I was raised in a strict Catholic Family. When I was a kid, my mom told me that when people die, they will be asked what were the good works they have done to be allowed to enter Heaven. Upon hearing that, I felt doomed at a young age thinking I have not done much of those “good works”, I have nothing to answer and I won’t be allowed to enter Heaven. I felt horrible at 5 years old. Yes I clearly remember because we always talk stuff like that before I go to bed. But now I am saved by Jesus through faith alone.
yes, catholic friends always thought God was mad at them and punishing them. That never helped them to stop sinning though, the sacrament from attending mass seemed to be a kind of panacea calming them then right back out to sinning all week.

They always refer to themselves as catholic. Never as Christian. I’ve never heard Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, Baptist, Pentecostals or anyone else refer to themselves by their denomination. Almost like it was a cult…. And it stood out to me when he said “the Lord along with countless followers were put to death for their adherence to the church’s teachings”. Uh, no. Wrong. Not an altar walk, not anything else. I believed John 3:16 at age 5 saved right then and there irreversibly forever. You protesters love adding "alone" all over the place. Too bad you ignore that the only place the New Testament pairs alone with faith is in "you are NOT saved by faith alone." Inconvenient for ya. From the time I was 5, my mom started telling my sister and I to never marry a catholic. I've heard it a hundred times, or more. On the 1st date w/my husband I asked what religion he was. You, guessed it he was raised catholic. I told him I could never marry a catholic or raise my children in that religion. He chose me over that church., and got saved when he finally heard the gospel.
Back in the 40s, my mother came home from a friend’s house and told my grandmother that Catholics had “the best beligion”. She got spanked and put to bed and remembered it all her life, and to this day is not Roman Catholic 😊
Former Catholic here. Catholics don't have assurance of salvation. They don't know if they're saved and believe they'll go to Purgatory to purge venial sins. Also, not everybody gets the 7. You get 6, excluding holy orders, which is for priests, who don't get married

Hi, I was always going to confession (to a priest) never sure if I missed a mortal sin.....& If I stepped off that curb & got hit by a car.😯. I had severe moral scruples as a teenager. Talk about mental torture.I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. One homily delivered by a priest at mass said that if our good deeds outweighed our bad deeds let's hope we are admitted to heaven. That's a works gospel.

That would put some undo pressure on any marriage I would think. I know catholics who were married, had kids then were able to get the pope to annul the marriage so they wouldn’t have to have a divorce, how on earth does that even work?

I live near Kansas City, I’m a Chiefs “fan” because they are in the city. As far as Butker, he is a standup guy who was giving a commencement speech on a Catholic campus. I agree with much of what he said, however, I know he is Catholic, and as a former Catholic myself, I knew what to agree with and what to put aside. In a country that has been turned upside down and inside out, I respect the man for standing up for what’s right, not all of it, but there were beliefs I think all Christ followers would agree with. Again, it’s about discernment though. I’d venture to guess that most college graduates can’t discern much..not yet. I’ve work with high school and college students daily, and they are being fed so much, so fast, much of it not doctrinal truth, but Spencer, they don’t know that. You can promote Third Adam as much as possible, but in all honesty, you would have to sit down with people between 17-30 and literally explain it to them. They don’t get it my friend. They’ll cheer anything that sounds good in the moment. Catholicism is not much different than the charismatic movement that has so many young people thinking they can “bring heaven to earth.” My prayer is that many of these people are given the ability to discern soon. Truthfully though, I believe there are Catholics and Charismatics who believe the gospel and live for Christ. I think there are many who choose to stay in the church because that’s all they’ve ever known. I still get grief about leaving, but I stand my ground and on His Word. All that to be said, Butker is a fine young man with a heart for the Lord, but he’s locked into religion instead of a relationship with our Savior.

I see this clearly also. I also know that us true born-again Christians are like 0.1% of the world's population. The King James Bible even says "The straight and narrow leads to eternal life and only FEW will go there". With those incredibly small numbers it's easy to feel isolated at times. A friend of our family talked my mother into joining the Catholic Church when I was in the 4th grade. Up until that point we had been taught with a Baptist background and believed that you told Jesus that you were sorry when you messed and asked for forgiveness. So now she is taking us to confession. My brother and I he was 3 years younger than me did not feel comfortable about it so we would literally stand in line and make something up that wasn’t to bad just to get it over with. So now we’re lying on top of all this craziness.

The graduation ceremonies are definitely a means to push agendas, beliefs, narratives, etc. I recently attended one that had a Government official who shared his life story that included his journey in his faith in Jesus (which is great) but found out that he attends one of those social justice gospel churches (the late Tim Keller). I cannot be sure of his salvation. The Lord only truly knows.

A close friend of mine that’s catholic can’t stand up in my wedding because my fiancé used to be a practicing catholic and we aren’t getting married under the Catholic Church. Our hearts are still kinda broken from it but I know somehow God will use this for this greater will. Pray for my friend. I’ve told him the Gospel many times I just feel helpless when it comes to our spiritual conflict.

Im an ex catholic who by His Grace has been brought to salvation. Just want to bring in a gentle correction to prevent detractors from accusing you of misunderstanding/misrepresenting catholicism. 2 of the sacraments are almost mutually exclusive, matrimony and holy orders are rarely available to the same person at the same time. Most people only recieve 6 at most, and the 7th (holy orders) is not available to women. Otherwise, you are absolutely correct about the sacraments being a "means of grace" (their terms), and everything else you say about the sacramentalist system is also correct. I enjoy your channel and admire the stand you take. I would hate for the enemy to be able to say "what else might he be wrong about?" and undermine your witness. Will continue to pray for you.

It stands for "bonnes actions" i.e "good actions". It's sooo important to understand that good actions are the FRUIT of salvation and regeneration (a transformed heart that LOVES as God LOVES) and they are all day and all year long. And the BIG difference is that a truly saved person does not care if anyone ever finds out about their good actions or not. Or even if another gets the credit instead. An unsaved person cares a LOT about getting noticed and getting credit. So many loud trumpets being blown (Matthew 6) all the time by Catholics and others in false religions (as well as by false converts to Christianity!) "Love is not boastful" (1 Corinthians 13:4) "The fruit of the Spirit is love..." (Galatians 5:22-24)
I think he said "attain" salvation rather than "obtain." The difference is subtle, but important. To "attain" something is to work for it. Attaining requires effort. Attaining is about achieving. This points to the works-based salvation. To "obtain" is to take possession without much effort. Marriage is a picture of the Gospel, but it cannot and will not save. By grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.. this is the only Way.
I don't think that's how the english language works. None of those words refer to either working for something or receiving it easily. You have to add adjectives unto those words to make that point. Marriage is a picture of the Gospel. It's not the works in the marriage that save, but rather the grace that God pours out through the gift of marriage. The husband and wife can choose to receive that grace that God gives or reject it. Faith alone is not biblical. The scriptures talk about faith working through LOVE, not the other way around. Love is a verb, an action, a doing word.
English works precisely based on the definition of words...or, at least it used to. A dictionary might prove helpful. Start with "attain" then go to "obtain." The words we use matter. Semantics (the study of language and what words mean) is extremely important if we're to communicate effectively...both in being understood and in understanding. I said "grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone." On this point, a Bible might prove helpful. On this topic, start reading in Ephesians 2. The study of Scripture is important if we're to rightly understand our relationship to God and how we can be / are being saved.
@@jasonl9904 I appreciate what you’re saying but it doesn’t say faith alone in Ephesians 2. It does however say we are saved by grace through faith. When I divide the word of God I see two instances. When a believer is saved and what a believer must do to walk out their salvation by faith through love which is done by cooperating with the grace of God. God never takes away our salvation but many scriptures prove that we can choose to walk away from the faith through unrepentant sin. We do good works by partnering with God’s grace. It’s not the works that save us - it’s always God’s grace. Hope that makes sense from a Catholic perspective.

Jesus in John 15 said himself that those who do not remain in Him will be cut off. This refers to believers. Although those who are cut off can be grafted back in as it says in Romans 11 Abby the olive branches.
This breaks my heart & grieves me to the core. Its such a seductive spirit that overtakes those who think this is a better path. My son at 47 completely turned away from bible teaching which at one time he had embraced. 3 times in war & a difficult marriage, he quit fighting the good fight. How is saying “by God willing” wrong? By Gods will, all good things in this world came to be. That’s not an “oh hopefully.” And the Bible literally says in 1 Corinthians that an unbelieving husband may be sanctified through his wife. I think by him saying that, he was just trying to humbly present her as his much better half. I do feel he’s misled in the Catholic faith but I don’t think that Harrison himself is pushing some awful agenda.

@@LambsServant We call each other Brother and Sister as Christians, and we certainly need one another. Brother Smith is our Brother in the LORD, that is why he is needed, as well as being called into his teaching and preaching ministry for the edification of the saints (Christians).
My cousin is a roman catholic and we had long talks. Our biggest discussion was on Eternal security. And there is a diffrence between being baptist and being protestant. Protestants are just holding some catholic teaching. Keep preaching the truth spencer smith!
Protestantism IS Romanism. The Reformers were all practicing Catholics who never fully renounced the religion. Their problem was with the papal edicts, and not necessarily the religion itself. Most of what the Protestants believe and practice are ironically Catholic edicts and doctrines. The Bible shares this same assessment in Rev. 2 where Christ refers to the Protestants as Jezebel's children. They practice the false traditions of their mother already.
Technically Catholics can only do 6 of the 7. They can either marry OR take holy orders. I have known of people who took holy orders, then renounced those vows, but they probably couldn't get married in the catholic church after that. Either way, I don't think they could "count" both holy orders and matrimony. As a former catholic, I agree wholeheartedly with what you've said here (except about them taking all 7 "sacraments"). I know so many people who think Catholicism is fine, but it's definitely a deception.
The Catholic church is based on the pagan religion of Sol Invictus. In Rome, their churches are built on the ruins of Roman paganism. Pontifex Maximus, another name for the Roman pontiff, is also the name given to the Roman emperors who were the heads of Sol Invictus (the primary religion of pagan Rome). Wake up people!

Life hack: When speaking with Catholics, cut to the chase… tell them scripture is sufficient to make us wise unto salvation, as it proclaims the gospel. Ask them to then share the gospel using scripture- what must I do to be saved, keeping in mind Paul’s warning about different gospels in Galatians 2. They will either: stop talking, share their false gospel (Galatians 2 then comes into play), or they may actually share the biblical gospel of saved by grace through faith, in which case they nullify all of their Catholic distinctives (sacraments, pope, beliefs of Mary). Easy peasy. Then share with them the true gospel and that they must be born again, and remind them scripture is sufficient for good doctrine and equipping us for every good work.
Scripture tells us how to be saved but it never says that it is sufficient and it never states that it is the only authority. Scripture reinforces my belief about the Sacraments, the Pope, and Blessed Mary.

Throw in jesuits illuminati devil worship / more sacrificial "works" to attain salvation. All religions work their way up to God or Godhood nirvana.. but Jesus is the ONLY way. HE completed our 1 Heavenly Father's Will to pass.. to win a salvation for us.. our freedom from all penance and penalty works to qualify ourselves to heaven/for eternity. So HE alone is totally worthy praiseworthy and a wonderful savior nobody and no religion can beat. Christianity is about our redemption by His blood atonement alone, not of works that anybody may boast. A true christian walk is walking in the Light of that Truth, Freedom in Christ, having a relationship with God the Father and Son in unison, not a religion of "steps" and more sacrificial rituals to make, or in signs and symbology affiliations to get us there one day by guesswork. I didn’t listen to the entire speech. Good catch. I had a similar “moment” with my Catholic mother a few months ago. The conversation was about sudden death. And I added in “Do you where you’d end up if this happened?”. Her answer was “Heaven, I HOPE.”. After an uncomfortable pause, I said something like “After 70 plus years in their system, they can’t give you assurance that you would KNOW?! What have they been teaching you all this time?”. Thanks Spencer. I was raised in Catholicism, rejected it as a teen. But you laid it out perfectly: It’s a punch card, that (when full) makes you eligible for a drawing. No assurance.

Brother, you are NOT fighting alone! There are a few godly discerning men of God out there. And I thank God that he led me to you and your channel. Your preaching , and videos have showed me of so many lies and exceptions that I didn’t see, , until you pointed them out and warned me.
I’ll say that most Evangelicals don’t know much about Catholicism. I didn’t know anything about it until a month ago when I went down the rabbit hole on it and Eastern Orthodoxy.
Spot on brother. And yes Brother Spencer Christian's are undecerning. I had a Catholic friend that I loved so and for years shared the true gospel. She would listen, she even started reading the bible, after I shared with her to read it, out loud, and to pray to Jesus. She had a direct path and an audience of THE GREASTEST HIGH PRIEST. She did this for a short time then her other evangelical friends must of put doubt in her mind about what I had shared because they disagreed with me about her salvation. She was diagnosed with cancer. She quite talking to me and answering my calls or texts. I was told yesterday she died 17th Feb. a day before her 81st birthday. It makes me so sad😢 Thank you for all you are and all you do in the name of the Lord Jesus ❤

I think why Christians praise this speech is because they hadn’t heard the part where his says that “hopefully he and his wife may obtain salvation. I heard this speech before, but had not heard the part that you played. That was very troubling to me!
Spencer, Thank you for preaching the truth! I have so many friends and family that are Catholic. I thank God every day for leading me out of that dangerous and miss leading cult! I’ve tried talking and reasoning through scripture but they refuse to listen to me! It’s heartbreaking! I literally quoted the Bible in my response. And how can you say those debates are garbage without pointing to any specific debate? You just have extreme anti-Catholic bias just as I previously did, because you have been taught lies about the Catholic Church just as I had been. Without listening to Catholics explain what and how they believe, but only listening to anti Catholics, and repeating lies, you are bearing false witness against your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Correct me if I’m wrong; I think I remember being raised as a Catholic that when you confess your sins to a priest, you are placing your sins onto him then he cleanses, akin to him being the sacrificial lamb… I was struggling because I feel like I’ve turned my back and walked away from my family’s superior legacy of Catholicism, but when I stopped to reflect, the only legacy my family passed was alcoholism, abuse, and severe toddler-like dysfunction. Oh yes and thriving on guilt.
I was raised RC and remained conditioned in that cult for decades. Every RC family I have EVER known has (at least) one of the following: Abuse Alcoholism Anger issues Depression Domestic and general violence Early deaths

My extended family are Catholic and we live in a predominantly Catholic area it is extremely hard to get through to them with the true gospel of Jesus Christ But nothing is impossible with God Keep preaching brother Catholics need to hear this!
