Thanks for watching! 1. For the bus from Osaka to Kamikochi and Takayama back to Osaka, I booked online, using credit card. For Kamikochi to Hirayu Onsen, I just purchased the ticket from the vending machine at kamikochi, I used cash but I don’t remember if the machine accepts credit card or not. From Hirayu onsen to Takayama, I also bought the tickets at the station using cash. Lastly, a round trip from Takayama to Shirakawago, I bought it at the bus station, I think I used credit card. But just to be sure, you should also bring cash. 2. For the ryokan, I booked online via agoda.com 3. For most parts that you can book online, you can use credit card. But make sure to have cash especially for Kamikochi where they do not have atm. Hope that helps! And have a nice trip in Japan! Also please note that Kamokochi will only open until November 15th.

Thank you for watching! There’s a bus from Kamikochi to hirayu-onsen then connect to another one to Takayama then another to Shirakawa-go. It would take around 3 hours. I would recommend you to check out all bus schedules (especially the one between Takayama to Shirakawa-go) and plan ahead especially if you plan to go both places in one day. But I would recommend you to go one place per day for a more relaxing experience in both places.

Thank you for watching! For those 2 trips, you can just buy it before boarding the bus. But you can check the time schedules before hand, to schedule your trip. For Kamikochi to hirayu onsen, I don’t remember where I found the bus schedule, but from what I noted in my itinerary, the first bus departs at 7am and last bus at 5:30pm (runs every 30minutes). Hi! I think it would be a bit difficult with toddlers if you will use a stroller, since the trails are mostly for hiking. But if you use baby carrier, it should be fine.

Thank you! There are several restaurants there. You can check out in google maps before deciding to stay there. Even though they don’t actually provide dinner/breakfast, they do have some bread and coffee/tea for free in the tea room on the 1st floor.

It was November 4th-6th. Pretty short trip, only for the weekends. I didn’t use any pass. I just bought the regular price tickets, since the pass was not suitable for the trip we have planned. But if you’re here for longer, maybe the passes would be more suitable.

Hi! It’s more like shared bathrooms. They have a total of 3 bathrooms. Each has its own onsen: two indoors and one outdoor (upstairs, which is the room shown in the video). No need to book since it’s a shared bathroom, but depending on how many people are staying in the ryokan, you have to wait for the person who was using it to finish in order to use it. Also, the ryokan is not exactly in Kamikochi, but a small onsen town nearby.

I believe there’s a fee to camp at Kamikochi. I am not sure about more details. As for Shirakawa-go, camping is not allowed within the world heritage village.

Yes, there’s a loop. The path is like in the video, so I believe kids will have no trouble. But please check the weather before going. It’s much colder there.

We started walking around 6am (as soon as there was sunlight), took some photos and went for breakfast. No official time, so you can start whatever time you want. As for the date, we went on November 5th, it was indeed a bit late for the red leaves (this year) but I was also waiting for the snow to cover up the top part of the mountain. So, for me, it was worth it; to have Kamikochi cover with some snow and still have some red leaves, that was I was hoping to see. But that will also depends on your preference.

I only bought 2 tickets online in advance: 1. the night bus to Kamikochi (link: www.alpico.co.jp/en/timetable/kamikochi/?.org&) 2. the bus from Takayama back to Osaka (Links willerexpress.com/en/bus_search/gifu/takayama/osaka/all/). As for other bus you can buy there, no need to worry. But you can book a one day tour to shirakawago from Takayama or you can go individually. Moreover, depending on where you are planning to stay. You can also go from Kamikochi straight to Takayama. As Kamikochi has a closing period you should check first before going, also to check the weather conditions, leaves 🍁 status, and accommodations at Kamikochi; you can check for more details from their official website www.kamikochi.org For Shirakawago, shirakawa-go.gr.jp/en/ and www.vill.shirakawa.lg.jp/en/ Hope this helps!
