Weber have raised their prices. I was shocked to see it. I have the slow and sear kettle, because of the obvious and much needed mods that weber just won't do for some reason. I was looking into the master touch premium but they have the lid hinge issue and what not. We gotta stop buying webers cause at this point they don't care anymore. I'm gonna start saving for this kettle. Great review!
Okay, I’ve been think about it. The two dogs in this race are the 26” Weber Kettle with the Slow n Sear XL in the red corner, and the Kamado Joe Kettle in the blue corner. They are within $20 of each other. They both offer the ability to smoke with easy cleanup. They can both cook hot and fast. In the case of the Weber, if more grilling space is required the Slow n Sear can be removed. In the case of the Kamado Joe Kettle, the Slow Roller is a fairly large piece to take out and store while grilling. Which dog wins this race?
and on the KJ kettle you have more room when smoking also. the insulated ceramic firebox helps the KJ retain more heat also.. and I prefer the vent system on the KJ kettle. plus the multi-zone cooking...
I originally said two dogs in this fight but I knew that would be upsetting so I changed it to race. I guess instead of red corner and blue corner I should have said Lane 1 and Lane 2.
@@shumardi1 well, you would actually have to compare it to the 22" Weber performer Premium at $399 due to the cart and table minus the trash can.. plus the $100 for the Slow n Sear you are even on the cost.. and personally I would put the KJ over the edge for the firebox, divide & conquer, and added smoking space...
I’ve never seen a 26” with SnS in person but if I understand you are saying the Kamado Joe Kettle would have more smoking capacity than the 26”? The 26” with SnS XL would add up to $480
Would it not be a bit more fair to compare the kettle joe to the classic I? My budget can't stretch to the classic II so at the moment it's between the classic I, masterbuilt kamado and kettle joe for me.
Just recwntly purchased the kettle joe on clearance for 250. Seems like a great deal but the quality control at.least on this particular joe is not that great. First.one i purchased the lid has 3 chips on the enamel. I was halfway putting it together. Went back to lowes got another one and although it was better, there was some chipping on the rim of the lid like it had been dragged on the floor. There was also some damage on the lid that was just painted.over during production. I have not had these issues with webber kettles.
I was wondering if You can fit the ceramic heat deflectors from the classic 2 on the new kamado kettle I’ve seen people using them for 2 zone cooking I was wondering if they could lay one on the bottom on top of the ceramic insulation plates in the fire box they have in the new kettle thanks
since the kettle has the ceramic firebox inserts, it is not as much more as you would think. you can still get a good 10-12 hour low and slow cook in the kettle without having to add charcoal.
It looks like the grill for the charcoal basket would allow a lot of partially spent charcoal to drop through. They should have a charcoal grill that holds the charcoal up a bit longer
