Production quality is significantly better, vocals are slightly different, this band has actually made improvements in a way. They sound tighter, with more teamwork than say "They Will Return" from 2002
Kalmah is one of the finest death metal bands on the planet. They're heavy. They're melodic. They don't overdo it with crazy fast drums or nutcase psychotic guitar playing. They dont use over the top tempos or time signatures. Their growls are modest and not absurd. Basic. Simple. But steadfast and strong. The thing they do the most are melodies. Lots of stellar melodies and chords befitting a power metal band. But they dont overdo that either. Their songs dont sound like operas or fantasy novels. (Not jabbing at bands that do. I love them too.) But they inject just enough of this power metal sound into an otherwise fairly generic death metal mix, that it makes for a formula that really stands out. Enough so that I've never really heard anywhere else in my near 20 years of metal exploring. Kalmah has the perfect blend of everything that makes a great metal band, without doing anything excessive or extreme. And I love them to death for it.

When Kalmah released their new single Evil Kin, many were very unimpressed - including me. But after listening the entire album I can't complain. It's an awesome album once again.
Bought it ~1 year ago. Instant evergreen status. Hearing it if I play a game, doing something at home, at work and if i go into the shower. I memorized every song. Well.... *press replay again* :D
I cannot even fathom how underrated Antti is. He's a brilliant guitarist and riff maker. And ofc Kalmah is absolutely great. How many melo death bands you hear and and recognize them just from their sound? Kalmah is one of them and that's very rare.
Kalmah is my favroite band, and it's too underrated and unappreaciated. Melo death(with in flames changing style) has died but the embers reside in kalmah.
Yup, absolutely. The album is definitely nothing new, but with first couple of notes it's totally and utterly * Kalmah *. Recognizable as ever. And very good I'd say.
Great riffs, awesome arrangements, killer solos, and nice unexpected breakdowns. Pure metal. This album is amazing from start to Finnish (lol). I bought the vinyl three weeks ago the moment I saw it and am playing it daily. I just came on here to say how great i think it is. Finland rules.
After 18 years of releasing albums, Kalmah returns with their strongest demonstration since 2003's Swampsong...I've been a fan since the very first album, 2000's Swamplord, but incredibly I've never seen Kalmah live on stage...until tonight's show in Vaasa WS arena!
I personally think this is a solid release. 12 gauge took a while to grow on me, but it is so damn good. I love all of Kalmah's albums, but For The Revolution, while good, is probably their weakest recording to date. That being said, Evil Kin is definitely the worst song they've ever made.
This is awesome album! Swampsong will still Be their best but this is very close to that. It's very rare that album could be this perfect nowadays. Must buy!
Sami Väisänen haha nice, for me mainly I hated pvp xP I was mainly into hardcore raiding (I was a wow lord junkie) so couldn't listen to music while raiding as I needed to be on teamspeak. But my wow playing days was when I discovered all these bands and god damn those days were epic
There is something so pure about Kalmah. Don't listen to people who say "Their early stuff yada yada..." All Kalmah albums are just about the most headbangingly fun albums I can think of. Any first time listeners here should check out everything they've done. Randomly, "Black martens trace" is a track that all metalheads need to hear. If that doesn't get your fuckin blood pumping, well...

Yyyeeeaahh, Kalmah is back, man years ago between this album and the last. Amazing comeback, like all their album, but I think the debut was the best. Please, more from this music Kalmah, we are missing you, and this fantastic sound 🙋♀️🙋♀️🇦🇹🎸
This kind of music, melodic metal played in band, requires so much skill and determination, compared to some single artist, like pop singers and rappers. Melodic bands, for me, will always be number one.

When this came out I had a lot of expectations built up from the terrific Seventh Swamphony and didn't really care for Palo. I gave it another listen today and I can't believe I missed such an excellent album. I am amazed at how consistently good Kalmah is.
