I have one of the BK2 knives and believe it is a great knife, except for the extraction of the knife from the sheath. I hear that the blade gets dull when removing the knife from the sheath, but can't say anything about that.

I heard the knife does get dull too. I was considering making a leather sheath for that reason.

Did you file the spine or just use the same area for fire starting?

I filed the spine slightly to create a 90 degree edge. Worked great!
