It is believed that St.Thomas one of the deciples of Jesus came to India in AD 52. At that time there was no Christianity here. No Christian priests, Bishops etc., Even St.Thomas was not a priest only a preacher. So there was no Christian customs.

@@rkchannel1433 There were many syriac orthodox churches like this one which were family churches which were given away to the mother church. A typical example is the St. Mary's Orthodox church at West Kallada which is also a pilgrim church because Valliappoppan ( Anthrayos bava who is a nestorian monk or Ramban and not a bishop ) is buried there ! I also doubt the family history being promoted here. These families may be the descendants of the 9th century migrants from West Asia to Kollam. Later on some of these community members migrated to other parts of Kerala up to Kunnamkulam and settled there. During the padayottam of Tippu Sultan most of these families migrated to Kuravilangad and other places South etc. There were no brahmins in Kerala in the first century. So this story of St. Thomas converting brahmins in 1st century AD is a myth ! This Pakalomattom story etc is a old grandma story only to give legitimacy to the myth !
