Kanopy has some great offerings. As a library worker, my frustration is the amount of items that we can stream as a library program that come with public performance rights are usually pretty old and limited.

I agree. Kanopy and Criterion Collection have the best selection of films in my opinion. I live in DC and have 10 credits with Kanopy :)

Someone on a FB Criterion group helped me realize that my library offers Kanopy for free. And honestly it's incredible. Every first of the month I reset to 9 credits, and each credit is equivalent to one film watch. There's a wide, wide variety of films and an extremely extensive collection of Criterion Collection films which I was so pleasantly surprised by. They also have a bunch of old silent films too including Nosferatu which I had a difficult time finding. Seriously, every time I'm on there I'm shocked with films that I had been wanting to watch for so long. So thankful for my library and for Kanopy

9 credits? Lol, my library gives only 3 credits. Still, I guess I shouldn't complain about three free movies a month. I just have to be more selective about it.

@@garyk2629 Maybe it depends on library size? I signed up with LAPL. And true, if nothing else it's free at the end of the day. I just watched 12 Angry Men for the first time a few days ago and I'm just so happy it was on there

Dang, in my state almost none of the libraries have kanopy or hoopla, it's only some random ones in the middle of nowhere

Library’s that do not have Kanopy might have Hoopala instead.

We have hoopla here. It depends on what your library spends on it you can get from 5 to 20 items a month. I get 5 items a month. You can spend one of your borrows on a week of CuriosityStream or wonderum. Everyone needs to check out what their library offers. I have that and Libby that I use for audiobooks free from my library. Can’t beat free!

yep my library card gives binge pass to access curiousity stream through hoopla. I just learned that today.

Bummer. Sometimes libraries will use another service called “Hoopla” if they don’t have Kanopy.

Thanks! I'll check it. I'm thinking though - how many channels do I need to stream? There's are a lot of channels I have with Roku, tubi, and I watch free RU-vid. Not RU-vid TV. I guess I'm not picky. I love the haunting shows.

I was looking at their catalog and couldnt find anything fruitful and then I stumbled onto a title Great white hoax, then I realised there real is nothing of value on this site. I scrolled a little more and found a chess guide, I suppose in a pile of shit there might be 1 or 2 gems.
