Islas de Gigantes in Carles, Iloilo, is a stunning group of islands known for their clear blue waters, white sand beaches, diverse marine life, and unique rock formations. This popular tourist spot's name came from the local tales that bones of giant humans were found in one of the caves here. The island chain consists of Gigantes Sur and Gigantes Norte, along with several smaller islets.
Each island in Islas de Gigantes has its own natural wonders. Kabugao Gamay is particularly famous for its picturesque rock formation, while Bantigue Island features a sandbar that emerges during low tide. The Tangke Saltwater Lagoon in Gigantes Sur is surrounded by towering cliffs and is made up of crystal-clear saltwater.
Visitors to Islas de Gigantes can enjoy various activities, such as island hopping, swimming at Tinagong Dagat (known as the mini-Boracay of Iloilo), camping on Bantigue Island, snorkeling, jet skiing, and banana boat rides at Antonia Beach. Other highlights include visiting the North Gigantes Island Lighthouse for panoramic views and exploring caves like Bakwitan Cave and Pawikan Cave, with their captivating rock formations.
