Vance isn't too far off. A large majority of tapes I've gotten are actually inherited from growing up; we exclusively recorded for the purposes of time-shifting but everything that remains is a result of whatever we didn't record over before moving to the DVR. In addition, a small handful of tapes come from thrift stores and a few more come from eBay, which the latter is the case for this particular upload. The seller checked through what was on the tape and it was a set of holiday specials from over-the-air TV with the commercials intact. It captured my interest so I went ahead and bought it!
