Nice flight. I wonder when Chilliwack Airport will refresh that runway paint? That other aircraft should have declared a position on the river just as you were. Hmm? Its funny, your flight into Chilliwack was so routine for me and Im just the flight simulator pilot. For avaition buffs who love your RV6, they can purchase and fly it in MFS2020! Vr of course is more realistic. Glad that close call wasnt even closer! Take care.
I wondered why that land between the compost facility and Tranquille Farm would be flooded in September, but then saw you recorded this in June. I can't help but recall the biblical words, What is man that thou art mindful of him, when viewing those rugged mountains. And imagine the foresight and brawn of the thousands of men who pushed a railway through that terrain without benefit of modern machinery, and then the highway. It looks so puny from above. Thanks for posting these vids.
Dale once again thank you for taking your followers on another flight. It is always so nice to see a new video coming from you. I really enjoyed listening to the ATC on your radio. Sounds like there was a lot of traffic out there? Are you going to be showing the return flight back? Here's to another thumbs up on your videos!👍
Thanks. One of the cameras failed to record the return trip. I’m currently looking to see if it’s worth salvaging. I should have another one out later this week where I finally head south of the border!
Beautiful flight! These close calls are common between YPK and YCW - many use either 22.77 or 22.70 and some even 22.72 frequencies here. People do not know rules and act dangerously sometimes. I found it was a bit low on final for 07 :)
@@HowIFly I currently fly PA28-235 with "Hershey bar" wings. My glide ratio is 5:1 on a good day :) so I tend in opposite to approach at steep angles just to stay safe. What is your RV glide ratio ?
A few weeks back I had a similar experience with another plane just outside YPK. I was making positions reports eastbound and had just switched over to Pitt Tower when he/she came right at me. I banked and gave them space but it was unnerving. Eyes extra out in the Fraser Valley!
Beautiful! What was the date of this flight? I was through Merritt a couple of weeks ago, and I don't remember it looking so green! The closest call of my life happened at Chilliwack, on October 10, 1992. I was landing, and crossed overhead from the north to join the right downwind for 25. Just as I rolled out on the downwind, another 152 from my school crossed less than 100' in front of me, about 20' below my altitude. I was close enough that I could clearly hear the other aircraft, and I actually recognized the pilot. On the ground, we discovered that he was using an out-of-date checklist, on which the ATF frequency was incorrect.
I was making frequent position broadcasts but I didn’t hear anything from them. It’s subtle but I had to alter course to avoid them…they made no similar move to avoid me so I’m guessing they didn’t see me at all
