Fantastic, nuanced commander. Let's do a deep dive. www.patreon.com/BetterCommander Moxfield Page: www.moxfield.c... Buy Me A Coffee!: www.buymeacoff... #magicthegathering #commander #fomo #mtg #thunderjunction
Price is creeping up, but Tombstone Stairwell is crazy here. Since Kambal creates the copy tokens instead of Stairwell, you get to keep the billion zombies he makes every turn while all the ones your opponents make get buried. Goes crazy with a Blood Artist or similar effect
See, I just came in kinda mid here, trying to act cool like Nicky G didn’t just make a video about the exact commander I’ve been building ever since it was spoiled. This guy’s an absolute house. It’s like your average Orzhov token deck+++. Panharmonicon and Delney are quadruple effects since they double both triggers, so giving someone a spirit with Forbidden Orchard is four times as sweet, you hear me, brother?
Wedding Ring is such a fun and useful card in general. People say white doesn't have card draw, but giving the opponent who is most behind the other ring really sets you up to accelerate ahead of the your opponents.
Anyone who says that is dumb. MTG have spent the last 3 yrs releasing card draw and land ramp in white. It is only behind Green at this point. Really wish they’d show red some love for once!!
@@michaelpatalano9884 I feel like red has carved its niche out in terms of looting/rummaging and playing from exile for its version of card draw. Not every color needs to have the exact same tools
Great video! I love Kaya. Her +1 ability is actually really useful. I use her in my Jared Carthalion 5C tribal deck, because he makes Kavu tokens. Those deathtouch attackers are really nice. You will find any creature tokens your stealing will love Kaya's +1, but her -2 will definitely be solid as long as you can use it. I love the hyena jank I find on your channel as well. Infernal Genesis will be sweet to have fun with. I love when a Commander make unknown cards kinda good
Thank you for the ideas, I totally missed over encumbered and it seems like a huge winner here. Another massive powerhouse I found while playtesting was The War Games. It’s a really easy way to put a ton of power on board and it’s on curve with Kambal. Plus, there’s no payback from the tokens you give away because they’re goaded.
Kambal made its way into my Mr. House deck. Picked up a few more copies as I can see this one being a staple in any token decks in the colors and I do think the price of the card will climb when people catch on to how good it is. It's solid anti-rectangle theory tech.
So I run Kambal in arena and have a physical deck with him. I see your more focused on creating more tokens which is awesome, as am I, but I couldn't help but focus more on his drain ability. I decided to stack a multitude of drain combos, mostly with when a creature dies. Not much for giving them tokens but there's a few in there that do it. stacking drain in this way along with cards that make me sac for free has been lovely. The playstyle is confusing because normally it feels like it should be aggressive but I'm counting on you attacking so you screw yourself over with the multipliers of drain on the field, this creates stress and hesitation to attack me and meanwhile I'm just building the field. In this case I also suggest trying to put cards in the deck that can give you a token in each phase/step/instance, Bitterblossom being one of my favorites in example, another being Endrek Sahr Master Breeder. It's the token deck that hates other token decks and I couldn't love it more.
@@bettercommander I'm considering running Blood Clock/ Umbilicus for the sole purpose of repeatedly bouncing and replaying Wedding Ring to get even MORE copies of Wedding Ring.
Hey brother, how would you go about building commanders that are "bad"? I want to build a Drakuseth deck but a migh cmc in a color with little ramp is brutal. I know it isnt good but me like big dragon go smash, can you help a fella out?
I was planning on him in my Orzhov deck, as it likes token creation for drain effects. Just have to figure out which card to slot out for this Kambal (it already has the one that drains for 2 when they cast non-creature spells)
Great video as always brother. Looking to make this deck, you got a deck list on your moxfield? I was poking around your library and didn’t find one for the tax man mayor here.
Sleeper? This guy is absurdly powerful for anyone with a functioning brain. Even if you dont build around him, think about how many tokens so many archetypes are already making. Then this guy just says “no I’d win”. I hate it.
Saw this card and instantly started brewing a deck. Got the chance to play a few games with it, and people at my LGS are scared of him now... That's without the sanguine blood combo being in the deck. (It's going in tonight)
