Netflix Kengan Ashura Season 2 Episode 12 Kaolan Wongsawat and Fang of Metsudo muay thai boxing power. Kanoh beats Kaolan and declare him as the strongest opponent. #kenganashura #ohma #kanohagito
Guys, after watching last season, at age of 33, I signed up for a muai thai gym. Took a private trainer for first four month, first lesson in an hour. Wish me luck.
@@dressrosa1791 Thank you =) So far so good. The belly is a bit in the way and I get winded way faster than I would like too. But as I did train in a gym in my twenties, I do have some muscle. Quite a bit actually, I did not expect that. On first session my trainer brought out the pads. After first couple of rounds of strikes he went to the storage and came back with a set of thick sturdy leather pads. Those are the ones we train with since. My strikes are fairly strong, but slow.... And I am TERRIBLE at blocking/evading. like Jesus, how do people do that, I have a turn around time of a battleship. But I am having lot of fun. And I already feel way stronger. And more confident. Even though I didn't learn much yet. For now just with my private trainer, but in a month the sessions package I purchased runs out, and I'll join the "Small group", and at that point I'll start sparring a bit. For now its just me working the bag/pads.
From Gaolang's perspective, this is actually impressive. This is his first time participating in a Kengan Match and he managed to instill fear into it's reigning champion. Quite an impressive feat from someone who's a first timer in the Kengan underworld
@@Faezinethey fight professionally from around 6 or 7 years old, fighting is their livelihood, and their tradition, you’d better be scared of them in a fight
fang wasnt feared and fang would mopped the floor with galoang if fang didnt block all of his abilities except boxing wich he doesnt know how he just like being cocky if he fought from the begining with his own techniques he would end the fight 10x times faster
@@Gopstop222 fang stated that if he didnt accidentally block gaolans punch with his elbow and shatter his fist, he probably wouldnt have won. they also stated that its because of the switchup to a takedown at the end that he learned from naoya that he could win as well.
And don`t forget winning by luck, Kanoh words XD And let`s be hones, by the amount of hits he took from the most powerful boxer, he should have been ko ed, but plot armor is strong. Hopefully they`ll animate Omega tournament.
@@Yolozaur69 I’d like to agree but unfortunately I think the Fang is just that monstrous (especially in an anime world where the context of being hit is very off kilter to real life haha) , but Kaolan is definitely one of my favourites on the roster I was sad to see him lose but happy to see him take it like a champ 😈
@@Yolozaur69Exactly! Only saved by the plot. Kaolan def won this fight and Agito took way more hits than his damaged showed. He should definitely not have won.
the only reason it was tough for agito is becuz he wanted beat him in boxing while agito knew nothing about boxing if he started with his own fight style he would beat kaolan much faster
@@Miqzz eh I honestly like it imo the fights are really good maybe not better than Ashura but it’s still good, we’re getting questions answered that we didn’t have before, characters returning and getting deeper backstory on them (Kanaoh) and more sure the mc isn’t the best rn but he’s grown on me I like him and he’s grown as a character imo
@@zerotheassassin4046That's valid, but personally i just dont care for for where/how the story is going and how much it revolves around worms/guihun and all of that it's just a different style that i personally dont think serves the series that well
Too bad the next arc (Omega) is really shit. It basically lives off of the hype of kengan ashura and all new characters introduced are pure jobbers that have no merit or substance. The cast we have now remains the best
@@GroomeyNig generic hahaha he is a calculating badass with a great fighting style and it was just unlucky that he broke his fist at the end of the fight. He could have won if he didnt break it, which is better shown in the manga tbh. Kaolan is great
for anyone who doesn't know when fang was getting folded near the start (1:16) he was getting punched so hard but he literally forgot that he was even fighting Kaolan in the first place. He got the punched so hard he lost his memory in the middle of a fight
Well yes and no, Fang is sort of two personalities. So when he changed his phrasing between “me” and “we” it was implied fang was basically forced to fight with both personalities when his original intention was to fight with just one
@@micute9711 it's a localization thing I'm not really on board on, it's just that going from japanese to english a lot of context sensitive stuff such as the level of formality gets lost in translation. Fang, in his wilder form, drops all pretenses of formality and just uses "ore" to refer to himself, whereas normally he would use "watashi". Since english doesn't have different pronouns for different levels of formality in the language the translators decided to keep the difference by using "we" where he would use "ore", which makes him seem more deranged than normal.
its not said in the anime but he blacked out because he got knocked out temporarily by gaolang. if kanoh didn't have the special property of being able to fight while unconscious he would have lost immediately
I feel like the reason why kanoh agito loved this fight is because of how simple it is. You got all of these super soldiers and assassins, fighters who mastered an art that is either a secret or is around for centuries and only modified by one man. Kanohs fights always had average individuals with simplistic fighting styles, but master that stuff to a tee. Kaolan didnt even pull muay thai until kanoh used another marital art. I guess thats what he and his fans loved the most "beauty in simplicity". No fancy moves, no one hit kill moves, just a straight bare knuckle brawl keeps the heart pumping
Everyone enjoys twists and techniques and secret moves and combos. But everyone loves when it's just an all out first fight between 2 people that just want to go straight to business. Yu Yu Hakasho: Kuwabara: You don't seem to understand why everyone in the crowd is quiet. It's 2 men agreeing to just hit each other until one drops. It's just Strength versus Endurance, it's the most Manliest thing you'll ever see
The fact that kaolan was the only one who almost defeated fang along with making the fang fears him says a lot about how dangerous kaolan is. In reality, he didnt lose, he won by making the biggest monster afraid of him
This really did bring the fight to life in a realistic but still better than baki way. Still, Grando official will still have the title for doing this fight the best.
@@albertnascimento636Makes it realistic too. You see in some pro mma fights that some fighters CAN use what they specialize in soley and dominate the fight in that aspect, but they often rather show people they arent 1 trick ponies.
Kengan deserve way much recognition.Waay better than baki imo.I tried to watch baki, but couldn't watch past the first 2 eps, while i've watched Kengan anime 2 times already and reading weekly the manga.Hope we get Kengan Omega anime after this! 🔥🤜🤛
Man no matter the medium, Boxing is just a treat to watch whether it's choreographed or not... probably the only sport I regularly watch. 1:57 My favorite exchange in this fight!
Honestly one of my most favorite fights in any fictional media ever. Im very picky when it comes to barehanded fighting, but damn this was a treat, I never changed my mind on who I thought would win so many times througout a fight. Shit was INTENSE
I’m saying. People seem to hate the cgi but don’t realize it makes the fights more fluid and alive instead of repeated animations cause of how expensive it is to draw all of this
@@lightolineo551 no what that would be horrible. That takes the anime aspect of the show out. And everybody is already used to the cgi so changing it would be a bad idea
@@lightolineo551 I don't get you people. Yes, for the most part, studios can't execute proper use of CGI, but Kengan is an exception. They use motion capture with real fighters and stuntmen to display the action, this is why they go for CGI. Motion capture is very expensive, they don't do this due to a lack of budget.
It doesn’t seem like anyone has said it, but the changing his intention from striking to grappling in his instant and then nailing the other guy with a soccer kick after the throw is the same thing the other guy did (ogito?) in his first fight in season 1 Super cool detail!
Best fight so far, incredibly happy that kaolan put up an amazing fight, basically knew the fang was gonna win in the end, i just hoped that kaolan put up an amazing fight and he did
This isn't really a lost for Kaolan in my opinion. His boxing was so good, so superior that he made a monster like Agito quit the challenge of trying to beat him via boxing and instead rely on his usual style of fighting. In the end, Agito was disappointed and ashamed to do so.
What I like about this fight it clearly teeling that if Agito tried only to beat Kaolang as a boxers. We will have lose. This fight shows that the emperor was weak in some ways and he's also beatable. Wich I like, it makes him less blank. Will have prefer Kaolang as a final boss thought.
Personally I found it original that the final Boss have weaknesses. He is not exaggeratingly strong like final boss of others anime and it add a lot of suspense
@@ErnestoTorres-hw7duhe user to be a muay thai fighter but switched to boxing cuz he was the strongest in muay thai, then he combined the two into his own style of fighting
The fight I was waiting for the most abd it didn't disappoint! I love just how intense it felt, not as much as the manga, but it was still and incredible feeling!
The scene is so damn clever , goalan start with boxing continues with muay thai with a traditional stance and later when he sees that Agito is able to handle it well by blocking his strong sides and plus agito is changing stance too ,then he changes to southpaw stance at the end so to make it both closed stances but then he expects the right to come but then instead agito tackles what a hell of a fight!
@@Ozymandias-Sunkinghe really does at least from a martial artist perspective like me he only fought with boxing and Muay Thai he would’ve gone to at least the finals if he knew more martial arts hell they even said if he didn’t break his hand he would’ve won that fight he also said he’s the strongest opponent abviously meaning he’s better then kuroki so idk what you mean
@@freshprinceofgettingdisres2089 It's not about winning fights Kuroki is still immensely superior to Kaolan in the art of fighting, that's what I wanted. He was literally declared the pinnacle of martial arts and the pinnacle of prediction, I don't think so, if you haven't seen the manga and only follow the anime, Fangs was the ideal opponent for Kuroki, Thanks to its switching between shapeless and shaped styles.
I just watched Season 2 on Saturday and the amount of improvement put into it is just amazing! The fights, the music, the emotions, the story - everything (in my opinion) was by far the best Season so far and I can't wait for the Finale! I watched Season 1 and Season 2 at the same day - the amount of adrenaline I got in Season 2 isn't slightly comparable with Season 1. I really wish I could experience all that again! I fell in love with the long fights, compared to the other ones. It would be top tier if Kengan Ashura wasn't made with CGI but overall an Anime I'd recommend to everyone!
Gaolan legitimately scared me. I realise this is just an anime, however I legitimately felt awe for the God of War. Fighting against one of the best (if not the best) warriors of the tournament, he displayed royalty, honor and unwavering skill throughout the fight. Not a shred of fear, no thoughts of defeat. He gave it his absolute everything for his honor as the emperor's fist. Truly a warrior to look up to. As a side note, the emperor also bet an exorbitant amount of money on Gaolan. It shows the level of respect and companionship they share along with their similar mindset. The emperor did not once question Gaolan or his ability in combat. He went all in without a second thought, knowing that Gaolan is doing the same.
I love animes that actually choreograph their fights rather than one character hits a powerful move BOOM! that move hits then a background voice explains the move so that you get how impactful it really is. Kengen gets a 11/10 when it comes to fight scenes
The leap in quality from the first to second season is unbelievable. Both parts of the first season hold a special place in my heart but DAMN, it just looks and flows infinitely better than the animation in the first two parts.
This is what makes Kengan so good. Agito is portrayed as the big bad guy that Ohma will face in the finals and yet he struggles with a side character. Each and every match up is a toss up and you can't tell who will win.
@@reyneerleon3851delete this, do not spoil One of the best things about the manga is that you didnt know who would win, so please dont ruin that suspense
The first time I watched / read was so hype. Every match up was a toss up, every character was a toss up. There were some obviously stronger than the others, but from the top 8, you really didn't know who would win any match up. Even round 2, all the match ups were good and most were close and some of the round 1 match ups too. And it was pretty well done because you had some upsets as well, not because of just lazy writing, but because of arrogance from a character or a bad match up. But not so many upsets that you just thought all the fighters were stupid, enough to make the fights tense. I actually had no idea who the top 8 were gonna be, you have a favourite in mind but the other fighter also has good strengths on their side and could get lucky. Plus a fighter might look strong on paper but that might just be because their opponent was easier so you never truly know who is the strongest. I definitely thought Kiryu would be in the finals too. Baki has its strengths but the Raitai tournament was so disappointing to watch. All the fights were just so boring and one sided.
Right?! I thought at first since Agito is the main big bad guy, the obstacle Ohma would have to climb over, Agito would easily wipe the floor with GOATlang but halfway through I started having hope that Kaolan was gonna win because Agito was struggling to deal any finishing blows on him even towards the end when Agito was catching his jabs, I still thought Kaolan was gonna win
Muay Thai is one of the best martial arts, but here are weaknesses: - Muay Thai doesn't favor punches, as seen in the anime, but in real Muay Thai, punches don't score much points, so there is no need for focusing or protecting from punches. Slipping and beautiful head movement isn't taught much in Muay Thai - Muay Thai's lack of punching can make the fighters really bad at defending punches, because they would not expect it in a Muay Thai match, so they are bad at head movement or dodging punches. This is the reason why Ramon Dekkers dominated Muay Thai because of his punches. - Muay Thai cares a lot about dominance in a fight and looking tough, so moving backwards or dodging don't give as much points, because tanking the attacks will make you look more dominant, so many Muay Thai fighters condition and have pretty bad defense against punches. - Muay Thai's stance is squared to protect themselves from kicks, which score high in Muay Thai, checking is often used in Muay Thai to stop kicks, and checking can be used effectively in a square stance, but the square stance leaves your whole body to punches, and both your livers are facing the opponent, and your head is right in front of you opponents, this is why Muay Thai fighters have a high guard. - The high guard can block punches to the head effectively, but your liver is exposed, so liver punches are not protected much in Muay Thai, because again, punches don't score much and it is not used much in Muay Thai. The high guard is also used because Muay Thai uses elbows, and lower guards are not good for using elbows. - Muay Thai's square stance is also really bad for defending takedowns, because both your legs are close to takedowns and your tall stance is bad for sprawling. Muay Thai's kicks are a lot slower than snapping kicks, but WAY more powerful than snapping kicks, but Muay Thai kicks are telegraphed and slower, so a Grappler can grab your leg then take you down. - When Muay Thai fighters clinch, they wouldn't expect hip throws from the clinch and they would get thrown to the ground. - Muay Thai fighters have really bad footwork compared to Boxers and Wrestlers, and Muay Thai fighters are focused on tanking and blocking attacks. Their lack of footwork is why they are getting knocked out by strong punches to the head (Head conditioning is not possible) - Muay Thai is a bit stiff looking but stable, so their movement can be slow and predictable, because their kicks lack variety and they usually just fake punches to do a kick. Just like Taekwondo, kicking is used a lot in Muay Thai. Muay Thai is pretty slow too. - Muay Thai's weaknesses are mostly: lack of boxing, obviously lack of grappling, footwork, speed, and ruleset of the sport, Muay Thai is by far the best striking art you can learn -The best counters to Muay Thai can be Boxing or Wrestling, these are the main weaknesses of Muay Thai, and learning Boxing and Wrestling can also fix all your weaknesses from Muay Thai. (Writing is not really my specialty and I'm not really good at it, I tried my best writing this)
When I first saw this fight in the manga , I was really shocked, because, I didn't expect Gaolan to be that strong. Add that with other fighters talking about Gaolan having disadvantage because of shorter reach. In the end, Agito won because of pure luck.
@@ekos3songs974 not really, although akoya's girl, hiyama might be capable of predicting movements, she takes lot of time before doing that. Also she has trouble keeping up if someone suddenly changes their fighting style. Furthermore Agito is just on different level compared to Akoya in terms of physical strength, skills and tactics.
I never noticed how many times Agito got caught lacking in the manga version of this fight, gaolang landed a lot more heavy hit than the fang did but couldnt break past his plot armor lined face.
Bro this show is way better than baki in my opinion. Almost every character has a very good reason to be fighting, all likeable, and they do not throw 6 punches and tell a hour back story behind the reason the 6 punches were thrown. These guys just throw down!
yeah it's very moderately true on the other hand... each character has different reasons to fight, whether it's for the title like katsumi, through hatred like jack, (quite ambiguous for baki), by instinct for pickle, even some have little or no interest in yujiro, like doppo and shibukawa. So it's different from kengan of course, but it's no less valid. Then for the problem of the fights, it is (except for baki 2001) but it is unfortunately a fault specific to the anime.
@gckeeper6314 the way Baki put it, when he said every child at one point dreams of being strongest, so the goal of every fighter there is to be the strongest on earth, but ya Pickle might be a little different, but he also likes a good fight
