The story is based on Ancient Indian(bharath) city called Kaasi/Benaras on the planet. River Ganges flows through this city from eons of time. The city has more than 10,000 years of history in Ancient Hindu texts. Indian Civilization is atleast 30,000 years. Ancient Indian discoveries are copied by west and taught differently. Based on predictions, Kalki is going to be the next avatar basically like Jesus at the end of this present day Yuga(Eon of time) called Kali Yuga. You would need to read about Mahabharata which happened 7500 years ago in India to learn the pretext or premise of the story when Lord Krishna was in flesh and blood and played a big part in establishing Dharma(social justice) in the world.
