If you are going to watch this, I've only but one suggestion for you. Don't let the childish look of this show deceive you. Kaiba did and will touch on many mature aspect and the whole series will probably put you into new way of thinking.
I agree. Don't let line art, vibrant colors and a cutsie style be the basis of what and what you shouldn't watch. It's the story that counts and how it's told. I got that from watching grave of the fireflies and aggretsuko.
Man. The trailer really doesn't do the show enough justice. I'm almost tempted to watch the show again and make another trailer myself with clips from it.
As someone who has never seen this, I would argue the trailer was successful because I'm intrigued by the gorgeous art style and the mysterious nature of what I saw. It looks cute but there's something unsettling about the ending of the trailer.
@@MicahBuzanANIMATION i've seen the entire show. And yeah, the trailer seems interesting, but the show has so many good moments that could've fit in the place of these clips. Not that I'm saying it's bad, it just doesn't do the show enough justice for what it is.
I found this about 3 weeks ago, it teased my curiosity and i finally started watching more than just episode 1. I'm at chapter 8, this show is amazing. My fav Chapter is the 3rd.... RIP Chronico.
It's been ten years since I first watched Kaiba. I have watched it countless times and still notice things I didn't before. In a sense I'm a little upset because it ruined every other animated thing in the sense I'll never witness something as amazing as this again. I'll never watch Kaiba for the first time again
The algorithm made me watch this show as well, but if only the algorithm could understand this is not a kid's show... Unless you want to explain weird space kinks to children that is. *coughEpisode2cough*
I bingewatched this series yesterday after finding a clip of Kaiba in Chroniko's body helping a girl in a guy's body go to the bathroom. I thought it was a bit funny and the art and animation style really reminded me of Osamu Tezuka's art style (where the characters look like they could be plastic inflatable people but not really?) mixed with something like some of those early 80s animes or something. I may not have understood the full story and sometimes the consistency of the art quality looked a bit off but I still enjoyed it. Story wise it reminded me of a movie called the Congress where an actress goes into an animated world searching for something that's missing from her life. IDK why the setting of Kaiba reminded me of the animated portion of The Congress where are able to change their cartoony avatars but they're still able to die or something. While the main female lead is mostly trying to find her son, Kaiba is trying to find a girl who seems to be the key to helping him remember who he is. Sorry, I rambled on too much.
To me was the sex scene... Oh boy, the clip started pretty inocent, but with this part Iknew this anime had something more, so I watched it all in one night! No regrets.
How did one video recommended to me showing one of the scenes from one episode of this anime, got so curious, watched it, cried over it, loved it, and would recommend watching back at it again in a few years. Thanks algorithm for giving me such a wonderful anime :3
Just watched this the other day with my girlfriend. It was quite the ride, but for all the lore about upper and lower classes, that really doesn't show much at all, aside from glimpses. That said, it was hard to put down, because you kept wondering what would happen next, which is absolutely a powerful selling point of the series. That said, half the runtime is spent on a side plot with an morally bankrupt ugly bastard who's obsessively trying to score with a dubiously legal girl who's clearly not into him. Then he pulls a last minute "I've actually got noble motives" right out of his pocket, literally, moments before biting the bullet. After which the side plot abruptly ends, and prooves to have had pretty much zero impact or relevance to the main plot whatsoever. Poor Chroniko. You deserved so much better! Then we go back to the original plot, and the show is absolutely amazing. Probably one of the best animes I've seen in recent times. In some ways it feels a bit rushed, and would have been better if all the episodes focused on it. I very much still recommend giving it a watch.
Kaiba was the last “great” anime series ever hosted on a tv screen. 14 years have gone by since its release and the void it left is impossible to fill in.
Its a great anime. WARNING! RU-vid PUT THIS AS A INNOCENT KIDS CARTOON IN RU-vid KIDS SO BE CAREFUL AND DONT LET KIDS WATCH THIS AS IT CONTAINS MATURE CONTENT LIKE SEX, DEEP ADULT STUFF, AND BLOOD. KEEP WATCH OF YOUR KIDS BEING ON RU-vid OR JUST STRAIGHT UP DONT LET THEM USE RU-vid AT ALL.
i wish there coulf have been some OVA where Chroniko memoried get sent back into a new body and Vanillas memories are brought back by Warp in a new body and then Chroniko and Vanilla meet
@@bleachedcarradio ... Yet the early episodes marked as kids shows... You know, episodes packed with abuse, multiple deaths, elicit substance using, body trafficking and weird kinks... All available on YT Kids!
@@missquark_ I KNOW! LIKE WHAT WAS WITH THAT!!?? i was wondering why i couldnt save the episodes then i realized google had marled it for kids. they probably thought this because of the art style (don't let the cartoony style deceive you!) there are multiple things in there that arent really for kids.....
the art in this is looks like it could be considered amaturish, the way it kind of just bloats proportions like chubby fingers and sort of just thows shapes on to the screen and says this is a this and that is a that. story feels like is drawn like a runnerway speedster with the breaks clipped. its an alice in wonder land- vision of hell/purgatory cutioned with dreamy visuals where life is desposed of like garbage and swept away. a beautifull nightmare. also reminds me of yoshi's island.
@@mrpumperknuckles1631 all of those is "alright" (in the sense that animes which contain those themes would probably be distributed to US) ,but maybe the US distributors doesn't have enough balls to distribute this because of the art style, which could lead to little kids watching and their parents threatening a lawsuit against the distributors after the parents realized the actual context for the anime (but this is just a hypothesis, maybe it could be simply attributed to the fact that the anime isn't popular during it's release)
[SPOILER ALERT] Honestly, after seeing the series, I though they would do a little bit more justice to Chroniko, where kaiba would posses her body and return to Chroniko's house just so her aunt could see her one last time... And also, why couldn't the doctor store Chroniko's memories?
@@drakoronus Chroniko did, for some reason So I'm guessing the doctor could have stored her memories and get payed when she had another money to interact with the doctor Honestly, that was just a dick move
@@catthatlooksatyoufunny7377 Not to mention he actually told her she was a goner as she was drifting away. That's a major a-hole move to torture such a kind girl for no reason.
@@missquark_ That scene confuses the hell out of me, it's so dumb and so frustrating to watch because of how unfair it is And a freaking rollercoaster of emotions too
LMAO Except for the fact that the series has so many layers, starting with the cartoon look for an easy first view, and each subsequent viewing hits you on a different, deeper level. This series so densely packed with subtlety and nuance that even the first two complete views don't spoil the third watching.
well, it's kinda difficult to explain but in a dystopic world, memories can be stored outside the body as data. the digitization of mental information allows the transfer of one's mind to someone else's body. the theft and manipulation of other people's memories is also a harsh reality of this world. there's also a class conflict because this technology is mostly acessible to the rich and they use to take advantage of the poor. also a lot of psychological conflict and great character building since the main character needs to find his memories and identity. in conclusion, it's a great series with some existential and social questioning and a large amount of sadness.
I'm here thanks to a comment in a Made in Abyss OST video, he said that its music made he remember of Kaiba's soundtracks, then, me, looking for something similar to Made in Abyss ended up here thinking about if I should watch this series, reading comments I found you, what made me question if that anime got a shitty fanbase who hates on everything else, luckily I don't think it's the case, and I'm going to watch it anyways because it looks really interesting. But please, understand that the way you “show your love to your favorite thing” says a lot about that think, if you really like it, don't make whoever created it ashamed of his own fans.
