Sub Narrator: Dead calmness and dry tone help contrast with the absurd bullshit happening on screen Dub Narrator: Balls to the walls enthusiasm and general batshit insanity help emphasise the absurd bullshit happening on screen Both are on opposite ends of the spectrum, and both are equally fucking hilarious
Sub narrator feels like a golf commentator watching the two. Dub narrator feels like your sitting down next to one of your best buds who’s had one too many to drink.
Reminds me of the silliness Ian Sinclair has as the narrator of “How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?”, and you can feel he did a great job here in addition to having a lot of fun
@Shinobu I watched dubs in a few anime, you can't just straight up tell people "OH you watch dubs just because you don't watch subs". Some people have preferences y'know. I liked watching One Piece, Fullmetal, MHA in dub. And what's wrong with dubs anyways? It's literally just the same show with translations and english. And don't give me the bullshit "Oh they don't follow the sub", use your brain dingus how would they reach the mouth flaps of the script? And i can say some dubs are shit, for changing the script. But still, if people prefer to watch dub let them have their fun you can't decide what they like or what they should do, you ain't god. If you liked something and someone told you "You ain't a fan of [blank] because [bullshit reason]" you think you'd be happy? Don't make me laugh you would probably start getting mad and spamming words of anger. Some dubs may be bad, but that doesn't mean you can tell people "You aren't a fan", dubs are specifically made for people who prefer to watch it without always looking at the subs to look at the big picture. Anyways imma head out seeya loser.
I see Beerus was always sleeping, whis got bored, so he started stalking some high school kids, and started narrating their entire high school lives. I can totally see, Whis doing that.
My theory is that they were originally going to do the narrator the same way as in the sub, but Ian showed up to work that day having done several lines of cocaine and did the entire season in one take. The rest is history!
In the Japanese narration they follow the script from the manga. With the English narration, the narrator Ian Sinclair just looks at the script and just says fuck it and ad libs most of the lines.
I feel like the narrator is better sometimes in dubbed, but I’d be more welcoming to him if English was an option in season 1. I’m not complaining though
