The reason I even considered watch THE WHOLE video was only for Victoria😆😮‍💨

I think this video and song goes deeper than most people realize. She's looking back at simple and carefree times as a teen hanging out at a mall. The awkward girl is someone who tries too hard to be a friend but is rejected. The bridal shop scene is her attacking adulthood, the role of women, and traditional marriage.

A role where Victoria Pedretti doesn’t end up dead finally

Every time I watch this I couldn't stop staring at Victoria's waist when they're walking together!

This is a commentary video on how the “simple” times were really not simple, we were just too young to care or realize. From the fact that people were so fatphobic, to how people were much more outwardly prejudiced. Even that tidbit with the Asian employee in the bridal shop, how the older woman just pushed the drink on her and didn’t care. I hope people realize it was all done on purpose and don’t bash on Kacey.

It seems to me like the whole video is a representation of what we see as the “simple” times…but like most memories we gloss over what is really behind those times. We remember the fun of it all, but in reality we were mean girls at some point, loved Victoria’s Secret at some point, and thought mall culture was cool. When in reality, we hurt people’s feelings, supported businesses who made us hate our bodies, and killed small businesses. Our ‘simple times’ were terrible times for others. And in the bridal salon, the girls represent reality; the dress and the “shopping experience” doesn’t signify a good marriage. It’s just another way capitalism and social constructs weave their way into our lives under the guise of making us ‘happier’.

The mall in the 90’s/2000’s was something special. I’ll miss it

I love how the reference is 90's and early 2000's comedy teen flicks. Also the juxtaposition in the lyrics and music video is cool too. It's like wanting to go back to when things werent as complicated as adulthood, but knowing everything is still going to lead you to an inevitable present.

This whole album…..wow….seriously…I’ve had it on repeat all morning. I went through a divorce and listening to star crossed, every song spoke to me about my own experience. This is the definition of turning your pain into art that everyone can admire ✨

The interpretation can be seen differently for everyone depending what role you were in the 90's-2000s. If you attended after that decade things started to change for you. I was in middle school about mids 2000s. I was the girl who was "overweight" just because I didn't have that 90s super skinny body. So therefore I wasn't allowed yes, allowed to hangout near the popular kids. I was used by the mean girls too, I would do their hw and other stuff to get them to like me. I never went to school dances or participate in any clubs bcs it was like exclusive. If you weren't the mean girls and boys you didn't go bcs you'd feel ashamed. So yes. Sometimes I even glamorize and miss the good times I had with the few friends I did have. But in reality. It was like this. You had to have a certain look. No one would protect you. If you got a popular group mad they would wait outside to all jump you. It wasn't pretty. Gay people were seemed as weird and if you linked with them you were a weirdo too. So no one would come out.. Bullying wasn't just words it was physical abused without the protection of school, parents or public. No one saw anything wrong. Schools now have more knowledge of these issues, with gay rights and programs against bullying it's change. It wasn't really simple times. We just choose to forget that we were. Either the outcast," fat & funny " Or I'm sure a lot were mean and didn't even realize it bcs it was normal.

But it opened up my eyes to her talent as an artist! You could here the experience that she has in “simple times” as a singer-songwriter! SHOCKED I’m just hearing of her! Love her voice as well! Had no idea she was a country artist! The way her voice has this nuance of pop with a country undertone is astounding! Haven’t heard a country artist in a LONG TIME with that PURE OVERALL GIFT! And for her to have SO MANY ACCOLADES and be so unknown is disheartening! She’s made a fan out of me for sure!

I love the song and music video independently, but I don't understand what the relationship between this music video and the song are meant to have. The song is sentimental and reminiscent of simpler times with friends, but the music video has the friends acting like judgmental, mean girls who take advantage of the big girl wanting to fit in, and then they rob the wedding dress store and literally rob the bride of a happy defining moment in her life. I don't get it.
