When I see a sport with which I am not familiar, naturally I start to compare it with other sports that I know better. It's the chant which makes kabaddi different from any sport I know. I try to imagine the sports I know with the chant, and they become completely different. Imagine if in basketball whoever is in possession of the ball has to continuously chant "basket, basket, basket" and if he takes a breath before getting rid of the ball he's out. The game would be utterly different. Imagine if in baseball the runner can run from base to base until he is tagged out, thrown out... or has to take a breath. "Doubleday, Doubleday, Doubleday {breathes} Double... ah nuts, I'm out!" But it's OK if he's standing on base. Totally different game now. I'm going to watch some videos of kabaddi. It's an amazing game, mostly because of the chant.
+Sailor Barsoom : The chant is taken as a measure to see the control of the breath of the raider who goes to the other side. This helps anyone to have better health by having good breath control.
couple of questions: What prevents defenders from all tackling the raider at once as soon as he gets close? What would prevent a raider from being able to touch the bulk line?
As to the first question, at any sign of attack the raider will retreat most likely touching at least 1 anti, infact the raider has to be enticed to advance, he doesnt have to. As for the second question, the baulk line is primarily there to prevent time wasting by a team with a significant lead and give the trailing team a chance to catch up, infact it doesnt need to be crossed if a tag is made, hope that helps.
Exactly sister, these punjabis think they discovered this sport and they are monopolying the sport in other countries claiming its theirs, shameless people. Its Tamil pride and Tamil sport which we should never hand it to other people.
I really want to learn and play for a youth club in the UK but I couldnt find a youth club in the county I reside West Yorkshire, could anyone send a website or something please
When you said chanting kabaddi 30 sec, what does it means. Is the raider has to chant all the time during the raid? And if he/she failed the chant is considered broken?
+nazaruddin abu zaharin Yes. The Chant is a measure of the breath control. The control over breath is mainly looked as not to take inhale during the ride(30 seconds) once entered the opponent court.
this is a generally good video well done. the only thing I have to say is that historically this game originates from Punjab which is a district of both india and Pakistan as it was split in half during their independence from each other. so this is actually a Pakistani sport as well as indian. Apart from this thank you for the video it is really good
AHMED AKRAM Gani yes, kabaddi is been orginated in tamil nadu.... and the punjabi game is been called as kabbadi...... not kabaddi........ the kabaddi is a game of tamil nadu......
Exactly bro, these punjabis think they discovered this sport and they are monopolying the sport in other countries claiming its theirs, shameless people.
