Excellent! How I wish i can have fellowship with brothers and sisters who are Orthodox! St Gregory Palamas stike powerfully in my heart as a Catholic who is seeking deeper experience of God through Christian mysticism. Mere external sacramentalism without deep experience of God through silent prayer, only touches externally and superficially. God be forever be glorified! Thanks a lot, Bishop Kallistos!

Palamas was a heretic

@@T_dog1 Why?
@T_dog1
@T_dog1 Год назад
@@reycfd7753 He rejected the Filioque and taught that some "uncreated energies" can "begin to exist". He also taught that God is composite, and that God is composed of his "essence" and "energies".

@@reycfd7753 He's only considered a "saint" by some Eastern Catholics, and before Vatican 2, they were prohibited from venerating him.

Gregory Palamas (Γρηγόριος Παλαμάς) (1296-1359) was a monk of Mount Athos in Greece, and later the Archbishop of Thessaloniki, known as a preeminent theologian of Hesychasm. The teachings embodied in his writings defending Hesychasm against the attack of Barlaam are sometimes referred to as Palamism, his followers as Palamites. Palamas is venerated as a Saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church. Some Byzantine Catholic Churches, which are in communion with Rome, venerate him in the liturgy, and he has been called a saint and has been repeatedly cited as a great theological writer by Pope John Paul II. Some of his writings are collected in the Philokalia. The second Sunday of the Great Lent is called the Sunday of Gregory Palamas in those Churches that commemorate him according to the Byzantine Rite. He also has a feast day on November 14.

I heard him speak one time at the chapel on the campus of Princeton University which is an old style cathedral. It was like listening to a wizard speak.

St. Gregory’s teaching on the essence energy distinction has always been the Orthodox teaching. It was the agreed upon presupposition of both the Eastern and Western Church for roughly one thousand years. It was the foundational and bulwark of all seven Ecumenical councils. It is completely incompatible with the later Western Dogma of Absolute Divine Simplicity as presented by St. Augustine and Thomas Aquinas. Metropolitan Kalistos Ware did a masterful in this lecture!

The energy/essence distinction doesn't contradict the doctrine of divine simplicity. The energies are the eternal relevation of God in relation to the world, while his essence is his being in relation to himself.

How can he say God has no nature? Christ is the nature of God."I and my Father are one."(St. John 10:30). The word "one" is "hen" in Greek. It means nature and essence.

"Those who don't love trees don't love Christ?" Where is the evidence for the claim? Scripture nowhere teaches that. It's blasphemous to equate that statement with the Ten Commandments.

He should have explained how he was using the word "panentheism," because this philosophy is un-biblical and heretical. In some panentheist schools, God is expanding and growing. This is absolutely heretical, because it places God on the contingent level of the creature. In Christianity, God is pure actuality with no unrealized potentialities. He does not grow, develop or learn.

Soldier Of Truth exactly why he says as long as we do not take it in the sense of "process theology." In its litteral meaning of all things being "in God" it is simply what Paul says in Athens, "'In Him' we live and move and have our being." Or in Colosians 1 St. Paul says of Christ, "In Him all things hold together." And as is evident in one of his quotes of Gregory Palamas and his commentary thereon he is not denying the Divine immutability as such theories as you mention do.

Christian Videos As an Orthodox every time I saw a Christian who is shouting heresy heresy and who talked more about Masonry , Vatican , Templarism and Bishops who allegedly fallen away from God's Grace , it was a disturbed individual in question who had more paranoia and fear then actually God in himself. You know if other things don't help , sometimes taking a valium or a sleeping pill can do wonders !
