K2 FIT 90 Boa Inline Skate Review

Thank you for watching this review of the 2021 K2 FIT 90 BOA inline skate / rollerblade.
The K2 FIT 90 Boa isn't a terrible inline skate, it will preform ok, but you can do much better for your money.
The K2 FIT 90 Boa is not comfortable on skates longer than 20 or 30 minutes because of the narrow toe box and lack of arch support. Out of the 6 pairs of inline skates I have ridden this one is the most uncomfortable. For the price of $300 there are many other inline skates on the market that are much more comfortable and less expensive.
Hope you found this review useful! Thank you for any comments or likes.

I got the K2 BOA 80 fit 2020 on sale after a few years off skating due to injury and as my SEBA FRX 80s did not fit anymore... didnt think my feet would grow a size in my 30s, weird. I have to agree, K2 as a brand, garbage. Horrible skate, not comfy at all. At best these may work on a rink, certainly not outdoors. Support sucks and there is zero cushioning, the insole was the thinnest I have ever seen, so you are absorbing all shock and the bolt is going right into your heel. The moulded wheel frames were at a weird degree angle, so forces your feet outwards too far, so you cannot roll with a natural position going straight. The ankle support was weak, far too much movement and once you break the boot in, just collapses. The WORST part is the boa system, it sounds good in theory, but in practice not great. You cannot adjust the tightness in specific areas, it will tighten uniformly. So if you need it tighter around the ankle but not your foot, it will cut off blood to your foot, not great, laces are better. I prefer tighter around the ankle and less around my foot. I wanted to like them, but for $250, Rollerblade make a better budget rec skate, but honestly you are better off getting FR 80 skates for the same price with a hard shell, amazingly comfy Liner, better bearings, wheels and custom options. These things can look and sound cool, but in reality are bloody crap. Downside is you dont realise this until you use them and thus, cannot return them.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in this incredibly insightful comment! I think reading this may help as many other inline skaters as the review, hopefully people won't get stuck with skates like these when they could use their money to get a much more comfortable and useful pair! I've not been able to get a pair of FR 80's yet but am on the hunt and stoked to try them based on your recommendation! Agree with with everything you've said, had the same exact experience. Thanks again and have a good one!

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer No worries, just wish id found your review before I got mine haha. Just about saving people time, money and frustration mate. Skating is taking off again and they aren't cheap, which is ironic as its very hard to find good reviews on budget skates... most are on guys riding $1000 Sebas or something, which doesnt really help the average person. I started off again on Rollerblade entry level fitness skates, they were good. But FR are the go to for the average skater.

See now that comment about the uniform tightness just got me thinking hard… I was dead set on the BOA system because I remember in the 90’s that being such a pain in the ass to get the laces right.. and I’m sure they are much better now but that boa system had me sold But you mentioning the fact that I can’t tighten ONLY where I need makes a ton of sense and something I hadn’t heard mentioned before when people praise them…. I often want more around the ankle but a bit lose directly on top of my mid foot…. Thanks for this. Think I will end up going for the macros after all this. And of course to The Fitness Junkie for really hitting home how important good support and comfort is above all else…. A successful video and comment section., thanks to you both

That's a great point man, I didn't try heat moulding the liners in my K2's. I have super wide feet as well and that might be why I'm having comfort issues with my K2's. I will say other than the foot comfort issues both the K2's I own do seem super high quality, the stock wheels K2 equips are much better than what comes on a Rollerblade. I love the way the K2 rides it's just that after 40 minutes I can't wait to get them off. Gonna try heat moulding my liners on the FIT 90 to see if it helps. Thanks again

Thank you so much for this video! I was sold on the K2 and changed my mind after watching your review. I‘ve got a rather wide foot and the K2 were super uncomfortable. I ended up buying the Macroblade 90. Most comfortable boot I‘ve had so far. The only downside is that they are a bit slow. I might try and change the bearings. However… overall great inline-skate! 💫

Thank you for the comment Mathias! Happy the video helped. I love the macroblade line, they're all pretty comfy! You nailed the only downside though and that is they come with mediocre bearings and wheels. My advice is to thrash those in the shoulder season when the paths are wet and full of debris and get a high end set for when things are nice and clean and dry. That's the way I do it here in Canada anyways, our path conditions can be crazy. Have an awesome day!

Thanks for the comment and question Ron! The only skates I'll wear in the city are the macroblade 1003WD because they are so nimble and maneuverable. Easy to avoid obstacles, make fast sharp turns and stops. Light enough to jump over things. And they are decently fast too, accelerate quick. They aren't my favorite for long distance on the paved bike paths but I believe they are my best all around pair. Hope that helps! I also had to quit running for overuse injury reasons, skating lets me get that runner's high every day without punishing my body. Hope it works as well for you too! Cheers

@TheLastHonestInfluencer 3 года назад
Hi Nils! I'm not aware of any other liners that fit comfortably and have a BOA lace system. The way I made my K2V02 BOA liner work was by finally trying *heat moulding* them. It was a little tricky but now I can skate much more comfortably in them. I do find the BOA lace system on the V02's apply much more even pressure to my foot and ankle than other hand pulled quick lace systems (like on the Macroblade 100 3WD). It took a year but I can finally call them comfortable! Hope that helps. Any other questions please feel free to ask!

Hi! It must be the shape of your feet! I have had various models of K2 skates, from fitness to K2 MOD 125 carbon, and they all fit perfectly! I have thin feet and K2 is simply the best brand for me. Comfortable AND tight at the same time! The BOA system works great. Also, I have quite wide (protruding) ankles for my thin feet, and I've never had problems with them in any K2 skates (no pain). Unlike with Rollerblades or Powerslide. E.g. I've just had to take off the upper (ankle) cuff and buckle off my Powerslide Kaze 90 skates. I'd say they are pretty good and sturdy urban skates, but whatever I did, I never got rid of the ankle pain (until taking off the whole cuff, now it's ok). Still, my feet / my soles aren't as comfy in these boots as they ALWAYS are in K2 boots! True, e.g. my sister who has wider feet than me, didn't find K2 very comfortable and bought another brand (she doesn't skate that much, so she has bought just one pair of skates so far). So it may really depend on the shape of your feet, but for me, K2 is the best! Plus, I have exactly the opposite experience: I can ride my K2s all day long, while e.g. those Powerslide Kaze, it's like 20 mins... half an hour, I know they're solidly built and everything, but after some time I just want to take them off. My advice to everyone is: Don't be put off by this review. Try them on and if you find them comfy, go for them, they might be the right skates for you!

Thank you for the comment. I think it's important anyone considering these and watching this review can read your positive experience with them. 1-2 hours is a solid skate, if you can get that long of a session in them then they are quality. The reason I'm having issues must just be the shape of my foot as they are sized correctly. They are definitely working out incredibly well for you! Thanks again and happy skating.

Go with the V02'S for sure, like 1000%! In my opinion the V02'S are K2's best model for the money. Super comfy, fit like a dream and screaming fast. I have the V02 S100 boa and they are the best 4 wheel skate I've ever owned. Have put thousands of km's on them... stopped counting after 3k. Highly recommend! Glad you asked!! I also love the frames, rotating the wheels is so much easier and faster so you can rotate them twice as often and extended the life of your wheels like crazy. I can't say enough positive things about the V02'S. The only thing to be aware of is you will probably need to swap out the insole. Help...I’m a female advanced beginner/intermediate skater looking for a fitness skate. I need narrow, low profile but supportive boot (I need arch support) I just returned rollerblade macroblade 100 for two reasons 1) I now know I don’t want a fast skate, I need to actually workout 2) my feet were cramping horribly because they’re too wide and a high profile boot, my shins hurt instantly from me gripping my metatarsals.

@TheLastHonestInfluencer 3 года назад
Finding the perfect fitting inline skates can be a challenge. Because you have narrow feet the K2's might work for you but I would suggest taking out the crappy insole they come with and replacing it with an after market one that has arch support. That's how I have modified my K2's to work for me although I still cant wear them near as long as my macroblade 80's and Zetrablades. One thing I notice at the start of every season is that when I tighten my boots too tight I get shin splints. It takes a while to get used to having them looser but I find this is the only way I can do longer distances comfortably. I'm with you 100% on using slower skates to get better workouts you're on the right track! Hope those two suggestions help and I hope you find the perfect skates soon. It can be a hassle trying all the different models but it's well worth it for the workout benefits! Thank you for the comment if you have any other questions please feel free to ask!

That's a great idea to review tracks man, would be a lot of fun as also! Well, I hope you are able to find a good comfortable pair you can cruise in soon being able to go for a skate is a godsend sometimes. Have a good one man and thanks again for your comments!

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer No, thank yoU, Morning! I am now waiting to get the Powerslide Phuzion Argon 110. I 'll let you know how they feel, I also have wide feet. Another idea for your videos, "socks" I like the Wool made ones, and sometimes compression socks but prefer the wool. one of the most important details about your videos, i enjoy your voice! sorry i write too much, i know you have more people to reply,. thanks a lot, and ill tell you later what i found that helped me with the lower back pain from rollerblading. later

@@NN-kn1on Sweet! Those skates look awesome. I haven't been able to try them yet so I'd love to know how you like them!! That's a great idea for a video and I couldn't agree with you more how important socks are to the skating experience, took me a long time to find a pair that kept my feet cool and blister free. Thank you! And thank you also for the compliment on my audio, took a long time and many different mic's to find a setup that sounded good so I'm really happy to hear that it was worth the time and effort. Thank you for all the comments man, I really enjoy chatting to other likeminded fitness and inline skating enthusiasts such as yourself, makes making and posting these videos worth while! @@TheLastHonestInfluencer a lot. Great comfortable skate. The only thing is the sizing of k2. I don't know why they change the sizing from 39/40/41 to 42,5/43,5 etc. Problem is 42 would be my exact size. 42,5 is a tiny bit to loose. But with tightening the skate to the Max and thicker socks it works fine. They are light, roll perfectly, the insole is a bit thin, which can distract the foot a bit, but changing it especially since I have room left might work perfectly. And what I really love is, how easy I can get in and out of my boot. The wheels on the other side are really unreliable if they are driven hard. They are at the same time sticky but also wear down so extreme, that you can loose control while sliding because they melt on the street....

Which are better?
@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer 3 года назад
Thanks for the question! If you're set on getting K2's the V02 S100 are a far superior model. Spend the extra $50 or so bucks you'll be much happier in the long run. If you're open to trying other brands the Macroblade by rollerblade are WAY more comfortable and perform just as well and are a lot less expensive. I personally skate the Macroblade 80 and 100 3WD's weekly (and the V02's) and find them far superior to these FIT 90's (which I got rid of). Hope that helps! Any other questions please feel free to ask and thanks again for your comment.

It's all about the fit, so don't take this guy's word for it, but try it yourself (especially if you have slim feet). For me at least, I never had a skate that fit as well as this one! So, I don't agree with the video (very opinionated based on the author's feet). Also, I specifically got it for the boa system, as it really takes just 10 seconds for getting in and out. Having said that, I am not happy with the quality, the soft boot started to fall apart after a little over 2 years. But that's not the topic of the video.

‘This guy’!? I’m right here 🥲 Yeah the boa is sweet! K2 makes a wicked no system. Except on new models your fingers get sliced on the plastic buckle when you do them up but it’s livable. My k2 vo2 boots fell apart after 4,000kms as well. 90mm skates suck everyone. Replacement wheels are expensive and hard to find. Don’t take ‘this guys’ word for it and trust me. You want 100mm wheels or 80mm wheels. 90mm is the red headed step child of in-line skate wheels diameters.
