as a (war thunder) heli pilot myself, generally you want to find a good place on the map that takes advantage of both your missiles maximum range as well as any cover/concealment available i.e. buildings, hills, etc, so you can duck behind them in case a missile is fired at you. i mean its kind of common sense. the same principle applies with tanks - find cover if there's any available and if there isnt, then find concealment or move to somewhere else where there is cover.

the KA-50 costs more than games like borderlands 3. That’s how I determine if something has value or not is if I can compare the amount of fun I can have in a game like borderlands and still save $10 compared to some counter rotaty boye

I liked warthunder. In the beginning it was an amazing and great game with great potential. But time has shown where it will go and it didn't take long and the game fed with honest iron from the days of the old wars is gone. Modern technology, helicopters, tanks that are slowly faster than a conventional folk vehicle. I haven't played the game for a year and I don't regret it. I'd love to find enthusiasm like Phly again, but when I see videos from updates and other youtubers, I feel like crying as the 900 hours came to nothing.

The sad thing is, top tier would be the most fun it's been in a long time if not for choppers. Gaijin are great at ruining great experiences

I know the actual SL and balance problem can be issued, but yall ever stop to consider maybe this is what modern war is really like? Modern tanks really dont have too many options against a target, let alone a target 6km+ away, whilst some of the newest helicopter DL-ATGMs can even fire over the horizon while remaining completely hid. In fact only modern theatre SAM air defenses (not the self-propelled point defences we have to use in war thunder top tier rn) and fighter planes are used to bring down attack choppers that are well hid, well armed and with modern counter measures. Although you still cant help modern heli's that are forced to take risky routes over the battlefield (just ask any soviet helicopter pilot that served in afghanistan facing the mujahadeen MANPADS)

Helis were cool addition but they're either useless or bat shit op kind of around the time they came out i stopped playing as much as i used too.

That thing acctually has armour piercing rounds for its 30mm that can pen 100mm of armour. Really good for shooting the roof of tanks
