Produced in 1977 by the Protect Kaho'olawe 'Ohana, this program features scenes from the last years of the life of George Jarrett Helm, Jr. as he worked tirelessly to stop the bombing of Kaho'olawe and inspire others to take up the cause of Aloha 'Āina (love and protection of the land). Video of his classroom presentations, musical performances, speeches and interactions with government are supplemented with news stories and location shots of early occupations of Kaho'olawe.

People forget that George Helm was our Hawaiian folk Hero! He was so talented and had such a love for the Kanaka Maoli, Kingdom of Hawaii, and the Aina. Mahalo for sharing this.

I remember this as if it were yesterday. Going to all the fundraisers with my kids and I remember when he disappeared while going to Kaho'olawe. George Helm has been and remains my favorite Hawaiian artist til today. His legacy lives on.

I was George's roommate for the last couple of years before he disappeared. He was passionate about not only Kaho'olawe, but his family and friends as well. He was a real and true friend who never forgot his friends and truly lived the aloha spirit. To me he embodied all that being Hawaiian stood for.

Thanks for this archival footage, at this time the 1978 con con was a year away. We came, we tried and we didn't accomplish yet what we started, however, we know that our na keiki going do what we set out to do. Excuse my inclusion of myself, on the steps of what PKO did and that was to start our thinking in the right direction. Those of us was the second wave need to be happy that the third and so forth will come forward until the end of time. So, that is us and we know where we are going.

Yes, his name will go down in history. When we get our Kingdom of Hawaii back and fully restored, his name will go down in history and will never be forgotten, Aloha oe Uncle George Helm...........
