Completely by chance I was visiting Al Ula, Saudi Arabia when this movie was filmed (the Kandahar scenes were filmed there instead of in Afghanistan for obvious reasons) in December 2021. The car chase scene was filmed on the same street as the hotel I happened to be staying at; there was a car flipped over and police around (to prevent people from getting in the shot), and as I had no idea they were filming a movie I thought there had actually been an accident! Many local people were hired to play Afghani extras and given Afghan clothing, including the manager of the hotel I was staying at, who was Egyptian. It was really strange to see this sleepy Saudi town suddenly turned into Afghanistan over night.
Gerald Butler, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Daniel Craig, Clive Owen are all great action actors and deserve much more credit than they are given.
Gerald Butler never disappoints he’s one of my favorite actors. When I see his name in a movie before I even watch the trailer I’m always giving it a 10/10
WOW.. I can't say when last I watched a movie so beautifully made like this. Really enjoyed it. Roman was truly a friend in time of need. Sacrificed his own life for his friend.
Yes, I agree. I love to see his movies on opening day in the theatre. So much fun. Plane nearly died me in. Had to have a drink when I got home just to calm down!
Just watched the early release in the movies. Adrenaline through the movie. Really well done. And at the end i really like that they did not end after the action scene but for the main actors showed the aftermath in their lives. Overall one of the best action movies i have in years!
Just saw Kandahar early screening & it was 3. Bahador Foladi, Navid Neghban, Gerard Butler, Travis Fimmel & Ali Fazal give superb performances. Cinematography is amazing & an all-around great movie & supporting cast!! Shout out to the special effects department!!
After I got out of the Marines I spent about 4 years in Afghan doing private security. A lot of that was around Kandahar. Cant wait to see this movie. I miss it most days.
How many civilians have you killed? Or your friends??? Why you escape away? Qhy you waste your time? Why people say thank you for serving amd blah blah.. Serving 20000 km away? Afghans had nothing with that buildinga...
Saw KANDAHAR opening day and theatre was half full before noon. Great action! Terrifying scenes, kept you in suspense all the way through. You don't know how it will end. GO SEE KANDAHAR! You will not forget this movie!!!!
I don't believe this movie was made to predict the Iranian nuclear program. This is why. The movie was made as a result of one military man's experience while he was stationed there. It's his story of what happened. It's based on a true story. The information is in an article in the publication "Military Times."
This is another movie to make us believe that the people of Afghanistan are the bad guys and that the military intervention of other countries is completely justified.
Only the ignorant like yourself believe that. People who were on the ground or who do an ounce of research knows that Afghanistan is a non nato ally which asked for our help to combat insurgents (outsiders) in the area. Stop watching movies and pick up a book.
Wow the Trailers of this Kandahar movie are Súper interesting lot of Action, the sound is Great and of course with the Best Actor Gerard Butler looking Absolutly Fabulous ❤❤❤👏👏
@@ashuroking007 It has a high relevance and deep connection to mahabharat...main antagonist of mahabharat i.e. Shakuni was the kingof Gnadhaar where HIS story of vengeance started.
@pratyush Bhai they didn't only used the word they shot the movie in Kandahar in Afghanistan. Everything is not always has to be connected with our country, hindu gods, geeta, ramayan, Mahabharat.
Interesting fact. The roots of Kandhar are linked with Mahabharata. It's a thousands of years old city. One of the main character named as Gandhari was the princess of Kandhar..Now it's in Afghanistan. In those days it was all Bharatvarsha..
Kandahar is more known for its warriors and kings, I'm from Kandahar and never in my life I have heard or read such BS, you might know one of our kings though, Ahmad Shah Abdali, rings a bell?
One of the best aspects of this movie is the saddest: the many factions involved in what makes the Middle East sooo unstable, extending beyond culture but the unfortunate reality of terrible ppl in power from Iran, India, Russia, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan. It’s unreal, and how the writers illustrate that on screen in such a short time is brilliant.
Watched KANDAHAR today on my Blu-ray copy. Although I knew what the story was, I have to say it is so much more! It's very powerful. So much going on in that part of the world. This Gerard Butler movie is much more than him blowing things up which I've heard his critics say. Take another look and try to understand. It's eye opening. Thanks GB! 😊❤
You have more fans than critics. I enjoy politely engaging your critics in conversation. It's entertaining. Thank you for your message. You're the best!❤
@@sierrafoxtrot745elnaaz is a worst actress of Bollywood. She is the side of the side and lower character in this movie atleast ali got main character.
I don't know if you were there. If so you would know the real things that happened in Kandahar. For me this movie showed many things I did not see on the national news. For one, the average person's daily life. Another, how many different countries involved and their interests. There is much more. People who do not serve cannot comprehend the constant dangers of war and the.weapons of today. War is horrible. The movie showed me just how horrible, yet we have people involved doing what their governments tell them to do and it is brutal. I still recommend the movie and the actors and crew did a great job. Thank you for listening.
@@GagandeepSingh-ph7fo You sure? Recent interview with gerald butler several weeks back he says he's taking a break from the series and I haven't heard anything since.
@@jakelol5119 Well, I don't know about that but I think it's still a go. Since Butler confirmed himself he's returning. Maybe he is probably taking a break, or maybe the script isn't finished yet. Let me research quick. Edit: As of Feb 2, 2023 article, it says that Butler has a on-going lawsuit, thus delaying the production for Night has fallen. The production is also developing a tv series for Has Fallen. So most definitely, night has fallen is still a go, we just don't know whens the release date. We just gotta wait I guess.
