I’m not black, but my Mom comes from poor southern country folks, even picked cotton as a child. My granny made greens for us when we were kids, we helped pick them along with everything in her garden & berries around the fences. It’s been a while, but I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a bathtub or bacon involved. Ham hocks, I believe. And Granny didn’t have a bathtub. The only plumbing inside was at the sink from the rain tank outside. 😂 We kids loved to go visit Granny - 60’ & 70’s. She always had some of us cousins there. It wasn’t until the 90’s she got a well & an indoor bathroom. Wow that was a trip down memory lane. I’ll have to get with Mom & make some collard greens in honor of Kamala’s defeat in November. 😂

Putting some vinegar on your greens after cooked really is not a bad taste. There is a vinegar with hot pepper sauce that is very good for greens and beans. I think people up north also put vinegar on their fries.

To clarify why you put ham hocks or turkey necks in collard greens is you put "smoked ham hocks or smoked turkey necks" in collard greens to season the collard greens. And one smoked ham hocks or turkey neck is relatively cheap. And they aren't uaed for any other thing. Bacon doesn't add the smoked taste to collard greens. And if bacon did you'd have to put one or two pounds of bacon. And, bacon is typically eaten with eggs for breakfast. And garlic is never put in collard greens.

When I was little I remember going green hunting with my mom and grandma ...my grandma taught us to use ham hocks...plus reg seasonings and they were delicious. Oh by the way I'm white but loved those greens😅😊❤❤❤❤❤ love your show❤❤❤❤❤

Only way I’m washing COLLARD GREENS in a BATHTUB. 🛀 is If I Have 100 lbs of Em and I done BLEACHED. CLEANED AND SANITIZED THE TUB. But I’ve had 50lb of Greens and I WASH EM IN MY POOL.
