If you really like them both, just give the original visual novels a try. There always is a chance that you won't like the media format, but there's no harm in trying it.
I first saw Kanon 06' 2 years ago... somewhere around May 2013.... I decided to watch it after a random recommended it to me... I would love to find the person who recommended this to me... I owe them everything. This song.... I have been playing this song non-stop for the past 2 years now. This song, along with this anime, will forever hold a special place in my heart :)
I remember back in around 2012-13 ish when I found this anime randomly and watched it, I was extremely impressed. But as a 10-11 year old at the time I was impressed by most shows. This one to this day has a very special place in my heart even as a 16 year old with a job
I think it's because it's sad but not depressing like clannad. Like its tear jerking but there's a bittersweetness to it thats calming when you hear this song.
All Key Animes are exactly the same, a person is falls ill by a mysterious sickness and leaves theyre loved one behind , an animal assumes human shape to confess its love to a human only to turn back right after they do so, and a comatosed person projects their thoughts and Hopes into a person to communicate with the living world. AND I STILL LOVE AND CRY TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM T^T T^T T^T
It's really great, but quite different. It's not Key production. But it's worth watching! Also one of best anime I've ever seen, with beautiful story and music(:
Don't know why I just realized this year's after watching this show but... Spoilers.. As sad as this show was, nobody actually died except makoto.. and I mean, at the end they hinted that she came back as a baby fox but she was never a part of their lives again..
I actually got into Kanon (and the rest of Key series) because of this song. It sounded so sad and all... wasn't that far off from the truth. Clannad AS is way better, though.
