Ron Minervino, I am kind of interested in this design. I was wondering how you feel about it in general now that you have had it for a couple years. Size wise, handling, dealing with choppy water, building ease... Etc.
Easy ToBuildBoats Hi Jeff, I really like the lines of the Hatteras. Offshore brackets seem to be showing up more and more and I am wondering if you have considered adding an offshore bracket to the design and how difficult it would be to incorporate this into the existing design. I have seen aftermarket, "bolt-on kits" but I am reading more and more about how the hull needs to be extended under the bracket to improve water flow to the propeller. I am also wondering about how strong the mounting would be verses building it into the boat from the start. What are your thoughts on this trend in boat design ? Thanks Mark
@@BooleanOperator No, I haven't thought about it. If you're a manufacturer, you change your tooling regularly to offer something exciting and new, just like the automobile manufacturing companies. If you're a stock plan supplier, you don't have that option to keep modifying your designs all of the time. There are new designs to get to and get out.
It all depends on where you live. If US or Canada the state/province you live in has a method, different in each state pr province. That's where you start. I don't know about elsewhere.
All in with the motor and trailer was $6700 So minus 1700 for the motor and trailer and bimini top and anchor and life jackets and cooler I would say about $4000 The most expensive materials were the epoxy and fiberglass cloth
Go to the web page in the link and download the free study prints. It will give you all sorts of information including a materials list, construction methods and so on.
There are several factors in doing a pro job. One plan I found which successfully combines these is the Denelle boat builder (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the best info that I've seen. look at this unbelievable resource.
