A long time ago in the 80’s I went up there to Ka’au Crater. And believe me we did not go the way you went, we went up along that small mountain in front of Ka’au Crater. The one that’s visible, it’s a smaller one that you see first before Ka’au. A friend and I could see the people below us hiking the trail. Anyway we ended up at the electric power lines that run right over the Crater. We had a perfect view straight into the crater. I still have those pictures with me from that time. If we had camping equipment for sure we would have stayed overnight and left the following morning. We had a big clearing all around us. Aloha ke akua!!!!!
