It really did. It's like everyone involved in production were trying to say "thank you" to all of the fans who have stuck with the show from episode one. The animation was a meme killer for anyone who still thinks One Piece looks like it did in the 90s. For a show that has been on air almost as long as I've been alive, I've grown along side it. Idk. It was just awesome.

What I love about that fight is kaidos facial expressions. You can really see his emotions through the whole fight. It started from him beeing annoyed and or pissed of to beeing happy that he finally found someone to go all out with. Like his dream coming true in him dying in battle to a worthy foe
