Kamikaze is what I would call the flagship trail of the Hydrocut trail system. Short and sweet! I've literally ridden this thing over a hundred times; often a few times in a single ride. Thanks to the trail crew for keeping this hard line alive.

Tried it today for the first time. Damn the GoPro does NOT do this trail justice. Amazing to watch your speed through here. Well done.

Thanks! It's a lot steeper on the climbs than people realize, riding through without pedalling is the best challenge!

Dale Stone big time steep. The GoPro effect!! You made it look easy. Question what size bars are you using there? They look huge ....

Good question, not totally sure since it was a borrowed bike! I'd guess 780mm.

@@gearbox1858 Came here to comment exactly this. The gopro doesnt capture the elevation changes at all. When I watched this a couple weeks ago it just looked like a regular back and forth sorta switchback trail. When I rode it in person it's literally a roller coaster. I love the rock roll at the beginning of the trail too - This seems to be a relatively new addition since I don't see it in the video here. Looks a lot scarier on the run up, but if you roll on the first rock and hang left and then commit near the right side of the rock roll it's easy.

You're gonna love the way they changed Kamikazee now that there is Fluffy Bunny in place!

Did they close off the low line that cuts through the middle of everything? I hope so as that was a huge safety hazard haha. I'll have to check it out sometime this summer!

I've been to Hydrocut 4 or 5 times this year and every time it's been closed this year! When did you ride this? Looks great!

Toogy Howser MTB I believe it was the last week of August, the only time I went this year haha. I'm just happy it wasn't decommissioned for floppy bunny!

Adam's Run is pretty good now. The hydrocuts are kinda lame in general tho. They need more jump trails.
@DaleStone

Hard to make jump trails with such little elevation!

@@DaleStone it is possible though. There's hidden jumptrails scattered all over waterloo region.

Well done. I cant make it up the hill at 1:43 in your video. Rocks just seem to slow me down too much. Maybe I need to carry more speed. Perhaps locking out rear suspension out would help which seems to absorb a lot of momentum at bottom of hill before
@DaleStone
@DaleStone 5 лет назад
Erik Griffioen do you mean 0:43? That one is definitely the hardest for me. I would suggest locking out your shock since then you'd have to time your power more precisely. Just unlock it, no brakes and punch it!
@erikgriffioen6230
@erikgriffioen6230 5 лет назад
@@DaleStone Sorry, the hill at 0:40 (the 2nd last one). Do you lock out your rear sus ? By the way, love all your videos from all over BC and Europe. You have had quite a summer of riding
@DaleStone
@DaleStone 5 лет назад
Erik Griffioen I don't lock out my suspension on rolling trails. I think the key to getting up the hill at 0:40 is to fully commit from the downhill before, take it high and don't touch your brakes. There are two schools of though for these: hard gear and pedal the uphill or easy gear and pedal the downhill. Try both, I like the hard gear strategy myself. And thanks! Hopefully each year will be more interesting than the last. I'm glad you've been enjoying my content! :)

Think these trails would be fine with a hybrid bike like the Specialized CrossTrail (or something similar) with front suspension? I'm in the market for a new bike but I haven't bought one in years. I've always been a mountain bike rider (I had a Gary Fischer when I was a little kid) but I want something for city roads too. When visiting friends and family, I still want to hit the trails kinda like this or lighter. Any and all help is appreciated.
@DaleStone
@DaleStone 5 лет назад
I would assume that you'd be able to ride Hydrocut on more or less anything with front suspension. One of my close friends rode it on a fully rigid, bald tired single speed for a few months and survived. Obviously it's more fun if you're on a mountain bike with relevant XC geometry, but anything will do!

If you're still in the area we should go rode Fanshawe.

Not in the area anymore! Never knew Fanshawe had trails though, good singletracky stuff?

@@DaleStone ya just a 22km loop. There's some really good parts and some boring parts but only being a 5 km ride from my place I can live with it. One unsanctioned trail "Rollercoaster" is right on the edge of the lake and goes up and down in about 30 foot rollers. Just went on Sunday and remembered that the trails are flooded in the low areas from all the rain. Almost 5' in some areas.
@DaleStone
