Hi l have a question , l bought a k1600 in 2018 , l rarely drove it but l did put 6000 miles on it and having changed the oil yet . I remember they told me when l bought the bike to bring it in at 300 miles for the first service . I my mind l have never done it , because l thought the wanted to take advantage of me because it coasted $500 . Now , l realize that l made a big mistake , my bike runs , but not good , specially when l’m in higher speed l feel life it doesn’t want to give me it potential . I’m planing to take it in for the first service after 6 years . I just hope that l did destroyed my bike . I’m so made of my stupidity because l bought it 30k brand new . Do you have idea what can happen to the bike if not oil changed for the first 6000 miles ?
@Thebossfromdc have you ever checked the level? Your oil is probably toast. The filter is probably clogged or has blown out. Good news is this is an easy job you can do yourself for about 60 bucks. If you're close to Memphis, I'll do it for the cost of oil and a filter, and we'll see how it goes. If you ran the sump dry, the ECU should have thrown alarms that you'd see. My guess is your oil pressure is low, so hopefully you haven't been romping on it. The dealer will want to do a flush if you tell them that, and that's about $1K. Find someone who knows what they're doing and have them look at it first
