This guy is a musical GIANT. Unfortunately most of the world ain't even heard of Kaizers Orchestra. Do yourselves a favour people. Get into them today, you're not going to regret it xxxx KO
+Kelsey R Cool. If you're like me you won't regret starting Norwegian either. But be patient with those dialects. Learn Oslo/Eastern and the rest will fall in place in time with plenty of listening. Lykke til!
+Kelsey R Hey, keep in touch anyway, would love to know how you are getting on. I started Norwegian in 2007 and even though I understand most of the spoken I still feel I am learning and am still happy to learn. For me Kaizers happened the other way around. I was learning Norwegian, I love music so I looked for bands. Unfortunately there aren't many I was interested in , but I knew there was something special about this lot the first time I heard them.
+Kelsey R I downloaded those early recordings you mention above. They're pretty good, especially Gnom. Skambankt I know little about and Selgmenn I've never even heard of. I'm not from continental Europe, I'm from the UK and I learnt using Teach Yourself Norwegian and Colloquial Norwegian. Both excellent. But I mainly learnt by listening over and over and over again, daily to podcasts. Klar Tale is amazing for the new beginner and I am very, very fond of Radioresepsjonen and Misjonen radio shows and they help a real lot.
+Kelsey R Atle Antonsen, yeah I've heard a lot about Dag and seen some of it on RU-vid. Ok here's one back for you.. Kråkesølv. Nordlendinger og helt umulig å forstå , men bra
the funny thing is that most norwegians has difficulties understanding what he is singing in most of the kaizer songs, without reading the lyrics. He is from a part of Norway that has a very special dialect/accent and he is using it for all it is worth in the songs they make. It wouldn't be the same without that special tone and accent. This song is one of the exceptions though (not just in this video), since it is much calmer and the instruments are not overwhelming his voice and the words.
@@helena_5456 I have some trouble understanding the dialect at the first listen, but if I read the lyrics some of the words I couldnt make out appear so obvious. Dekk bord is a good example of this, couldnt understand most of that song until I checked the lyrics.
Great song, also can't understand language but can appreciate some of those bars on the piano. maybe cardinals sessions can transcribe there international songs for lyrics ?
well that is not very true in regards to norwegians speaking and understanding english. I find most norwegians to be quite able to both speak and understand english. In fact english is mandatory as second language @ school from age 6-16, after that one may choose to continue or not. Nevertheless norwegians are exposed to the language everyday through music, television and internet. I for one have never met any norwegian that doesn't understand or speak english.
it's cold.. trust me.. and most people dont speak very good english. except in Bergen (Y) but anyways bottom line is that its very cold. therefore its awesome and annoying at the same time
