The volume in the beginning of this video is very low with background noise while Tony Best is introducing the band. Once Kalibre starts playing it is OK.
Kalibre is the last of four acts to appear at the the Queens Theatre on 11th February 1996. The is one of a number of concerts arranged by Jan Brant for the Queens Theatre. The other acts on this night were Bob McKinlay Band, Tony Best and Texas Gun. Tony Best was also the compère. The other acts will be uploaded to RU-vid in due course. Bob McKinlay and Texas Gun join Kalibre on stage at the end of the evening,
Bobby Reed first played Country in 1983 in Country Friends duo; teaming up with steelie Bob Dixon in 1989 when he formed Kalibre. They were initially a 4 and occasionally 5-piece band but when I first saw them in 1991 they were a trio with Dale James on bass and they quickly established themselves as firm favourites on the club circuit. Bob Dixon is undoubtedly one of the UK's best steelies. After the departure of Dale James in April 2008 Kalibre carried on as a duo but just as popular as ever winning the BCMA duo of the year award in 2011. Bob Dixon announced on 29 June 2020 that he has now retired from country music as late nights and long drives are affecting his health. Bobby Reed will continue solo.
Occasionally Kalibre would upgrade from a trio to a quartet and from a duo to a trio with the addition of Sara Curran on keyboard. This generally happened at concerts venues rather than dance venues. The addition of keys gave Kalibre a very different and unique sound and after watching this video I am sure you will agree that Kalibre were one of the best country bands on the scene at that time.
