Recurve women's individual gold medal match between Kang Chae Young of Korea and Lei Chien-Ying of Chinese Taipei at the 2019 Hyundai World Archery Championships in 'S-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. Recurve archers shoot at a target 70 metres away, 122cm in diameter and the central 10-ring measures just 12.2 centimetres in diameter (about the size of a DVD).

I liked the old FITA scoring better. Deciding on the distance of one single arrow seems like a ridiculous way of deciding since overall consistency really marks the better archer and a gust of wind at the wrong time could affect the result.

Wow, just calculated it. It's a deviation of 2 seconds of degree. It's better then average telephoto lens physical optical limit, restricted only by light wavelength! Unbelievable!

Well they ain't wrong because a release aid removes the 8th of the, hypothetical, 10 variables in recurve shooting which leaves only one for compound shooters, which increases accuracy significantly! But these are different styles of archery with differing zeniths of perfection, so of course a compound bow is more accurate than a recurve one and so is higher the winning standard.
