Furthermore, several people on Blackpink’s core team are Korean American or white American, which I will discuss later in the follow up video. Korean homogeneity cannot be used as an excuse in this situation, especially since Jisoo arguably has the least amount of offenses out of all the Blackpink members despite being born and raised in Korea.
I forgot to ask when this vid was first posted, but I was wondering if you would consider making a video discussing IVE's Wonyoung claiming that she created edges and renaming them to "tweety bangs" or if you had even heard abt that because her stans try to pretend as if that never happened.
@@summerspice123 I saw something brief about that. I didn’t look deep into it because apparently Korean beauty bloggers have been using the phrase “tweety bangs” before Wonyoung did, so it seemed like another “reggae mori” kind of issue- I don’t know about the invented part though.
@@AdeolaAsh Oh okay. I didn't know abt that, but yeah, on her Bubble last year she said that "it was her idea to have "tweety bangs" during IVE's "After Like" promotions." After that, her Korean female fans started posting videos of themselves with edges and referring to them as "tweety bangs" and claiming that she was the one who popularized it and when black fans started calling her and her fans out, they got harassed.
@@Hindulisa Ik lol when did I ever deny it? that person mentioned twice, just thought it was worth mentioning that almost every group that has done it has been defended. From bts to bp to twice to almost every other kpop group has done something racist and fans have defended them.
What is… What makes me laugh in that “ain’t this some shit?” kind of way is the fact that no one black is involved in the song-making process. So the cringy blaccent and erroneously AAVE usage is coming from non-black people. To me, it is on some “Robert Downey Jr. playing Kirk Lazarus-who is playing a black man” weirdness.
Bruh how many times have k-pop idols mocked my indian culture. I'm a k-pop fan but literally gurl. These girls were literally mocking an indian classical dance called Bharatanatyam for like four or five times. Not only them my faves have also done that. Thank you so much for pointing them out and holding them accountable
I’m only 4 minutes into this video and I’m so thankful for you for creating it. Ive never looked into black pinks music but decided to watch one video tonight and immediately in my spirit I felt the appropriation. They were on a carpool karoke and talked about krumping and how to do a krumping face. As we know in our community this dance of dance is rooted much deeper for us than just a “angry dance” it’s our pain and our art. I had to see if anyone else felt this way and up popped your video. So thankful that it wasn’t just me.
Since the beginning of his career, YG has always culturally appropriated and even did blackface. I’m not surprised that his entire company appropriates I’m just surprised at how people let them get away with this.
@@AdeolaAsh yea I’ve been a fan of kpop since I was really young and my aunt had VCR recordings of his concerts. I’m sure there is probably a clip of it online but that was my first time seeing blackface. She grew up in Hong Kong and said it was a “cool” thing back then 🥴
I know I’m late but I can’t help but notice how K-pop girlgroups since the 90s have just copied TLC’s setup. With Lisa Left eye being the only rapper, all these K-pop groups force a female rapper when really there doesn’t need to be one. This goes to show the success and reach of TLC during the 90s cause till this day companies are following that blueprint.
the article of jennie talking about hiphop and going as far as saying that rhianna is hiphop and that she just “makes anything hiphop” really made me look at the group differently. rhianna is not a hiphop artist at all and is very much a pop girl and always has been, her generalization of black artists gave me the ick. her also saying that their (blackpinks) hiphop is new and has never been seen before made me laugh as the just regurgitate black/afrolatina style and way of rapping. her using the words swag, vibes and “rebellious” to describe hiphop also just shows that they know absolutely nothing about black culture and it’s origins. it’s truly upsetting.
especially when she claimed rihanna was her role model or she 'studied' her; truly just means she likes the aestethic and did her best to copy it to achieve looking 'cool'. so shallow and far removed from the reality of it.
Jennie and Lisa are peak idol rappers, they claim to be lovers of the culture and as an art form but they know nothing and continue to profit off of something they're not even bothered to learn about.
They just see it as a stereotype and nothing more. It’s awful. And also awful how they say that their hip hop isn’t the rebellious kind, as if all hip hop is political just because it’s made by Black people(not that there’s anything wrong with Black hip hop being political).
It’s honestly frustrating how non black people can get away with acting like caricature, using a terrible attempt at AAVE, wear certain hairstyles, clothes. They are called trendy and get praised for it. Meanwhile, us black folks have to code switch for a lot of thing’s. For example: keeping a job, not wanting to be stereotype and etc.
Seriously! And when someone does it over and over again, they're refusing to change. They are refusing to learn. (Or rather, they learned and don't give a fuck.) That's just unacceptable.
I could never get into BlackPink’s music because they never felt like a real group to me. The group and the music feels like it is a fictional group that would be referenced in a sitcom’s episode. Like the music just have to be believable. It doesn’t have to be well-produced and solid enough to be a certified song. It just has to be believable. Well enough that viewers wouldn’t be distracted by the falseness.
@@rewbi2196 Rewbi!!! 🙋🏿♀️ Yes, a fictional group. They would be the group that would've been featured in the episode in which the teenage daughter buys a fake ID, sneaks out of the house and goes to the "big, dangerous city" with her friends. They are going to a nightclub to go see their favorite girl group, BlackPink. Throw in some hijinks from the goofy-himbo son and his buddies, bad over-dramatic acting from the "mom," Lisa saying her lines with a cringy blaccent, the father giving an impassioned monologue, the audience "awwws," everyone makes up and roll end credits.
The fact that Lisa and Jennie, mainly Lisa, got embarrassed and barely wanted to answer when that interviewer called them out shows that they're aware of the fact that they profit off of black culture and know that they're wrong. And it's funny that the interviewer put them on the spot for their constant cultural appropriation during the time Lisa was getting bashed for her braids in KTL lmao Also, Jennie's comment rubbed me completely the wrong way because it just goes to show how ignorant and racist she really is because as was stated, Rihanna isn't a hip-hop artist and has never once rapped in any of her songs. Anyways. As I always say, if one has to emulate what they think black people act like in their songs, then to me, they're not a real rapper and Jenlisa definitely aren't if they're making comments like that.
Chile, these ladies will never learn. I'm tired of the world constantly rewarding mediocrity from non black people who mimic black culture. I'm glad that I never fell into the trap of liking BP tho.
I find it funny how black people could possibly be hated to DEATH if they were to ever decide to be a kpop idol ( this is just one out of countless things we could be hated for ) but when it comes to black people worldwide we must allow everyone into our spaces when it comes to music, hairstyles, fashion etc... It just makes me angry and I don't even blame the black people who want to gatekeep cause it's seemingly a problem when we don't share.
Ya it’s systemic. Black people and our things have always been used and discarded by others. Same way with slavery, same way they mine all of our resources through African child labor for their products, it goes on. I think the only way this can be solved is if we create our own systems, then gatekeeping can happen. Right now, we don’t really have a gate
Jennie calling hip hop, a genre made to uplift black culture, & watering it down to “cool vibes” is sum we only see blinks defending like blackpink always find a way to piss me awf… profiting off black culture & still being ignorant asl to the roots & cultural significance behind the music they love to use for “swag” aesthetics & rewriting the meaning of hiphop to fit their narrative.
this is why I don’t take kpop and even khh rappers seriously cause they always cosplay as these “tough gangstas” but have nothing to back that up. there’s only a few kpop rappers that I like, simply because of their delivery and flows, where there’s no botched AAVE or blaccent. I want some authenticity from them, like rap about things that truly bother or inspire you, be true to your real life persona instead of becoming a carbon copy of someone else.
@@pinkturtle2016 LMAO I've used this exact sentence (or similar) before. Like after they're done cosplaying as a stereotypical African American person for the day, they'll run back home to their grandma's house for some kimchi jjigae and bibimbap while acting like dutiful children. 😂😂
I don't listen to kpop but I heard about the appropriation and decided to look into it a bit more. It really surprised me when I found out how much cultural appropriation there was. Especially at 0:27, I'm part indigenous american and I heard people do stuff like that in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL and then they grew up and realized how offensive and just embarrassing it was. This whole situation just baffles me as to how someone can do any of the stuff you mentioned and not see anything wrong with it?
especially when two members have lived overseas and three of them are fluent in english... they are choosing to stay ignorant, choosing money over morals. i also dont wanna hear anyone saying their comoany does this and they have no control over it; they have been so big and influential for a while, if they wanted to change these things they could, they just dont care.
YG ent has always been an offender of cultural appropriation. From Big Bang all the way to BLACKPINK, the company is fine with it and so the idols see no problem with it even when being faced with people telling them that its not ok. Part of me does believe that had the company given them any pushback for their actions after the first time both them and the company got called out, they would have shaped up and changed up. I'm honestly worried that BABYMONSTER will end up doing the same thing, since its never changed between three different groups. People have told them time and time again to get educated and they say they will but don't listen. It's to the point where I wouldnt be surprised at all if one of the BABYMONSTER members wore dreads, put on a blaccent, or had some of their hair in cornrows during their debut promotions or performances. Edit to add: Did i start genuinely crying seeing the clip of them mocking with our war cry? yeah (yes im indigenous, yes im pissed)
What is most annoying is how big Western media outlets will just run with these K-pop artists like they don't see the appropriation, the colourism and blatant anti-Blackness.
as a black blink who went to their concert in October (it was amazing!!), im not going to lie, those comments Jennie made in her rolling stone interview really hurt me.. especially since it’s actually known in the blink fandom that she has the most black fans. idk it’s frustrating how it’s cool when these Korean idols steal our culture and use it but ratchet when we do it… for example newjeans has been praised for being “influential” when they just stole another concept of y2k from us… ;(
@@Suzutheone y2k is based on black aesthetics popularized by black 90s figures like aaliyah…there is no y2k without black people, that is whats being referred to
so glad you're back and continue shining light to what a lot of racialised k-pop fans deal with and discuss regularly! i'm looking forward to the upcoming deep dive! i hope you're doing well 💕
Thank you for highlighting the fact that these performers are just fake. They latch onto hip hop culture just because they think it looks cool. They don’t know or care about the actual culture If one of them actually grew up in this culture it would be different. But they’re just poorly mimicking people they really could give less than a fuck about They continuously do this is because they are superficial You can’t fix superficial
Jennie was wrong in her message. It’s the fact that kpop is used from black culture. They’re mainly racist to us blacks but do they know that rapping came from us? It doesn’t seem like it. I really do love them. But all this cultural appropriation with is a no go for me. I’m not even sure if I still wanna use there songs for my RU-vid videos.. People say ‘educate them and let them learn from there mistakes’ (mainly to blackpink is what I see) But I don’t really see the point if there just going to keep doing the same shit again and not apologize. I don’t know why they can’t take matters into there own hands and apologize, but they NEED to fucking apologize. I am done with them not appreciating black culture (and others) and then calling our cultures swag, cool, aesthetic. This is far too out of damn hand and I’m tired of it. Our cultures is not to be used for “aesthetic” it has deep meanings to it. I don’t understand why they can’t just learn abt our cultures. The 2 year break they had should’ve been long enough to learn about a few. I love them but they really need to apologize.
Honestly I had many asian friends who were inspired by me and wanted braids like me. But this was appreciation. What these kpop idols are doing is just putting braids in their hair when they want to look “ghetto” and “cool”. You will never see a kpop idol that has a “elegant” look (E.g Jisoo) to them wearing afro textured hairstyles. Why? Because they think that our hair represents all these negative stereotypes. I will disapprove of other races wearing our hairstyles ( apart from the occasional exception) they often times try to accumulate a stereotype.
they're a YGE group, its a requirement to be problematic. AKMU are the only ones I can think of with no scandal because the siblings run themselves instead of the company.
@@AdeolaAsh I honestly think it’s because bp is built of black culture that they became the biggest girl group. Other K-pop ggs will have raps and use small elements but in more small doses. Creating a brand that imitates blackness can blow up careers, ie elvis or Ariana grande. Ariana was already popular but 7 rings made her a superstar. Bts first English single wasn’t related to their album release from four/five months before, but disco? And instantly was hit with a bb number 1.
it’s sad because i’ve been stanning and defending them for a good five years, but all of that has gone to waste. they don’t seem to really learn from their mistakes. the only time that they apologized for doing something wrong was when lisa wore braids. plus, it wasn’t really an apology considering the fact that it was on a fan call. so basically if that fan hadn’t pointed it out, she would have never apologized for it. and many blinks are defending them saying that they “didn’t know”. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE. the 4 members are grown mature women who are pushing 30, i’m sure they know what they’re doing. i used to love them, i just can’t support their heartless apathy anymore.
I come back to your channel every once in a while to remind myself why I left kpop and krnb in the dust. The shallowness, racism, colorism, and classism that is perpetuated by not only the idols but the the fans and companies respectively make me sick to my stomach. And it’s sad because I truly like kpop, but as a black woman there is no way in hell I’m supporting the genre and the music careers of these people. That industry is very toxic honestly. People that act shocked every time a kpop idol reveals they have depression, or when a kpop idol passes away due to depression make me realize that these “fans” refuse to hear what many have been saying for years: the kpop industry is toxic to both the idols and the public.
Love that you said how they are cosplaying black people and not bringing themselves into it! Its so true. Like no one is saying you're not allowed to rap! But rap from the heart, from your own personal taste. Inspired by black artists is great. But if you're copying their accent, their hair, all this shit, it's juet a mockery and a rip off.
as a black blink (lisa stan) for 6 years its really hard and blinks as a whole need to understand that holding the girls accoutable isnt hard to do. I remember few months back i got attacked by a once (twice stan) for calling out jisoo for mocking desis in a video she did with a man during flower era and they tell me that we kpop stans like to cancel idols for things they didnt do (mind you their faves arw doing the same thing jisoo did at their concert too so why they coming at me for🤷🏾)
Lmao as a black person, do you really still pay their rent and look at yourself in the mirror like??? Embarrassing, our ancestors would be more than ashamed, they clearly didn’t fight for that
It makes me mad how people have to forcefully change their accent's to get jobs etc when celebrities like these women can turn their fake ones on and off and get popular from it
THANK YOU ADEOLA for talking about them, really I am in shock at how everyone is closing their eyes on them when they are clearly making the money out of appropriating others people's culture, especially BLACK, some of them are clearly black wannabes probably watching black artists videos h24 thinking that's how they look especially that last mv LMAO get them. I wish Rosé and Jisoo get detached from them, the whole branding is getting down to that!!! ALSO don't let them bring you down ADEOLA when they come to get you lol, you're spitting the truth and they hate to see it. Also whats up with black people idolising them lmao those are people wishing to be YOU wake up
I am glad to see you’re back to making videos. Edit: Hearing you talk about Lisa’s natural dialect and accent versus when she’s performing, reminds me of the negative comments people like Cardi B receive for her Bronx dialect. I’m sure that the same people who go “It’s not a big deal,” when Lisa raps are the same ones calling Cardi “ghetto,” “ratchet” or a “bird” because of her natural tone. Even people called Beyoncé “slow” and “country” because of her Houstonian accent. But Lisa gets a pass? 🙄 Also, K-Pop stans should be happy that BlackPink isn’t “mainstream” because they would get dragged. And it would be by people from the industry. And they will get dragged by people, who don’t get a flying-fig about blinks’ threats.
Just came across this page recently and I like the contents.. As a black blink(new), I would say that even if they want to imitate the black culture, the least they could do is to come clean and give credit and appreciation to the people they're obviously ripping off from than to feign ignorance and keep repeating the same mistakes even after being notified. They need to do better fr!
It’s crazy cause the biggest part about being a rapper is writing your own raps which Teddy does for the group… Lisa can dance I’ll give her that, but that’s why I stan Jisoo lol
"Their failure to show up authentically as themselves" That really is hitting the nail on the head. A lot of rapping in kpop is essentially pop rap. I think a lot of people can accept that, even if it was weird at first coming across rapping in kpop (weird because it wasn't as serious or seem to have the same credibility that you'd expect in Hip hop). That being said, it would've been very cool to see what girls from Korea did with their interpretation of rap and hip hop that filtered through their culture/age/personality/ect. But why use "finna" if you don't use that word? Why act hard if you are not hard at all? Some bravado is okay, but it should still be reasonable to your own personality. Hip hop artists and rappers are judged harshly for their credibility and authenticity. It's obvious they didn't know hip hop enough, otherwise they would of felt like a poser.
I’m shocked this video doesn’t have more views, because it’s something blinks desperately need to see. The amount of them that defend blackpink by saying that “they do it because of the concept” is sickening. Just because they have a girl crush concept doesn’t mean they need to rap with blaccent!!
7:19 I remember of that pre debut video where blackpink are dancing to "b*tch better hace my money" by Rihanna, maybe that is the only song by her that Jennie knows about haha Edit: Anyways i'm sure Jennie doesn't know what hip-hop is and my english is really basic so i apology for any misunderstood 🙏
@QueenJisoo! 🌹 🌺 Jennie referring to Rihanna as a "hip-hop artist" even though she's not proves that most of these Kpop "rappers" only have their positions because they think being a rapper makes them look cool and have swagger. They don't care to do research about the history of rap or learn the difference between a hip-hop artist and a R&B artist, let alone the fact that not all black musicians put out hip-hop music or raps.
@@summerspice123 I heard another youtube commentatory say, "rappers" are just members who cannot sing, but have the "look". I think this is true for the overall majority (there are a few exceptions, which are obvious).
7:36 I totally agree. Personally I'm not good at differentiating music genres but the fact that a member of a group labelled as "the biggest k-pop group" and basically began her career as a artist it's embarassing and ignorant that she doesnt know what hip-hop ,rnb ,pop is. I bet they are just repeating whatever yg puts on the table. Ignorant and disappointing. But anyway they are selling. Blame the fans atp.
Ok. This def makes more sense as to why I felt conflicted listening to some of their songs and their music videos. Not that a Korean can’t sport that style but I feel like it’s only for the aesthetic and not the cultural history and significance. Also not them describing Rihanna as hip hop! ☠️☠️☠️
So glad you are back! And I highly appreciate that you have subtitles on these videos! Makes it even more accessible and it's nice to see the effort made ♡
I've been a blink for 6 years now and been holding out hope that they will change but I gave up after pink venom. It's really setting in how egregious their insensitivity is. It's so disappointing as a black fan especially. I think ima just solo stan Jisoo and call it a day. These idols make it so hard to stay into Kpop with good conscience like why is it so hard for them to care?
To the last part of your comment, I wouldn't say it's "hard" for them to care, but rather they just "don't want to"!! We've seen time and time again how the choices they make are extremely deliberate and on purpose. Unfortunately, thinking that everyone has the same morals as us will bring disappointment, so it's best to take things/people as they are. :-/
the complete disrespect and insensitivity towards indian culture in kpop is truly upsetting. and it’s upsetting how often it’s happening still even in 2023.
i feel like people are quicker to call these things out when its about black culture (rightfully so) but not as much when its about indian culture. maybe its just not happening around me, but it seems as tho a lot of people brush the disrespect/appropiation off when its about indian culture. in kpop, indian elements are everywhere, but i hardly see people make videos or posts calling it out. its crazy.
@@ajlee2168 That’s because Black people advocate for themselves. Due to slavery, worldwide anti-blackness, and colonization, most Black people in the diaspora are aware that we have to fight to get anything- civil rights, basic respect, etc. So due to Black people constantly doing the work to explain things so other people can understand us and treat us better, you will see more non-Black people discussing those same talking points. Furthermore, non-Black people make a lot of money and get a lot of engagement from talking about Black people’s problems which is another incentive for them to be outspoken about it. Black people applaud them and give them the clicks and views, and non-Black people also engage since they prefer watching non-Black/ambiguous people talk about Black issues (due to anti-blackness).
AAHHHHH You are back! I am so happy to see you back. You have been greatly missed. Thank you for coming back and exposing Kpop. It can not be easy becasue you get hate from so many. I hope you know you are needed in this space and are appreciated.
the definition of hip-hop really made me upset, like bro, it seems like she don't even consume the hip-hop culture or don't give a danm about its history
Good video! I think at this point of Korean music disrespecting black culture and our people. I think it would be very interesting if some black musicians no matter what genre they’re in make diss tracks on them just for kicks. 😂🤣
Bro if you can’t even describe what hip hop is then that’s a sign you need to stop, I’m honestly tired of them , they can’t keep making excuses they’re grown ass women 🥴
Most non-black entertainers always use black people's music, clothes', looks, style to make money but yet always quick too judge the real cultural who create all of it .
What gets me is that it's easy to learn, apologize and move on. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone is ignorant in some way. So if a person does something offensive to another culture and didn't realize it but apologized and learned, I'm okay with that! Especially if it was an honest mistake and not malicious. But after being told OVER and OVER again that what you are doing is offensive....there's no excuse.
Amazing video! I guess it just goes to show how Kpop blatantly profits off black culture yet exploits and mocks it at the same time. It's almost as if they're dismantling black culture, adds a South Korean spin to it, then viola. All of a sudden Kpop becomes a renowned success. In other words, Kpop= Black culture made 'better' to some extent. Disgusting behaviour, really. Also, I feel like k entertainment companies have been focusing way too much on training their idols to be the best singers/dancers and building their idols' images that they neglect that idols go on interviews and will be asked about things in realtion to the outside world not just South Korea. That cultural insensitivity and lack of awareness speaks for itself and if nothing changes it'll be the downfall of kpop in no time. I stopped being a k-pop fan because at some point I was really starting to see through the industry's BULLSH*T. Mind you that was about 8 years ago. The ignorance, hypocrisy and sheer audacity that continues to exist within the kpop industry is GROSS. Colurism, cultural appropriation, ignorance, racism, discrimination you name it. As someone who grew up in Hong Kong with no black people around me, I had to learn it the hard way when I got in trouble for saying the n word cause people around me lied to me and said it was just another slang like 'swag'. I went to study in a foreign country since then and have since been very careful about making inappropriate remarks. The thing with the k entertainment industry is they literally do not see a problem with idols making those remarks which SCREAMS insensitivity and ignorance. Though I want to say that this form of insensitivity happens in Japan too because gyaru culture (a subculture in Japan) is very much inspired by black culture and blackfacing as a means to challenge the japanese beauty standard which isn't very appropriate either imo.
In my opinion the entire music industry is screwed both in USA and in SK. The record companies bottom line is to make profits. I'm really offended with Justin Bieber, "Peaches" song being called RNB, like WTF!!! Anyway nice video, SK economy is ranking in Billions off of Black Cultural, not just music, but fashion, beauty and tourism. The entire Korean wave would have been a ripple, without the influence of Black Cultural.
You're back, I'm so exited! I'm not looking forward to arguing with crazy blinks who don't want to question the problematic things that their faves do but I know not all of them are like that and I really hope people can just listen without being defensive.

Watched this video just 9 minutes before this group was set to go on the Coachella stage on the Coachella RU-vid channel and decided to skip them by the time I finished this video.
Atp nobody cares coz despite being a non existent k-pop group with less than 20 song in their whole career and being ignorant they are extremely popular and is on top of the world.
For Lisa, as she came from Thailand going to Korea, she would do anything of course to make it. I did noticed on her behind the scene, her videographer is a black person. A lot goes on BEHIND and you would be surprised who works behind. They decide who is their fav artist, but can't decide everything as they are playing idol. As soon as they do cover mags for the big names (Celine, Dior) they become something else. Even Rose when you close your eyes and hear her singing voice, that is Avril Lavigne. Basically the South Korean Kpop is mimicking a lot of what we hear on Western Music. They notice and now it has started to become a problem there with agencies who wants their idol to mimick western culture, makes forgetting about the East Asian fanbased. The Western Music Industry itself seem to have shift there. You can hear Snoop, Kid Cuty, Gomez, aand they even referenced Taylor Swift in "Pink Venom".
That Black videographer stated himself that he would say something if Lisa tried to culturally appropriate in a video he was in charge of. If Lisa doing anything she could to be famous includes stepping on other communities, that’s just something she will have to face consequences for. As she said in the fan call with the fan, she chose those braids for “Money”, she wasn’t forced to do them and that is just one example. Lisa isn’t from a poor family, it’s not like fame is something she needed to save her life and disrespecting others isn’t the only pathway to fame either. YG has always mimicked Black culture with their groups, that’s nothing new and it’s been working for them as you can see.
@@AdeolaAsh Ahhh I didn't know that part about the videographer. That is good to know because I always wondered. I did see some yt choreographer from the US giving ALL old school dance moves to them (I used to dance then that's how I can recognize signature moves). Yeah, Lisa has even did on a show a mimick of a song "Crab Dance" that had a big scandal in Thailand but she never acknowledge or apologized to her own Thai community. I think BlackPink is there for shock value. The only one who has less is Jisoo maybe because she is the oldest and has to show maturity. Even in Korea it seems they don't get invited to shows like the others, and I believe it has to do with them doing things mostly for the Western World. I wished if they are to culturally appropriate, they should use mainly work with blacks who created the genre. Just like Justin Bieber did (Usher and Diddy). They are an okay group (I say okay because the last 2 mv there was TONS of edits and flashes to show how big of a thing they have, but on scene, it is lukewarm ..my opinion) but BlackPink seems to being mostly being problematic for shock value. I will doubt they will continue that route.
@@MissJhane I’m also curious from a marketing standpoint if they’ll continue pulling these stunts as they’re marketing more towards North America and Europe than before

Im really hurt this time . Can you pls make a video on that . Plsss can you !!!!!!!
I’ll see what I can do! In the meantime, you might want to check out a channel called “kpopish.”! They’re Indian and they talk about these topics all the time, likely much better than I ever could
i want to know your thoughts on lisa's singing in 'shoong!' with taeyang; i am not black, but when i heard her voice i was like, "oooo, no thanks" watching this, it seems certain that she was singing with a blaccent, but again, i'm white, i'm just going off what you have said in the video, and what i've heard of her voice, and what others have had to say abt her voice
I audibly laughed when I saw the clip on twitter. Yes, Lisa is using the same blaccent she normally uses in Shoong. When she says “Put the pedal to the floor when I hit the door”, she pronounces floor like “flow” and door likes “dow” which is not her natural accent but rather an accent heard from some Black Americans.
@@AdeolaAsh yeah, i did mean to clarify that i have heard her use blaccent before, but with time and stuff, people's voice change, and i am not the greatest at picking up distinct accents
Honestly, for me it’s like a love and hate relationship with them but now I’m slowly starting to loss interest in BlackPink at this point🤡 Welcome back btw😊❤
People need to know that being worldwide famous doesn't mean that they are educated. They drop out to pursue being idols, most idols including Blackpink are quite dumb. When they spoke about global warming I got secondhand embarrassment. Also having a fluent English-speaking accent doesn't make one intelligent as well💀💀
They were ages 14 to 16 when they became K-pop trainees. At age 14, I knew better than this. In elementary school is when people knew not to do that Native American war cry mocking motion. The more complex topics have been explained to them over and over. Being dumb is not an excuse for promoting racist stereotypes, especially when this information is easily accessible, even from people on their own team who have publicly acknowledged they know about these issues
@@AdeolaAsh exactly!idk why the company allows them to repeat it, even after people called them out. Like they have no other color besides their *swag* concept in order to stay badass or relevant.
I doubt I’d give them a dedicated video. To my knowledge, they do the typical blaccent + braids combo right? Since they’re not K-Pop (they’re Japanese and sing in English) I don’t even know where I’d fit them into my content or if they’re even worth the time to be honest. I know recently their stylist said they won’t do the braids anymore and apologized if I remember correctly. They’re relatively new, so let’s see where it goes from here
@@AdeolaAsh yeah, XG is a Japanese group who sings in English in the Korean market. which is strange. I dont know if i would call them "typical", But I like their music and now I hate myself, lol. I thought they would be a good topic for your channel since they are so unique and clearly taking from RnB music. anyway, Love the content! keep up the great work!
@@RedisNotaFlavor do you listen to Flo? They’re a Black British girl group who do 90s sounding R&B, you might like them if you like XG! spotify.link/Gh4H9T5mYyb
Listen. I teach kids all over Asia. They love BlackPink. So I RU-vid's them and was immediately disturbed by these girls being so popular off of AA Culture. Annoyed and disgusted. 🙄
