Battling rain, wind and chilly conditions, Chris "Kamikaze" Day and the Street Outlaws No Prep Kings managed to put on a great show at RT66 Joliet! Rain all day Friday and into the night with cold temps plus high winds led to a starting time of 11pm along with a very sketchy track surface! Chris was already at a huge disadvantage running a new twin turbo setup and untested new chassis in his sinister looking "Kamikaze" El Camino! To make matters worse yet, he came up against Kye Kelley's "Shocker" Camaro in the first race in an attempt to "race your way in" to the 32 Car Invitational with a purse of $40,000 to the winner! At the launch the Elco bounced violently but Chris managed to stay in it as the Shocker lost traction off the line veering left and never able to recover giving Chris the victory and the chance the next day to seal his spot in the invitational. Saturday came with gloomy overcast skies, chilly temperatures and gusty winds but rain free forecasts. Chris' opponent to lock in a spot was Steve Stanick and his "Warbird" firebird. Chris spins the tires on the launch and the car starts bucking and bouncing again but powers into it as the Warbird gets out of shape early as Chris goes on to win and earn a spot in the event! In the first round Chris comes up against B-RAD Brad Fasse's "Luminasty" Lumina. Both drivers get into a pre staging duel but once the go light goes green they both launch hard with Luminasty taking the advantage and powering out on Kamikaze for quite a ways till the turbos kick in as Chris charges hard but not soon enough, as Brad takes the win by a car length. It looked as Kamikaze had the chassis somewhat close on this run and seeing he is still sorting out the new setup he will be a force to be reckoned with in the next series!
