As a person born and raised in Kane'ohe, the reason there are no beaches is because we don't have waves. It's why we water ski and kayak instead of going to the beach. If you want the beach, you go to Kailua or Kualoa. The planes that you are going to hear is from the Marine Corps base. You can see the mountains when it's not raining, but most of the time you don't see the mountain cause it rains so much (also why it's so green). Never had a yard with water sprinklers until I moved to the mainland.
@@movingtohawaii It usually doesn't rain enough for the waterfalls to come out, so if it's raining on the town side then it's probably raining enough on the Windward side to see the waterfalls. I would say mostly winter and spring.
@@movingtohawaii When I lived in Kaneohe we took my buddy’s boat to the sandbar or kayaked a lot more than when I lived in Kailua. Your video does a decent job highlighting the different ocean activities between the two towns. A lot of Kailua expats trying to move back to Hawaii are looking at Kaneohe instead due to availability and price.
Seeing a trend here; if Koolauloa (Kaaawa to Kahuku) is next on your list to feature, on behalf of Kanaka Maoli of this area we request that you pass our Moku (District) up. Derek has already made a video covering the North Shore. Perhaps that’s good enough for both sides of Koolauloa, with their insane traffic problems, rock falls shutting down the highway, and homes foolishly built on the shore front falling into the ocean. Skip over us tho, gladly. Being priced out of paradise has been a problem for us for well since air bnb, beach rentals, beach front homes had became a thing here in Hawaii, PCC, since pineapples, since sugar…maopopo anei? Subsequently, our road infrastructure has paid the price both in traffic numbers and road damage. Gentrification is a looming annual threat, whether it come from the government or from people trying to turn Koolauloa into wherever it is they moved here from, we hope to never entertain it. I think I read somewhere that it's quite hard to make good-quality pavement/concrete roads in hot climates as they tend to crack more often due to rapid moisture evaporation in the creation process.
