1987 E30 BMW 325 Kswapped with a KPower Industries kit. First start up after (many) months of work.
Specs & components:
- 1987 BMW 325, factory automatic car, swapped with Getrag 260
- Custom 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with catalytic converter & Flowmonster muffler
- 3" intake piping to cone filter
- Honda 50 degree RBC cam gear
- 410cc Acura RDX injectors
- E46 712 "Gold Tag" steering rack with E46 inner tie rods and E36 outer tie rods

Hoping for about 215-225 at the wheels, which is a pretty good power to weight ratio for this chassis.

Following up, got it dyno tuned a couple of months ago. Did 223hp and 199 ft lbs at the wheels.

Hi, I really interested to your project and maybe will kswapping my e30. Do you have an ig account? May i know how bad the vibration is? Is it still tolerable for daily driving? Thank you

@@audraf I don’t have an ig, no. If you’re going to daily drive it, get rid of the poly mounts that the KPower kit comes with. The vibrations were bad enough for me that I swapped them out for a set of rubber OEM BMW e28 535i mounts. Much better, but there is still some NVH on deceleration, and a very slight buzz at idle. Not enough to be annoying.

Nice looking Into that kit aswell, how would you say it drives compared to the 6 cylinder?

Surprisingly torquey down low, so you don’t need to wind it out for around town driving. It’s definitely not as smooth as the M20, more NVH overall, but a lot of that is dependent on engine mount choice. I ended up switching to oem e28 mounts, and it reduced a lot of the vibrations.

i have a 85 e30 im currently kswapping, i hear people need to run a late model cluster is that true?

That’s what I’ve heard. All depends on where your coding chip is. If it’s in the front, then you’re good, but if it’s at the back of the cluster, you might need to swap for a later year cluster.

Overall, pretty good. The header is not so good, or at the least the one I got. Fitment was not great, was rubbing the control arm and contacting the underside of the body. Had to get it modified to fit better. Also, the flange was a bit warped, so it wouldn’t tighten down evenly. Oil pan took 4 months to get made and shipped, so plan accordingly.

@@onemannedgarageI agree the header is pretty trash. I had to cut off the flange and replace with a v-band. Do you have problems with the bolts holding the slip on together? I used lock washers and Loctite, and still have problems with them loosening from the vibration.

@@nasserkhaja4655 Yup, same issue, the bolts kept vibrating loose, so I had a shop weld it instead. No issues since.
