watch it again, pay attention to the black/white and the light/dark. It really is a masterpiece. The choreo in the live performances is amazing. 😘💜🫰🏻🫶🏻
It’s about what would happen if they lost their passion for their art, i.e. music. The 1st death they talk about is inspired by a quote by American dancer Martha Graham which says ‘a dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful’.
With BTS songs the lyrics are very important and I'm not sure if you were actually reading them or not. I know its hard to watch the dancing and read the lyrics at the same time and some reactors watch a lyrics video first and then the official MV. If thats not doable then try to glance at the lyrics just a bit more please.
This song is based on the quote by Martha Graham “A dancer dies twice. First when they stop dancing and this death is the more painful.” When a creative person feels burnt out, this can almost feel like a death. For example, writers block can cause an author to spiral and become horribly depressed and upset. The creative juices must flow for art to flourish. BTS are singing about how it would feel if they couldn’t do what they do anymore due to artistic burnout.
You definitely need to watch them live. They don’t really have a sound. They do so many different things. Also, for live performances they always change things up. It may be the choreography or the accompaniment. Always makes it interesting and not boring watching the same song. It’s really hard to pick a favorite. It changes with my mood. I love Butterfly, Stay Gold, Film Out, Tomorrow and Jamais Vu. But I also like more upbeat songs like So What (especially in concert), Not Today, Run, Run BTS and On Kinetic Manifesto. I love all of their music.
Love Black Swan! This is one of what I call their artsy songs/videos. The other two are Blood, Sweat, and Tears and Fake Love! Also, what's the music playing in the talking parts of your video?? It sounds so pretty and familiar but I can't place it!
One thing about BTS is they are lyric centric. So if anyones just looking for beats from them they are not for you. Lmao. They have a bunch of different sounds and you can listen to their slow songs and absolutely love those too. I dont know if anyone recommended these but Ill recommend two slow song: BTS - ‘Blue & Grey’ & BTS - ‘For Youth’. And a couple of unit slower songs BTS - ‘Jamais Vu’, ‘Zero O Clock’ & ‘The Truth Untold’. Thanks for the reactions. :)
Still my favorite from BTS. Everything about it is brilliant and beautiful. It reminds me of Dark Academia. Rising from the ashes (the wings open) putting our shadow (doubts) to rest at the end 🖤❤️🔥✨️ such depth. Glad you liked it.
Try some of their live songs (from channel Enjoy BTS More - they usually have subs) So What Magic Shop Tear (rap line) House of Cards (vocal line) Ma City Attack on Bangtan MV Idol Blood Sweat Tears Fire Fake Love Dope
Bascially they are singing/rapping about their real fear of losing one's passion for their art eg song writing, composing, producing, singing rapping, dancing even just going up on stage. There's a famous quote by the Famous Dancer Martha Graham "A Dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and this is the most painful death. The Shadow is represent that fear it's Shadow is part of Jungian Psychology representing the part of our brain were we hide our darkest deepest thoughts, feeling and fears and we have to acknowledge and face them eg make peace with them.
Dude you keep talking non stop through all your videos. Pause then talk. And please read the lyrics. These are not western artists their songs have deep meanings. It kinda feels like you don't actually give a crap about music
The thing is they nearly did burn out with all the pressure and the hate that they talked about disbanding, they cried a lot bascially the 3 Rapper wrote Outro: Tear which each Rapper rapped about what disbanding would mean to them. They all cried on hearing it, the result was they rejected the idea of Disbandment. They'd met and conquered their loss of passion for their art hitting it head on.
You should definitely check out some of their Dance Practice videos if youre wanting to see their choreography.. as a former dancer, I think I watch those more than anything
Interesting that you picked up on the tempo. It fits with the song lyrics talking about being stuck in a rut and music becoming a slog rather than a joy. Also, the shadows! This song comes from the album Map of the Soul 7 which dives into Jungian theory. It’s the idea that the only way to become truly yourself is to acknowledge/accept the persona, ego, and shadow (the dark bits) of yourself. I have a theory on the shadows which might be completely off base. You see the progression of the size and level of connection through the video. It starts with them looming over the members and you don’t see them connecting to their bodies. You see the shadows eventually become the height of the members and connected to them, which could be that they’re ready (or almost) to accept that their shadow is a part of who they are. I can take the ending two different ways. First, JK accepts and controls the shadow, taking it in. Second, JK isn’t ready to accept that part of him, so denies it and walks away. Sorry that was so long! I enjoyed your reaction a lot.
Excellent point re: the tempo mirroring being in a rut. I also noticed the shadows are less & less uncontrolled as the MV goes along, but I like the twist of the last scene having alternate interpretations. In either case, it’s clear JK acknowledges the shadow’s presence. He’s aware it exists. Whether he has already accepted it or isn’t ready to, that is still a positive step forward.
I tend toward the first interpretation of the ending. ON is the next major song in the sequence and it’s definitely them declaring their acceptance of their shadow and choosing to go forward whole.
Check out their performance in MAMA 2018. Performance at its finest. Well, actually this is just one of the …. ALL of their performances are 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼!!!
I will be honest I like their B-sides more than their title tracks. However I do really like this song & love’s its meaning. I recommend: -Not Today -Dope -Louder Than Bomb -Blue & Grey -Dis-ease -Anpanman -Ma City -Danger -Heartbeat -Louder Than Bombs -Mikrokosmos -Rain -BTS Room Live (it is a medley)
