K2 First Ascent in 1954, Italian Karakoram Expedition

Prof.Ardito Desio was expedition Leader and the
final team was composed of 17 members, including,12 climbers:
1- Arich Abram, 32 years of age, of Bolzano
2- Ugo Angelino, 32 years of age, of Biella
3- Walter Bonatti (the youngest team member, 23 years old), of Monza
4- Achille Compagnoni, 40 years of age, of Cervinia
5- Cirllo Floreanini, 30 years of age, of Cave di Predil
6- Pino Gallotti, engineer, 36 years of age, of Milan.
7- Lino Lacedelli, 29 years of age, of Cortina d’Ampezzo
8- Mario Puchoz, 36 years of age, of Courmayeur
9- Ubaldo Rey, 32 years of age, of Courmayeur
10- Gino Soldà (the oldest team member),47 years of age, of Recoaro
11-Sergio Viotto. 26 years of age, of Courmayeur
12-Mario Fantin, Photographer, 33 years of age, of Bologna, Bologna
The other members were:
13- Cap.Francesco Lombardi, 36 years of age from the Military Geographical Institute
14- Prof.Antonio Marussi, 46 years of age, Professor of Geophysics in the University of Trieste, Geophysicist
15- Prof.Paolo Graziosi, 48 years of age, Professor of Ethnography in the University of Florence, Ethnographer.
16- Dr.Bruno Zanettin, 31 years of age, Professor of Petrography at the University of Padua, Petrographer
17- Dr.Guido Pagani (Physician), 37 years of age,
