A question among Kaiju No 8 fans is why Kafka was chosen to become a Kaiju. Well, what if he was one the entire time? In today's video we'll explore this crazy anime theory that might just be true.
Bro the manga has been growing a fan base for years. It is only getting hype now that it is getting an adaptation, which is well deserved. man i love kaiju no. 8. I can't wait to see a kaiju battle
Yo bro even I noticed these details too when I 1st watched the anime and was confused that the fly said found him now your theory cleared my doubt@@yaseenthatguy
I like that! It’s also similar to dragonball and if you’re familiar with S-cells. Half blood saiyans have more potential that full blood saiyans so it’s been done before
Exactly! If he's not entirely human, they wouldn't register him as one. The suit would glitch because it cannot properly evaluate his strength because of this and you could argue that the glitch has to do with the fact that they explicitly tell us the suits are made from kaijus! His strength was zero because it was already maxed out, in other words there was nothing to adapt or strengthen to begin with!
As a manga reader … I’m still waiting on an answer to what the dragonfly actually was. I can’t even begin to imagine how long it’ll take for the anime to reach that point.
been wondering about that too since the begining 😅 and the tought of why it was looking for Kafka, why Kafka heard its telephatic voice, and why it made Kafka transform but retain his humanity, a lot of questions regarding the fact it goes to Kafka 😅
Honestly I asume that it's something like Kaiju's are just thouse dragonflies and they just infect normal creatures and or plants (almost every Kaiju looks like an animal).
Kaiju no. 9 is an extremely unique Kaiju. While we don’t know its origins, it’s fairly clear that it follows the same principle of other numbered Kaiju being serious standouts compared to their non-numbered lessers with it having a unique set of abilities that allow it to disguise itself among other things.
Still could be a thing even with that explanation. I mean that's like saying Neil Armstrong is the only one that could walk on the moon. It's difficult yeah but there were like 4-5 others that have done it. I mean no 9. Isn't the only one that can shape shift obviously cause Kafka can as well. So it's not THAT unique.
stop talking nonsense haha it was literally shown that MORE KAIJUS CAN CHANGE INTO HUMAN FORM. The number 9 is not unique LITERALLY IN more than 1000 years I am sure that some have tried to pass as humans...
The dragonfly specifically said finally i found you meaning that dragonfly was searching for Kafka for something really major which would also explain how he first transformed into a kaiju human hybrid in the hospital bed. He's also exceptionally stronger then most if not all pure kaiju
Well to be honest his first encounter with a honju he literally sensed and had knowledge about how the honju attacked and where it attacked. Also in the flashback it was shown that kafka and mina were the only ones who survived the eradication of their city by some kaiju. The dragonfly might've just thought kafka was a good host as he was filled with dreams and also emotions that could possibly make a kaiju stronger (vice captain hoshino said that the humanoid kaiju has emotions and is enjoying the fight). Kafka being one of the survivors and is the only one who can't protect himself at that time (because mina can literally use 96% of the suit). He was the perfect host for the daikaiju, but thats just a theory though
@@eulyplayz5919 I also thought that because it shows up only after he decides he will become strong and kill kaiju no matter what, that would have sealed the deal after seeing him stand against that one kaiju.
It’s because the dragonfly is old asf. Without spoiling the manga too much it’s shown that the dragonfly Kaiju has merged with a human before and has been fighting Kaiju for thousands of years. Probably the oldest living Kaiju next to no 9 who is a culmination of thousands of devoured Kaiju Now Kafka is probably a descendant of the previous host for the dragonfly Kaiju which is why it was “searching” for Kafka.
It possibly that the Dragon Fly looks someone that aren't compatible with Kaiju suit that definitely flown by Anti Kaiju Energy as the same suit filling the weapon power to specifically harm Kaiju The person that aren't most compatible means with Anti Kaiju energy they likely the most compatible to become Kaiju
Probably Since Kafka had 0% unleashed combat power from the kaiju suits, being selected to become kaiju no. 8 by the small yoju dragonfly could mean transforming into a kaiju, the 0% combat power kafka has is replaced with the power from the smaller kaiju in his kaiju form.
@@green8017 No. He always have 0% aptitude in the previous test before becoming Kaiju. In the writing test, Kafka are one of the best but in physical exam he barely able to keep up and straight up failure in Aptitude test because Vice Captain said that those who didn't have aptitude will be disqualified What else make Kafka fail again and again in the previous test?
May be that's why he doesn't properly synchronize with the suit Even the vice captian said that no one show 0% but kafka was at 0% when he put the suit Damn that's a good theory
The reason the suit doesn’t work well with him is because he’s already a kaiju. The suits are made from kaiju, so they’re conflicting. That’s at least the simplest way I can understand it
Not only that spoilers ,recently I saw that Kaiju number 9 is like kenjaku,he’s actually very old and has merged with other warriors before from different eras ,not only that in one panel after Kafka was leaving a temple he saw someone in samurai armor and had the same eyes as kaiju number 8
Facts, the author of the video probably haven’t read the manga. The no. 9 is just a skinwalker kaiju and no. 8 is like eren inheriting the attack titan. Still a theory tho, and we still dont know why the kaiju chose kafka.
@@sharkjebaited1339 in my perspective I would like it to be that’s it’s his bloodline and they may explore the depth of how complex the Kaijus really are
hoshino before getting his recent unique armor when it was previously kaiju was talking to him telepathically so by this logic hoshino is also a hybrid. so i think it's not that kafka is a hybrid, but more of like someone who has the dna same as the previous user of kaiju 8 or biologically close or similar to kafka that made him compatible to kaiju 8
I think they just wanted a host that had enough willingness to kill kaiju to match with kaiju 8's thoughts. Kaiju 8 wants to take over the host completely and turn them into a murder machine but to do that it has to find a human with the desire to kill kaiju as well. Kafka is strong willed though so he didn't get taken over, but it did almost happen.
If kafka was a hybrid/half kaiju, so the dragonfly was only half of a kaiju he combined himself with kafka to make him a fully kaiju that can become a human
Even as a manga reader we havent got anything about the dragonfly and anything about kaiju origin and the reason and you just boosted up my hype for this topic even more with this theory
Sorry. Humans aren't turning into Kaiju. Kaiju 9, for instance, was never a human nor a hybrid. It kills, absorbs, and takes on the forms of human victims.
But it can still go by the same principles can it not? It kills and absorbs and takes a human form, It doesn't have to be human it just needs a functioning human body Form with functioning human organs.
But there are different types of kaiju’s so we cant be sure cause so far we seen kaiju 9 take over the leader’s body but theirs no saying that they can’t transform into a human we juat haven’t seen it
Since one of the inspirations for this manga is godzilla, shin godzilla tried to have a humanoid form, I can see kafka being a kaiju already totally possible.
There is a possibility tho, since some Kaiju did have a human appearance, just like that spider from the beginning. And if you know how experimentations works, this can be found at the intro about a formula that can ironically turn someone into a Kaiju, but some are too lethal to do so. I kinda like this theory quite a lot, because at the first episode, I personally see through this... I mean, it is brimming with many questions, but the certain question is usually asked.... Why HIM? Why the Dragonfly Kaiju choses Kafka out of all people in there?
@RTONL not only that but the dragonfly says I found you so Kafka was being looked for by either that dragonfly in particular or something sent it to find him and turn him into one
You don't even need to read the manga to know this theory isn't good. The Kaiju that transformed into a human asked if human skin heals itself since Kikorus wounds closed because of the kaiju suit. It literally didn't know that she was wearing a kaiju suit and questioned whether humans could heal so unnaturally and if our skin is that durable. It wasn't used to a phone either and questioned aloud how to respond to a call. If you just pay attention to the story, you'd know this Kaiju clearly wasn't a human before as it thought humans had regenerative powers, supernaturally durable skin and struggled to respond to a phone call. As for Kafka, *IF* he was half kaiju, which enabled him to sense other kaiju, he would have sensed the yoju before he was infected by the parasite. But he didn't and almost died as a result. So no, he is not half Kaiju. It came with his transformation.
@@erikhauganyou realize that the air bullet kaiju wasn’t the first kaiju right? The guy in the short is talking about a kaiju mating with a human 33 years ago, before Kafka was born. And story wise kaiju have been around longer than Kafka was alive as the defense force was already established during his childhood scenes. It’s very likely that the air bullet kaiju wasn’t the first intelligent kaiju to hide as a human
@@Wayback321 what gave it away captain obvious? I've read the manga. I know that this theory falls flat. Don't lecture me with stuff I already know is or isn't canon.
I think it's to the Other Extreme a exception like Asta or Deku his compatibility with the Kaiju is zero in his suit I think that's what allows him to not get fully eaten by the Kaiju and keep his mind
Makes sense, because why didn’t Reno hear the Kaiju speak? It’s not like they were in a completely separate room? And if I remember correctly it’s even animated in a way that hints that the Kaiju didn’t actually speak out loud.
@@Jay_BeWilld That's why I said "Let me guess number 9 is his dad" which would him being the kaiju part and explaining why he's so powerful but it's just a theory and stop complaining
@@spooderman26 how am I complaining, i tell you the true, Kafka isn’t part kaiju, if he was they would have killed him before and sense the kaiju energy
Also if you notice in the very beginning when Kafka transformed, his monster powers where going berserk. He was actually transforming into a bunch of different things and until he got it under control. I 100% bet that Kafka has a whole arsenal of powers he doesn’t know about yet.
It’s probably short or ranged telepathy. All the other kaiju were close and the one that he was talking to was most likely father away, thus out of range to communicate. Plus he was talking to a person and not a kaiju.
Not really. He wasn’t necessarily in telepathic contact with the other kaiju throughout the fight. He could have been distracted doing something else, moved out of range of the telepathy, or have been unable to communicate with all of them at once. Any of those possibilities would mean he’d have a reason to use the phone to check in on the fights aftermath.
That's an excellent theory. That "I've found you" also made me think that Kafka was targeted for some reason. His life was uneventful until he "fought" the Yoju, so my first thoughts were either he was selected because of how he acted, or someone sent it to Kafka. For that someone I've thought maybe Mina, since she already has a super-tiger (I'm anime only, so I don't know whether the tiger is explained already or not), but after Ep 10, it doesn't seem likely anymore. Some people in the comments are theorizing that Kafka was chosen because he had 0 aptitude to the battle suit, which apparently means he has no negative kaiju energy, whatever it means, but I hope that's not true, since after EP11, I keep fantasizing about Kafka stealing or absorbing the 002 kaiju gloves.
SPOILERS If you read the manga, then the Kaiju who turned into a human (Kaiju no 9) is not the main body of him, but a clone Edit: plus, number 9’s clone said: does human skin heal that quick? when he hurt kikoru during the exam. And no 9 basically kills people, absorbs them, and turn into that person
I read somewhere in manganelo, theres a theory that kafka is from a line of human that can obtain kaiju abilities all the way from edo era, maybe a kaiju made a contract with humans or something
I think that the Kaiju fly has existed for a long time and has been fighting against other Kaijus for a long time. In a chapter that deals with the topic of Kaijus, it is said that there were already some who fought against them. You briefly see a mysterious humanoid figure ,in a samurai-like armor. I think that was a hint that the Kaiju in Kafka could be the same as back then and Kafka is someone who is compatible after a long time
This is actually a very, very good theory. Heres why, think of Kafka where the special Kaiju suit, was whwre he failed. Its a great theory because what if his body (Im manga far ahead so I can back this up) could not gel with it because his power would not allow him too
Theres apparently a still untranslated Light Novel where theres multiple kaiju races/subspieces and the dragonfly is made to find a host and combat the rest of the kaiju...apparently??? It explains how numbered weapons also have altitude for slecific hosts i guess
It could also be of compatibility. In the manga, its shown that numbered kaiju can’t be worn by anyone, they have to be compatible with the kaiju. #9 also need to assimilate the high commander in order to use #2’s power since the commander is compatible with it. Maybe the dragonfly kaiju needed a compatible human in order to unlock its full potential.
I think the most plausible theory based on what we saw in the manga Kafka saw a ghost of the past user of the kaiju no. 8 on the shrine in chapter 66 Kaiju no. 8 exist in the past too as a samurai or something and that bug kaiju is a inherited power Once the host dies it finds someone compatible as a new host and its main goal is to kill all kaiju
The Man just started speaking in tongues. Then I started watching the series. Now my mind is blown. it all makes sense and even seems obvious, not just plausible. Well done.
Well damnnit that all fits. I was wondering about the "Found you." From the first episode as well. And that would make sense why Kafka sucks as a human and couldn't pass the physical exam ever. He was nerfed and his human form was extremely limited in it capacity. Thats also why the super suit doesnt register Kafka and provide any combat output. Its only registering his very limited human side. And the dragonfly tried taking over Kafka but the human will kept him from being absorbed by the Kaiju side.
1. Kaijus can communicate with humans through telepathy or just opening there mouths because they have been studying/ absorbing humans, 2. If Kafka was even part Kaiju, his abnormality could have been detected, even though it dosen't show from the outside 3. They could possibly be a Kaiju Hive mind somewhere underground in the world and they for some reason picked Kafka as a host (and maybe others like him) to perfect the ultimate Kaiju form. 4. It's also possible for a Kaiju to take over a specific host to gain a perfect form in resemblance to humans as that human they want to host got qualities they lack and would use to be powerful
I mean it's an interesting theory at least. The dragonfly could have said that to him because it was sorta against the kaiju but needed a host who would defeat kaiju and defend people at any costs. It could have been observing him for a long time and just decided now was the perfect time to enact its plan
If that’s true then he’s a third hybrid in a different universe because I think of Firebreather Duncan: Human Kaiju Hybrid, and Pacific Rim: The Black Boy: Human Kaiju Hybrid
