This Pan-India Film from Telugu makes India Proud
Kalki 2898 AD (pronounced [kə.l.kɪ]) is a 2024 Indian Telugu-language epic science fiction film directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Aswani Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies. It was shot primarily in Telugu with some scenes re-shot in Hindi. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas in dual roles, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. It is the first instalment in the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe and inspired by Hindu mythology. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD, the film follows the few selected who are on a mission to save the unborn child, Kalki, of SUM-80, a lab subject.

@@VARMOT123 I have seen it a few years back! It definitely helped me understand a few things Karna, Arjuna the Pandavas and Kaurunas were already familiar. I definitely want to read the Mahabharata now. Not sure if the Puranas ar accessible in English. I love epic stories!

I've recently discovered the joy of Bollywood and Indian cinema. This was my first film in theatres and it did not disappoint. I agree with the mentioned shortcomings but ultimately loved it. This is the film Rebel Moon wishes it was. One of the best films this year.

Will be Best year for Telugu cinema after 2018,2019 interms of no of good movies . We already had Double Engine ( fun indie) , Aarambham , Music shop Murthy and now Kalki & an appreciable attempt " Gaami" . Have some promising small and Medium size films in lineup for 2024 namely Saripodha Sanivaaram , Lucky Baskhar , Magic , Swag , Ma Nanna Super Hero , Committee Kurrollu , 35 , Paradha , 8 Vasanthalu , Brahmanandham , Life stories , Mouna Tharangam , Muthayya , The Girl friend , Matka , Narudi bathuku Natana etc . Good days ahead . I just hope u watch small films from Telugu industry

Just finished watching KALKI here in Sydney, Australia….its India’s answer to the west…we too can make a KALKI UNIVERSE ..surprise package is Big B’s “VFX” fights, Prabhas on another level, KAMAL HAASAN..total goosebumps..highly recommended, starts getting hot after the interval block

Perfect review! The attempt of a full blown sci-fi based on Indian history is just a dream come true for us!!! So many times watching marvel, Dunes, star wars films referencing greek mythology or other western cultures left me jealous! Cause there’s so much our History has but never gets acknowledged! But boy, did they do this here. Perfect blend of history, scifi and acting!! What to expect? Universe building. Performances. Climax. What not to expect? Bahubali, Marvel or any typical masala commercial. Keep an open mind! If you are a proud sanatani, must watch for you!

I am minimally familiar with the Mahabharata because I have seen Darna Veera Sura Karna and a few other Telugu Mythologicals, but I definetly want to read it now. Those Mahabharata segments were sooooo cool. I am non Desi and brought 3 non Desi friends and they all enjoyed it immensely even though they did not get the cameos and inside jokes. I am happy I was able to explain them!

My only criticism on this movie is the power balance, it's not consistent. Spoiler ahead... don't blame me after! sometimes Aswarthama can lift 10 men in full body Armor, can't lift Deepika, again can lift Deepika and prabas. Also he gets bogged down by those restraints, at first he can't free himself, but after prabas shines (what a fight and how Nag actually brought back Karna, i was expecting it's him but not sure because he is calling it a stick) Aswarthama frees himself from the same restraints that he was unable to before. So inconsistent.

It's not" atleast they tried thing sir".... It's they did it. The deffects are far more less than what the max level they reached in making the film When you say " atleast they did it. So we praise the try and avoid the defects" feels like praising a bad film but feels empathy and so yea u did it boy..!!!. This film is far more beyond what other Indian films are made on any realistic and futuristic exploration of an epic MAHABARATHA!!!❤

The point about inside jokes and all, its good of its done in a limit, you don't have to take away something like that to cater to international audience, because that's what makes it more interesting, imagine a Marvel movie without the inside jokes on American politics, it just feels superficial.
